Poland Parliament elections in October 2011

What I find amazing in Poland right now is how a party like RP Palikota is getting nowhere near as much criticism as PiS.

Here are some of their [his] policies

Yes to Abortion
Yes to transexuals, tranvestites and other pervertions.
Attack the Church
Legalise certain drugs

Yes PiS is evil, PiS is bad. They are racist. How dare they be patriotic? How dare they not trust neighbouring countries, even with Poland's past? How dare they be slightly suspicious? The only thing I am sometimes slightly frustrated with is seeing some, I repeat, some of the PiS supporters, during JK speeches, who chant his name every 15 seconds. This sometimes gives PiS electorate a bad name and of course the media jump on it and show it over and over. I do however think, that PO also has its over-enthusiastic supporters who have hatred in their eyes, not to mention RP Palikota. This party, along with PO, got the most votes from prisoners, i.e people who break the law, well how unsurprising.

They ridicule themselves quite adequately.

Don't them all?politicians

And fortunately that political movement lost.

Till the next election :)

Nope.

Because deep down in the abyssmal depth of my soul, I feel an irresistible urge to make sobie jaja! :):):):):):) Is it so difficult to understand? :):):)

BTW, I think PiS is quite useful. Polish democracy without PiS would be crippled. They are good opposition to PO.

The ultimate results:

well, you see from my point of view you are being quite malicious in this ridiculing - so no it's not innocent fun making in my eyes - one can be making fun in a non malicious non-derogatory ways - maybe I am wrong - it's just my perception

gumishu you mean like sometimes on 'szklo kontaktowe.' PiS is often made fun of on there, but sometimes it is unnoticable unless ya look real close.

Not more malicious than you are in ridiculing PO. Did I already tell you that we both make perfect balance here? :):):):)

=gumishu] maybe I am wrong - it's just my perception

Of course you are wrong. All I do here is innocent.
I really love PiS. If not for them, PO wouldn`t have won. Is it so difficult to understand? :):):):)

well - I can only tell that I know that I can really make fun without being malicious/disparaging/derogatory - it's not what I do here mostly tbh - but then I can sense maliciousness for the most part (I believe)

The quote is becoming famous.

I love it. lol

why do you need to ridicule PiS - why can't you just accept that there is such a political movement?

They do quite good job of ridiculing themselves.

BTW, I think PiS is quite useful. Polish democracy without PiS would be crippled. They are good opposition to PO.

True, without PIS as the opposition, PO would find it very hard to win government.

If Jarek stays for another 4 years, then PO will be guaranteed of a 3rd term in office-who knows they might go on for as long as Maggie Thatcher(:

for three weeks ? no matter I think that some people are able to learn only the hard way. In your case you will not learn because you live abroad.
We can expect more quotes from a propaganda leaf-left they use for w lightning their cigars while successfully nicking another million.

I wouldn't be so sure Ironside, I think I can hear the party's call! Calling me back to Poland. Now that Poland is a normal country and all, I think it's time to come back, any advice?

And btw: I did not get that information from a leaflet.

Did i mention that I am a very good door knocker and leaflet distributor, what do you think Ironside will skills come in handy(:

Gumishu:

- and all your prejudiced media-driven and created views of PiS won't matter because of the voice of the anger of the nation will prevail

The point I am trying to make is that your unprejudiced media - salon24 and all of that - is full of horse manure too. I take on one facet of the Smoleńsk disaster, and I demonstrate how ridiculous your "independent" media is - including professorial authorities.

So I went to your unprejudiced media, such as "Niezależna Gazeta Obywatelska w Opolu", and few other such places, such as dakowski or Salon24. And I tell you, there is nothing to be proud of...

Case 1: Historic introduction. Big minds sometimes make bad predictions

Radio has no future. Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible. X-rays will prove to be a hoax. -- William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, British scientist, 1899.

After the Wright Brothers took off, being ashamed of what he had said, he was hunting European libraries, until the end of his days, to destroy copies of the papers where he made those airlift predictions.

