What is that even supposed to mean?

Why do always women have an excuse list if they do something bad? That's what it means. Equal means equal or not?!

She should have been given a medal for killing the creep who murdered her doggie.

Well, I; 'm not so sure, What about disposing of an aggressive baboon, for example?

baboon

You need to wait - their time hasn`t come yet. :):):)

Besides, baboons are independent - nobody owns them. Ha!

There have been a series of attacks on old women in Warsaw over the past ten days. Strangled in their flats and robbed. Several potential perps have been arrested and are being questioned.

should check on strzelec location.
Happens the same in other countries a rapid influx of foreigners, and a rise in crime statistics.

Two out of the three guys arrested are Polish and one from next door.

it doesn't change facts as stated in my previous post.

Yes, Poland has no shortage of jackylls preying on the weak and old and poor.... all the more reason that there's no need to import more.

Well, according to some people I'm already all that and more. Also a fascist and sexist, homophobe.

Grisly crimes in Poland

The title is a lie.

There are no "grisly" crimes in Poland...Only in the US.

Two guys detained so far: Polish and Ukrainian.

Two

Three now. A Pole (who was caught trying to leave a flat) for one attack, a Pole and a Ukrainian for another.

there's no need to import more.

As far as I know Ukrainians are not 'imported' nor equally as far as I know does the Ukrainian coommunity have a higher crime rate than society as a whole.

Go to a doctor

One of the victims was a Doctor. This is by the by however and of course the crimes have nothing to do with immigration.

Btw, they haven't ruled out further victims, maybe strangled in their flats and lying there dead.

We probably won't know until the heat from the radiators starts to liquify their gruesome cadavers and they start to drip drip drip through their downstairs neighbours' ceilings.

As far as I know, nobody's 'imported' (except for VIP experts headhunted by the goevrnment or big companies, or maybe footballers however they're both the exception), nor do these crimes appear to include anyone from elsewhere.

And nor as far as I know do any particular non-European demographics in PL have a crime rate higher than that among other residents of Poland.

Did you miss the High School English class when they explained "metaphor"?

particular non-European demographics in PL have a crime rate higher than that among other residents of Poland

So far, because Poland has a crappy social safety net and non-Europeans are here to work.

A good reason to keep the safety net pretty bare. If Poland gets a comparable safety net to places like Scandinavia it will attract larger numbers of MENA migrants who don't (can't) contribute to the economy and are wildly over-represented in crime statistics.

Poland (with some help of Eastern neighbors) can keep the psychotic crime level high enough on its own without looking outside the immediate area.

Did you miss the Social Education lessons when they explained that people get bored and often stressed by constant repetition of the same dreary themes.

We know you're no fan of some types of migration, however raising things in a constant "why oh why" way just stresses good people and gives fuel to racists.

Some things are easier for countries to fix than others; this is one of the hardest things and migration will only increase over the next few decades.

Scandinavia ..... crime statistics.

I suspect you know that reporting rates (for any crime) are far higher in Scandinavia than in a lot of places and in Poland they are lower.

Poland (with some help of Eastern neighbors) can keep the psychotic crime level high enough

Very true.

And I'd guess that due to low reporting rates, the actual crime rate in Poland is higher than most people would guess.

Yes. 'Nothing can be done to lower migration rates" is a very dreary theme.

reporting rates (fdor any crime) are far higher in Scandinavia than in a lot of places

That shouldn't affect proportions. If anything, higher reporting rates should lead to a clearer picture of relative criminal activity.... and in Denmark, for instance, non-western immigrants and their descendants are convicted of serious crimes three times as often as the indigenous population (or western immigrants and their descendants) including being around 6 times more likely to be convicted of murder, rape and robbery...

'Nothing can be done to lower migration rates" is a very dreary theme.

Yet we don't see a drop, despite any measures. It will only increase.

A thread on the actual subject (there are all too many here) would be a more apt place for you to vent on this issue.

Who's venting... the topic came up in the thread, you commented, I commented... normal interaction.

It will only increase.

That's impossible.... it implies Europe is an infinite space.... it's like the population projections for Africa that would only be possible if Africa were run in very.... non-African ways.

It's hard to say how much MENA migration to Europe (a disaster everywhere it's been tried) can be limited because not many countries have tried. Poland has stopped what would have been a flood on its eastern border so... it's not impossible.
OP jon357  72 | 23712

the topic came up in the thread

It shouldn't really have. Usual suspects. The topic bleeds into every thread and usually by people (don't take it personally - I wasn't thinking of you) who've not done a blind thing in their lives to attempt to mitigate it by doing something that increases opportunity and economic development in the poorest countries.

it implies Europe is an infinite space.... it's like the population projections for Africa that would only be possible if Africa were run in very.... non-African ways.

That's true, however Europe is the most affluent and urbanised continent and more and more will come. Space is not their main consideration.

I suspect that people movement (and the growth of AI) will be the defining trends of our century, barring another technological leap and/or WW3.

Anyway, best to continue the discussion, should you wish, in more appoporiate threads. When I get back from work, I'll maybe look for some grisly crimes to post about.

I had an idea a while ago to write about the Mazur Cannibal Family (a thing in the late 50s/early 60s about a particularly dangerous family to the north of Warsaw) or about the 1990s infamous Warsaw Head Basher who used to creep up behind women in the centre of Warsaw, bash them on the head with a hammer and then run away. He was never caught..

60s 70s Silesia was wildin' with all sorts of depraved guys running around....

There a few that were written about, but people don't like to think they exist and there's the idea that anything which happens in Poland reflects eithe4 well or badly on the nation as a whole.

I was at a meeting just after the Łódź ambulance murders where so done started taking about it in English. The woman next to him told him in Polish that he shouldn't discuss it in front of foreigners. She either didn't know or it just didn't register with her that we both spoke Polish well.

The FBI say that there are around 40 serial killers operating at any one time in America. If we do the maths about population size, there may well be several right now in Poland. And it has that mix of urban and rural (different types of serial killer) plus a sort of general disaffect in society, a "mind your own business" mindset that could make detection harder.

The Silesia stuff might work well in the thread. The Lodz ambulance murders and Gorgonowa are well known but are stories worth telling, as is Katarzyna Onyszkiewiczowa, (The Female Demon).

Some of the stories are just too sad though, like the couple several years ago who had baby after baby and pickled them one by one in plastic pickle barrels.

Not true of the younger generation who don't have PRL and/or post-PRL complexes (calque from Polish)

There's a lot of interest in topics like grisly crimes and serial murders among younger Poles the same as in pretty much every other country.

A quick look at youtube shows a number of Polish crime podcasts including crimes from Poland...

That's a large demographic and I'm sure many are touchy (watch them trying to turn somersaults over Jedwabne) however it's good if fewer are.

I almost never look at non-musical YouTube videos and never listen to podcasts but good that people are taking an interest. It would be good thoug( if the better quality newspapers had more crime coverage instead of leaving it to Fakt etc.
