he _did_ succeed in convincing a non-trivial number of women to smoke and he did that by linking the ideas of 'smoking' and 'emancipation'...

You know, at school we were taugh about women's emancipation - they got voting rights, they can work, so I thought everything is fine, the fight is over and the future is nothing but bright for us. But despite this fact, when I was looking at my mother I thought that I don't want to live like her. Because her life looked like one big sacrifice for the family and I could see how much more she's doing than my father and how tired she is and has no time for herself. I didn't want to have kids at that time, because I didn't want to live like that. And I've decided that I'll never marry a man like my father.

Of course, with time I've come to a conclusion that I can simply pick a better husband than my mother did and with whom I would actually want to have kids. My initial resentment towards having kids didn't have anything to do with some kind of "neoliberal propaganda" or feministic agitation - it was just the observation of my mother's sh1tty life. Of course, it depends on perspective - my mother's life could be great for some woman living in a small village in Afghanistan, but I wasn't living in Afghanistan and I wanted something better than this. I wanted to have a life.

I don't know why men don't understand this - that women want to have a life too.

To the point where two single mother told me how their lives are actually easier after they finished their relationships.

Yes, this + 100000

I've seen such comments on both Polish and American social media. Women either complaining that everything is on their shoulders at home, despite the fact that they're working too, or already divorced women saying that they're less tired now, because having a husband was like having another kid to take care of. That they felt like they were single mothers even though they were married. It's disappointing that there's no difference between Poland and the US in this respect. I thought that the US as a Western country progressed more. Of course, I realise that probably not all marriages are like that in the US, that maybe it depends on the region or sth, but I've seen many comments like this...

For instance, I work, my wife does not.

Majority of women in Poland work though. From what I understand - the same can be said about women in the US.

Women, in the US primarily, think they need to have this incredible career. They think they need to or should compete with men.

Um, sorry, but can you imagine that there are women who want to have a career not in order to compete with men, but just... to have a career? o_O You know, because it's nice to have your own money and because women can be passionate about stuff too and be good at something? And that they find fulfilment in it? That they want to accomplish something? When I wanted to get a job, I wasn't thinking about competing with men lol, I simply wanted to be able to support myself, just like everyone else o_O 🤦

Saying men don't change diapers, clean, etc. is a caricature. Men do such things.

That depends which part of the world you're in. There are huge parts of the world where that would never happen.

Just as there are parts of the world where men have never done the food shopping and other parts of the world where women have never done it (because they have to stay at home).

In the words of Budka Suflera.... do tanga trzeba dwojga...

why men don't understand this - that women want to have a life too

Nothing wrong with that, but having a man's life and career arc is going to make some other options.... unrealistic.

You think that there are no non-alcoholic, unselfish, non-lazy and loving men in this world? :) Or that they wouldn't want me for a wife? :)))

Nothing wrong with that, but having a man's life and career arc is going to make some other options.... unrealistic.

Really? Why? :)

Or that they wouldn't want me for a wife?

Maybe some limb wristed wimp that had a helicopter mother hoovering over him throughout his adolescence life telling him what to do, how to do it, where to do it, when to do it and at your immediate command. ie: "button the top button on your shirt Buster !"

(johnny farts as loud as he can)

I'm not.

And in any case, what you get in one part of the developed west isn't what you'd expect in another.

Men on the other hand dont GAF how much money a woman makes

But we don't care if men GAF or not. It's simply reasonable and responsible for a woman to be able to support herself (and kids), because you never know what will happen in life - your husband may die, get sick and be unable to work, leave you and kids, can turn out to be an alcoholic or abuser (or both), a cheater, etc.

In the Russian public, the aggressive tone worsened a lot after the terrorist attack. Even Dmitri Trenin, the former director of the pro-Western Carnegie Center in Moscow, published an article in which he called for a "nuclear strike" to the West as a final warning for the establishment of strategic intimidation, considering that at this pace of war it is impossible to establish a strategic balance. Today, Trenin is a member of the Council for Foreign and Defense Policy, a Russian think-tank that is the organizer of the Valdai Forum, where Putin is a regular guest. What must happen for the Western elites to finally come to their senses? How long will they believe that Putin is bluffing and that they can finance terrorism without direct consequences for themselves? Do the Russians have to target targets in NATO countries first? There will come a time when the Russian leadership itself, and perhaps society, will no longer have understanding for Putin's "rational" methods. In the end, due to great internal pressure, he could order the bombing of "command centers" in Poland, Romania, Germany, etc. Most people are not aware that we live in times when it is no longer certain whether we will live to see the next morning.

