Well, people used to say that the Berlin Wall was forever,

I never did.

The Baltic states were not liberated by the West. They were released by the USSR when holding on to them no longer made any sense. See Hong Kong.

They were released when the UdSSR was no longer able to occupy them. The same may happen with the parts of Ukraine it currently occuppies. If the Ukrainian army is unable to force Moscow to return, then mayhaps the inevitable economic recession in Russia will.

The 90s will look like paradise compared to what awaits Russia.

Russia could collapse to a population of 20M people, be sanctioned from using the telephone or toilet, while Moscow itself was a smoldering ruin - and we would still have enough resources to occupy the Baltic states.

These microscopic assh*les, require perhaps a motorized division per country, to maintain stability.

An interesting vision of the future.

arguments elsewhere.

I sometimes do but always take them back here coz it is the funniest forum of all. :):):)

be sanctioned from using the telephone or toilet,

Sanctions on toilets isn`t a big deal in Russia where still millions of people use outhouses. hahahaha

and we would still have enough resources to occupy the Baltic states.

And yet Russia lost controle over the Baltics (and other occuppied areas) because they could no longer afford it.

Gorbachev did not relinquish controle over them and the Warsaw Pact because he was such a nice man, but because the Soviet Union desperately needed Western money, food and medical supplies to avoid a self-inflicted catastrophy.. Which it received without showing the proper gratitude for it.

Once the bill is due for Putin's mismanagement and warmongering, Russia can only hope that the Chinese will bail them out. They can not count again on the generosity of the West.

Just can't leave other people alone.... what is wrong with russians that they are so needlessly violent and aggressive toward other people?

I know that during the Cold War russians/soviets hated the people in the Warsaw Pact countries because they knew they lived better than them despite the large scale theft of resources by the USSR (none of which went to make life better for everyday citizens).

Just be happy being a third rate power with a culture that most people want nothing to do with and a socio-political system that makes a dumpster fire look good in comparison.
