Travel / Britt In Poznan [28]

One place NOT to go: Hostels in Slovakia. They torture young people there and cut their fingers off, their eyeballs and all other cool stuff.

The movie "hostel" says it all ;)

Life / Polish weekends - more work or family time? [16]

Some Poles don't believe in working on Sundays.
I know a few such Poles who won't do anything on a Sunday. They won't mow the lawn, trim the bushes, clean the barn or go weed the garden because they consider that work. They say it's God's day and is a time to rest.

On Sundays families get together and eat dinner and just visit each other and talk about stuff and gossip. Then go for a spacer, to the park, get some delicious pastry from the bakery. People in Poland walk a lot that keeps them slim.

Life / Do Polish people tend to stick together? [49]

They stick together in Chicago, must be using stronger glue there.
Many Laotian and Hmong people in Wisconsin. They stick together like super duper close. They are not afraid to let their children speak another language in public, where Polish people are afraid to speak Polish in public.

Love / couples in love in poland who do not live together-why? [4]

They might not live together because they feel it's wrong? Or their families feel they shouldn't? Or some other reason. Although it is becoming more acceptable to live with each other before marriage in Poland, it is still considered morally wrong.

Food / The methods of slaughtering farm animals in Poland [13]

a fellow vegetarian krysia?

I have my own zoo, where all of my animals are vegetarians, except for the geicko, who eats maggots, but those are so ugly he's doing everyone a favor.

Food / The methods of slaughtering farm animals in Poland [13]

I never saw nor wanted to see how they kill animals, but I lived in the countryside by Krakow and everybody would kill their own animals. I heard they would hang pigs by their hind legs and do things to kill it, you could sometimes hear the pigs squeeling all over the wieś. Chickens they would use an axe to chop off heads. Could never watch it, but our 70 year neighbor thought nothing of it. I was sick when she wanted our white leghorn rooster because we had 3 and she wanted one for her hens, so my dad gave her my pet rooster. Couple days later I found his head in the bushes.

Rabbits they would hang upside down and beat it with a stick till it dies.
I don't believe in killing animals.

UK, Ireland / Advice for my Polish friend who came to the UK to work [22]

I would recommend he learn English. Pronto! Without that he will have a difficult time finding a good job. Even in Chicago, where many do speak Polish. It's best if he comes on a B-visa, which is a work visa, then he will be here legally, for a while at least. Did he come on a tourist visa last year? If so, he was lucky, they are hard to get. The work visa is easier and quicker to get.

But since he's been here last year, he became familiar with the US a little, so he won't have that big of a culture shock. If he feels scared, you can assure him that he can go back anytime and that many people leave their home country behind for a different life, some leaving spouses and children. He's still young. A whole life ahead of him.

Life / WHERE TO BUY sole iwonicka? [7]

I received a reply from the health resort. They need to know how much you want to order, what kind you need ( bathing salts, peeling, balsam, gel, liquids) and where you want to ship it to. They ship to USA and Canada. Here is their web page, but it's in Polish: uzdrowisko-iwonicz.com.pl

look under "produkty"

Love / Divorced Polish women [63]

a real man as you call it, wont want anything to do with another mans kids

There are many people who adopt another man's kids and another woman's kids. And a guy who sires his own kids does not make him a more real man than a guy who adopts someone elses kids. But is the guy mature, ready and responsible enough to become a father?

Love / Divorced Polish women [63]

how big her tatas are

How big her dads are???

If you love the woman, you should love her kids. They are part of her.
But it might make a difference how old they are and how is their relationship with their mother. Younger kids don't understand much what is going on and will accept her mom's friend more readily, while the older ones might get upset or jealous, etc.

But finding a woman with children is the best solution. You have an already made family and are not under pressure to start one. You have double fun, one with the mommy and more fun with the children. The more children, the more fun!!!! :)

Travel / Traveling from the US to Krakow In July [7]

Suggestions?
careful when taking a cab. If they know you're a foreigner, some might take you for a ride....;)
People in general pleasant. They might not smile as much but most are polite. Lot of things to see in Krakow, the Wawel Castle, Sukiennice where you can buy souvenirs and stuff, museums, depending what interests you. Watch out for pick-pocketers on crowded buses or tramways, specially if they know you're a foreighner. My sister in-law who's an American and her mother were traveling with me on a crowded bus in Warsaw and when they came out, her camera was missing.

Love / i Have been dating a polish guy for 2 years and i NEED help [10]

She just doesn't like you. And you know why? It's not you, but the image of someone who's taking her son away. Polish mothers are very close and devoted to their children to a point where they will decide who's the best for their children.

I don't think there is anything you can do, but wait and see if in time she will get over it and accept you, as her son's girlfriend.

Love / My Polish guy - loves me he loves me not [73]

Ladies dont worry, your prince charming is out there. You just have to wait for him to find you.

And wait, and wait and wait....
It's easy to meet someone, fall in love and marry, but the hard part is to keep the marriage alive. Sometimes after a few years couples get bored with each other, but sometimes they don't. It depends on one's personality and attitude towards one another.

And love. There has to be that love....