Case 2: Mixing Physics with God is not good
My former classmate, a practising physics professor, a revered author of many papers on magnetism and Quantum Mechanics, one time dean and university president went mad at his ripe stupid age by making ridiculous connections between science and God. He is now a laughing-stock of younger generation physicists.

Case 3: Invoking your authority in a field A does not necessarily work for a field B
Gumishu, be patient with me. This is how we learn about personalities of people involved. So here is a translation from a web page of Prof. Mirosław Dakowski, born 1937, expert in nuclear physics, author of many publications - putting up his authority into the subject of ski jumping - which he may or may not know nothing about. This is the same professor who authoritatively claims that he is in a possession of a proof that the explosion of the fatal Tu154 at Smoleńsk was caused by reasons other than officially delivered by the Russian side. See below and here:

lubczasopismo.salon24.pl/Smolensk2010/post/239280,fizyk-prof-m-dakowski-w-sprawie-katastrofy-smolenskiej

He said, invoking his authority: As a professor of physics, being professionally involved in didactics of the dynamics of motion, conservation laws (momentum, angular momentum, etc.), as well as the strength of materials ...

Gumishu, I can tell you that - as a former university teacher, including teaching those particular subjects - I would be very much ashamed even to mention those fields as my field expertise. Those thingies are not the rocket science, believe me. "Małe piwo" - as we used to say. Heh, heh...

Prof. Dakowski does not show any proof of his claim at all, but his followers (on the URL posted above) - oh, they are all ripe with speculations, talking about low and high accelerations and all of this. Yes, why should they care - they have loud mouth to talk through.

I just happen to have some expertise about shocks, impacts, earthquakes, seismic packaging, and so on. Never I heard on that site any discussion about impulse, power and energy but only about acceleration. In a very simplistic way: the stuff that destroys humans bodies is force (acceleration) times time. Huge acceleration during few microseconds only does not have to be fatal.

Case 4: Zdzislaw Śloderbach - Professor Doctor Engineer, Opole University of Technology, lecturer at the university who has the status of extraordinary professor (???). Specializes in such areas as: the use of mathematics in engineering, solid mechanics, reliability and durability, the theory of elasticity and plasticity, thermal stress, forming technology.

Oh, Gumishu, this must touch the nerve - the guy is from your university. But why is he going again along the same path - invoking his authority to prove something?

From the knowledge of science of strength of materials, which I teach at the Technical University of Opole, and which I deal with professionally and with the history of many other similar disasters...

Maybe he is an expert in strength of materials (I used to teach that subject too), but he is not an expert on flight theory and airplane construction, for sure. Here is what he says:

The fuselage of the aircraft is made of duralumin, 7.5 mm thickness, which is not uniform - it is reinforced by beams and ribs.

To which Tomasz Hypki, altair.com.pl/cz-art-3642, responds:

A researcher from Opole University of Technology said that the plane broke up into small pieces by a vacuum bomb explosion. He is sure of it. He added that the skin thickness was 7.5 mm.

Since I am not expert on this subject, I checked this info on internet. Apparently, the skin thickness varies for various designs - but it is very thin in no load bearing areas (1-2 mm at the top of the plane) to few millimetres at some places at the belly. The TU154 plane supposedly landed on its back...

Miroslaw Dakowski

Malysz can jump 3-4 m further
As a physicist I say: The ski jump dynamics can be significantly improved:

1) Currently, the ski jumpers do not effectively push off the beam. They usually push off with hands, and not all of them do that. Their speed at this point is practically zero. A later squatting in flight adds nothing to the process. However one could add initial 1-2 m/s by leaning back to the horizontal level and strongly pulling from the stomach. It is easy to measure this effect for a jumper on a small hill with the sensors attached. And then improve upon it. The effect is similar to that which could be obtained by jumping from the bar located 0.5 - 1 m higher.

2) During the flight jumper's hands are passive. They do not increase the lift surface. A jumper, who holds his palms flat (even better when wearing mittens and splaying his fingers) will add 2-3% to his lift. Good, lightweight sailor is able to take advantage of it.

Altogether this adds 3-4 m to a jump length. At least that.