@jon357

Certainly there's difference, but this idea that men in general are brutish deadbeats with a slaveholder mentality that view women as chattel is baloney. As is destructive radical feminism that pit men and women against each other-they use the baloney of the brutish man as reason for their ideology.

@Paulina
And that is the point. Men dont care that you dont care. We dont care about your wanting a career, or wanting to support yourself and the family? Why? Because we are raised to be the ones who are responsible for the family. Men, real men, not the neoliberal, feminist, pussified version of todays young men, do the heavy lifting. So, have your career, your money and all that. Just know that to men it doesnt mean anything. In the end, men go to fight the wars, men do the protecting of the home and family. Do you want some mondern day crybaby when someone tries to rob you on the street who will run faster than you, or do you want someone to defend you and fight for you. You cant have both. If I die, there is life insurance, paid property and investment income because as a man its my responsibility to look forward and prepare, not to assume the worst. And frankly most women today go into relationships expecting to divorce at some point, and then get offended when a guy with the 666 qualities wants a prenup.

So a majority of women in Poland work. Good for them. A majority of them are not having children and their careers are more important that having a family. They get to their late 30s and 40s and then ask where the time went and why cant they conceive now? The western press brainwashes people, not just women, into these gender fluid roles that simply do not exist in the natural world. Men are not nearly as compasionate and loving as women are and not as suited to raise kids. Women are not built to do heavy construction work or carry heavy loads in combat.

My wife and I laugh at the neoliberal movement and the feminist BS. It is hilarious to see some of here friends now going through things I described. And they were warned it would happen if they didnt try to make changes in their lives earlier. Some things in nature are not meant to be fvcked with.

I just started another thread on this topic and maybe people can move this conversation there (maybe a mod could move the very interesting posts from here to there)

I will only discuss the issue there.

this idea that men in general are brutish deadbeats with a slaveholder mentality that view women as chattel is baloney

Is there such an "idea"?

There are certainly injustices and stereotypes about gender however I don't see people thinking that.

feminism that pit men and women

That tends to be second generation feminism. Most of those voices are well over 60 now.

Edit

I will only discuss the issue there

And just having seen your post, so will I.

This one's about r*SSia's illegal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

out there that know place

(correction) that know 'their' place
How come it worked so well back in the old days when I grew up when wives submitted to their husbands and everything ran smooth.

Then you feminists started with your, listen to me growl, listen to me roar, I am woman and everything went to sh!t.
Explain that one Karen.

can turn out to be an alcoholic or abuser (or both), a cheater, etc.

Oh, and the old lady can't. 😲

This one's about r*SSia's illegal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

Russia didn't invade Ukraine. The Russian army is in Russia trying to expel the Ukrainian army. Ask the residents of Crimea, Donbass, and Luhansk if you didn't keep up...

That's Objective 1.

Objective 2 is to make Ukraine unattractive to the snake called NATO. Let's call it a poison pill or AIDS. Nobody wants sex with AIDS.

I grew up when wives submitted to their husbands and everything ran smooth.

If not submitted, they at least didn't question their decisions - including if to have a gun.

They did. They tried to get as far as the capital. And failed.

Well said.

Some nice news today from Ukraine. There's a lot happening right now.

And an interesting article here about orc losses and how little they've gained:

And failed.

No, they didn't. They withdrew when there was still a chance to reach a negotiated agreement.

You do know that Russia has rockets and that they can guide them to any target they want destroyed, right?

russia-captures-only-195-square-miles-of-ukraine-territory/

One more time...This war is about killing people, not "capturing" square miles. This is not WW1.

Well said.

They fled, leaving rotting equipment and broken tanks behind.

They've hardly captured any since October and are losing at least 1000 orcs a week.

Probably made up and/or stupid or boring... unlike 3 and X (a very proxy for how well a person is informed). So far, only one person immediately understood.

Deleted my clue. It was a good one.
