Poland's National VISA and work permit

Hi,

I want to know more information about applying for national VISA (type D) with work permit. I've been hearing that VISA application can be refused, even if the applicant has a job offer from a well known multinational firm in Poland, an invitation letter from the company and a work permit and other supporting documents (applying from Egypt). Are these supporting documents enough for the VISA to be granted? whats the percentage of granting/rejecting the VISA in this case?

That's correct. Even if all of your paperwork is in order legitimate, the consul can still refuse your visa for a whole bunch of reasons. For example, if they believe you might be a security risk or are not convinced that you will return to your country of origin when your visa expires.

whats the percentage of granting/rejecting the VISA in this case?

It's greater than zero. How much is anybody's guess. Averages and probabilities are of little utility in deciding particular cases. This isn't a lottery.

Bottom line: don't quit your current job until you get your visa.

Thanks Dominic, that was my assumption too, but basically when going on a job offer, I will apply for temp residency upon arrival and will renew it as long as the contract goes with the employer (which is a 1-year contract then should be converted to open after 1 year).

So, what could be an indication for them that I will not return to my country if VISA expires and not renewed? or what could be a proof that I will return ? bank statements ? evidence of owned properties in my country (apartment, etc)?

You'll just have to provide what documents you can, and hope that the consul finds them convincing. For example, if you have held a job in your own country, it shows that you have been able to find employment there. If your family is wealthy and owns a family business which you will inherit, that is also convincing. But this all has to be on official paper.

Guys, I need an information. Currently I see most of my Polish colleagues are working in B2B contracts rather than a permanent contract with the employer. As a foreigner can I choose that? In that case, will I get a work permit based on such a contract?

this is not an official website of any Polish government institution - this is actually a private forum where private people share their views and sometimes help others with their queries