Why am I writing about this? Few years ago I tried to interest coach Tajner, Polish Ski Association (PZN), sports journalists. Do not respond to my mails. Kindergarten? Dr. K. from some Aviation Institute, with whom Malysz (and probably others as well) flew in the wind tunnel, admitted that I was right. But he had no clout.

Maybe some reader would like to interest Polish trainers or PZN? Maybe he has more contacts, perseverance and patience than I do?

Some talks are going on, but slowly ...

Of course, I wrote almost everything but details are for those interested.

What I find amazing in Poland right now is how a party like RP Palikota is getting nowhere near as much criticism as PiS.

What's amazing about it? Palikot doesn't incite people to openly defy the state, Palikot didn't openly court football hooligans, nor does Palikot talk about conspiracy theories and so on.

Here are some of their [his] policies

And what about their other policies that you conveniently forgot to mention?

As for the church - are you honestly telling me that you think that the Church should continue to receive handsome subsidies from the State? I mean, there are young people out there earning 2000zl a month and getting 1400zl in the hand - while priests are making far more and getting taxed less. That's not fair, is it?

How dare they be patriotic?

They're not patriotic. When was the last time you actually saw PiS do anything for the country? These people aren't patriotic - if they were, they would love their country - and support its rulers, whoever they may be.

The only thing I am sometimes slightly frustrated with is seeing some, I repeat, some of the PiS supporters, during JK speeches, who chant his name every 15 seconds. This sometimes gives PiS electorate a bad name and of course the media jump on it and show it over and over.

That's not what gives PiS a bad name. No-one has any issue with chanting Jaroslaw - the issue is with what he says.

This party, along with PO, got the most votes from prisoners, i.e people who break the law, well how unsurprising.

Using petty insults like that won't get you anywhere.

Don't you see that the reason that PiS lost again is all because of this petty sniping and attacks on others? People have kept them in opposition for exactly this - they don't want to listen to the PM attack others, they want the PM to get on with the job of actually leading the country.

Anyway, the result of the election is very interesting. PO/PSL only lost 4 seats between them - which is a remarkable result. But interestingly, PiS lost 9 - it's a clear rejection of their strategy, even by people who previously voted for them. No matter how you spin it, the opposition totally failed to do anything in this election - and shows that PiS are simply unelectable for whatever reason. It's actually a disaster for PiS - because now, PO can be supported by any one of PSL/SLD/RP and still have a majority in the Sejm. The *only* result for them was that they managed to retain the "blocking vote" for constitutional reform - but again - if a mere 3 deputies "cross the floor" - then they'll lose that, too.

I wouldn't be so sure Ironside,

Are you saying that you know all that and now you are going to Poland to join your colleges in thievery?

I think it's time to come back, any advice?

nope!

earning 2000zl a month and getting 1400zl in the hand - while priests are making far more and getting taxed less.

Care to prove it?
(do not expect that)

hey would love their country - and support its rulers, whoever they may be.

I love it ! Go tell us some more about unjustified prosecution of Nazis policy supporters in Germany.:D

Using petty insults like that won't get you anywhere.

Well, if true is insulting so be it!

Don't you see that the reason that PiS lost again is all because of this petty sniping and attacks on others? People have kept them in opposition for exactly this - they don't want to listen to the PM attack others, they want the PM to get on with the job of actually leading the country.

I appreciate your input though I haven't read it thouroughly - I will only say one thing - you are wrong on two points - first of all salon24 is not uniform medium that has any specific line - lots of different people publish there - many would be denied publishing anywhere else -

then the other thing- I don't treat salon24 as an infallible source of inforamation - first of all salon24 is mostly comments not real information- but still it is good as an information hub - I don't have to run around through many places watch all TV channels to know what's going on (more or less) - then there spring up sometimes informations that wouldn't surface in mainstream media including television - first of all salon24 is an independant medium unlike most of massmedia that work hand in hand with the current government (hush up things or create hysterias/hypes)

I hope that salon24 will evolve into an indepedent medium in its own right with lots of active journalist and not just scores of commenting bloggers - it is quite probable - as the initiator of the salon - Igor Janke - is quite an openminded guy

Since I am not expert on this subject, I checked this info on internet. Apparently, the skin thickness varies for various designs - but it is very thin in no load bearing areas (1-2 mm at the top of the plane) to few millimetres at some places at the belly. The TU154 plane supposedly landed on its back…

this is pretty obvious I would say - the strenght of the fuselage and wings is in the crate of beams an not in the skin

They're not patriotic. When was the last time you actually saw PiS do anything for the country? These people aren't patriotic - if they were, they would love their country - and support its rulers, whoever they may be.

