News / Where in the US/UK live most Poles? [46]

Yeah, they are spread more in NYC. Besides Greenpoint, there is no real polish "hood". :)
I used to live briefly in Maspeth, NY. There was a quite big polish presence there, however.

News / Where in the US/UK live most Poles? [46]

According to the census the biggest amount of Poles can be found in New York state, especially in New York City.

Sledz, good article and pretty much true. I was surprised that NYC/state has more polish people than Chicago...

Love / Matrix says that POLISH GIRLS= NOTHNIG SPECIAL [279]

There might be some true to it, because I hear from my polish friends that condoms are not really widely used by polish men or demanded to be used by polish girls/women.

Pretty sad and not a good judgment call nowadays...Yes, there could be a disaster in Poland with the open borders and this attitude.

I'd like to hear from people in Poland about it. Is it true that you guys refuse because you're "missing" some of the pleasure? Even if you do, what is the alternative? The above? Be smart in this area as you are in all others.

Life / Are there any neutral or positive stereotypes of poles? [40]

Non-violent or aggressive toward other nations, interested in arts and music, excellent work ethic, fun loving (singing/dancing), generally a happy nation regardless of hardship endured...

Life / The School Year in Polish Schools [21]

So, how do you intend to earn your living? Flipping burgers? That's what a parent in the US would say to kid...
School is very important. High education is not wanted by all nor needed. There can be only so many lawyers, CEO's, accountants and other pencil pushers..pardon me..mouse pushers. You can always go to school and learn a trade. We need new roads, new buildings, which need plumbing, electricity, painting, heating and air-conditioning, you name it.

Your statement make me think that you are still young and have some time to think about it. Some people are earning their dgrees in 50-ties or 60-ties because they had no opportunities earlier. If you have it - take it.

Love / Is it typical for Polish guys to fall in love quickly? [86]

But I have turned my life over to God. I am trying to open a Rehab center for poor people in Memphis Tennesse.

You have a wonderful idea. You need to do what feel good inside and it sounds like you found your calling. This is the other type of "fun" when you enjoy helping others - the poor and the deprived. I am not a religious person, but if you believe that God put you on this path then that's what counts.

Life / Do Poles celebrate Valentines day? [29]

International Women's Day is on March 8th. However, there is nothing International about it. Most of the world does not know it exists. All women are getting flowers and gifts, including at work. The husbands (boyfriends) suppose to wine and dine their woman. She should do nothing all they, she is a queen for the day. :)

It was kind of fun.. At least, that's how it used to be...long time ago :)

So, if you have a polish wife or a girlfriend - remember this date. She will be very surprised and very pleased.

You found another way to have fun and that's great. Everybody has a different concept of fun. Does not have to be partying all the way to dawn.

One should never stop doing whatever is hidden in the word "fun". :)

Love / Can anyone help with my brokenheart???? [67]

Here is a less romantic approach to the question "Can anyone help with my brokenheart????"

Have you tried "Gorilla Glue"? It mends EVERYTHING!

(Sorry guys, I'm in a goofy mood)

Love / So... How did you meet your Polish girlfriend/wife? [30]

See this is exactly why Eve got Adam thrown out of the garden of eden.

Yeah, true. But can you imagine living in garden of eden still? Running around naked (ok, keep the laurel leaf on), no cell phones, no Internet, cars and other goodies of civilization...we wouldn't even have this conversation...

So, I think we are where we are because we - women wanted more. :) and you guys had to keep on inventing "stuff" to make us happy. :)

Love / So... How did you meet your Polish girlfriend/wife? [30]

I have heard of men wearing wedding rings to pick up chicks.

I did. Apparently, a married man is seen as a man who can commit (a lot of men can't or don't). Therefore, if he is committed to the wife (presently), he will be committed to me when he divorces her to be with me. It is a very twisted logic even hard for me to understand, but there was a radio talk show on this subject. It was hilarious, when women called explaining their preferences for a man with a wedding ring.

This would somewhat explain the rate of divorces...I guess. :)

So, traveling businessmen - you don't need to take the ring off!!! :)

(I don't think I want a man who travels a lot). Scary.

History / Jews...and their Polish experience [520]

Jewish people made Poland their home in the past as well as now because they were (are) most welcome there. They could thrive with their businesses, education, arts - unlike at the homelands of western accusers who dare talk about polish anti-semitism.

Some Poles may have resented it but not enough to make it such a big issue.

The blabbers make it an issue because they like to instigate.

Language / I told my friends that I was polish and i speak polish but i'm not [24]

It's a interesting concept, but you can not fool anybody. If it was so easy to pretend to be of the same nationality, I could choose to be French one day...German another etc.

When I visit Poland, even I can not fool polish people, because once I open my mouth, I'm asked "Where are you from" - meaning "Where do you live"...

Sorry! :)

Life / Sylwester (New years Eve) in Poland - how much people spend on this? [4]

Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun. It wouldn't work in Illinois with the outside activities...too cold.
I think, people nowadays are more money conscious. Most I know, will spend tomorrow's evening at home with a circle of friends. Including me.

Too many intoxicated drivers out there and no police in sight.