The sad truth is that many of the PiS supporting types (and let's be honest, most PO types too) sat on their hands and did nothing.

Look at Rydzyk for a great example - he was a total nobody in PRL times. Likewise with Jaroslaw Kaczynski - almost a total nobody. Yet they snipe from the sidelines about people that were actually there.

Such voices make Him continue his Mission in Poland.

I suggest to start calling Him the Saviour from now on. :):):):)

Do you remember PiS internal polls a few weeks ago which suggested they were ahead of PO by a few %?

Today PiS arrogant spokesman admitted they were wrong.

New parliament members that Poland hasn`t seen yet:

Anna Grodzka has become Poland's first openly transgender parliamentarian.
Grodzka, who transitioned last year, secured a place in the Sejm, the nation's lower house of parliament, reports Warsaw Business Journal.
The politician, who is the founder and president of NGO Trans-Fuzja, received 19,541 votes the Kraków II electoral district.
"Today, Poland is changing. I am the proof along with Robert Biedron, a homosexual and the head of an anti-homophobia campaign who ran for office in Gdynia," Grodzka said.

She also noted the day before her win was confirmed, "If I'll be elected in Krakow, I'll be Poland's first transgender woman, and the only transgender [member of parliament] not only in Poland, but the entire world," adding, "In New Zealand, there was Georgina Beyer, but she is no longer an MP since 2007."

Grodzka joined the Palikot's Movement (RP) after many years with the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD).
Warsaw Business Journal notes that RP is known for its liberal views including supporting LGBT rights, abortion, and legalizing "soft drugs."

New parliament members that Poland hasn`t seen yet: 2

Robert Biedroń (Polish pronunciation: [ˈrɔbɛrd ˈbjedrɔɲ]; born April 13, 1976 in Krosno, Poland) is a Polish LGBT activist and politician. Once a member of Social Democracy of the Republic of Poland, now he is a member in its successor party, Democratic Left Alliance, and was co-responsible for writing down its stature. Currently he serves as advisor to many of its politicians and leaders. He is also the board member of the Polish Campaign Against Homophobia.

He was an unsuccessful candidate for the Sejm (Polish parliament) in 2005 (from Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej), the Democratic Left Alliance, the main left wing party.
He was accused of assaulting a police officer in Warsaw.[1].
In the October 2011 parliamentary elections he was elected to Sejm (Polish Parliament) getting 16,919 votes in Gdynia district, from Palikot's Movement list [2].

During his post-election speech Kaczyński promised to return to power the same way as the Hungarian conservative Fidesz party of Mr. Orban had done - after eight years in opposition. But his choice of words was not very fortunate, since he said that the day will come when "we will move Budapest to Warsaw". Now he is a butt of jokes.

Ironically, Mr. Orban congratulated Mr. Tusk yesterday, calling his party and PO something like close cousins.

Edit. He actually said: "I am deeply convinced that the day will come that we will succeed, and we will have Budapest in Warsaw"

it's about being against anything Jarosław Kaczyński says - if Jarosław Kaczyński says that RAŚ (Silesia Autonomy Movement) is a hidden German agenda (if you follow RAŚ such statements are not absurd) then you must claim that you are a Silesian (We are all Silesians) - if Kaczyński says something's black you should say it's white - if Kaczyński says We hope Warsaw will be another Budapest in the next election then you must say I hate Budapest or something like that - if Jarosław Kaczyński says we should take Hungary as an example then you must say Hungary is a shithole
