@Lenka
Czterdziestolatek: Karwowski, his wife and kobieta pracująca :)
@mafketis
It was a TV play - a comedy and Kondrat plays a devil. I remember my parents liked it and I saw it with them. But I can't remember the title.

Damn. Beat me to it:) Mine and millions of other's favourite take on the ridiculousness of communism. What was the name of pan engineer's sidekick?

Then there was the people's deputy who lived in the same block of flats whose job it was to "report" all the goings on in the block of flats - of which there were none of course:)

Good job :) But next will have extra point for giving the connections between the two characters shown :)

But I can't remember the title.

Frolicking with the Devil. Staged by Meeting with Ballad cabaret.

giving the connections between the two characters shown :)

One is Kołek (Peg), the other Kotek (Kitten) and have to share the same flat due to a mistake in documents. From Alternatives 4 series.

people's deputy who lived in the same block of flats whose job it was to "report" all the goings on in the block of flats

That`s Alternatives 4. Not deputy but caretaker - Angel.

That was part of it but also that entrance to one flat got covered with bricks :) I really like that series

Mmmm....well, I indistinctly remember the episode where wifey Karwoska was concerned by the people's deputy aka caretaker sticking his snout in, and our hero said he'd sort it - only to come back to the flat with his tail between his legs.

Obviously you didn't live in a block Pawian. The two "jobs" oft went together. There's still an old boy (now a councillor) living in our flat in Kato. I am one of the few people who talk to him (because he's pleasant enough) but my wife red-carded him because neighbours told her he and wife (pani porternia) were PDs in the 80s.

My family did and ours weren't. Did that caretaker by any chance looked like this?

There were no such caretakers where I have lived. Just people employed by the administration who would do the cleaning, check the water meter etc but not living in the block of flats.

As for Alternatywy 4, the last episode is the best.

Now who's he? :)

Ha! You guessed Kondrat as an adult actor and decided to play a trick on us by showing him as a child actor! No way we can be tricked like that! :):)

Wawrzek who is a trainee sculptor under the guidance of a great German artist, Wit Stwosz, making the giant altar for St. Mary`s Cathedral in Krakow in the film The Story of the Yellow Kid Shoe. I watched it on a school trip to the cinema. It was decades ago but I remember such important details like they happened yesterday. :):)

Interesting. The Germans know him as the great Nueremberg sculptor Veit Stoss.
Guess it's like that Kopernikus vs. Copernick debate all over again:-) You guys claim him for Poland because technically he was born in Torun, the Germans claim him for Germany, since the German name for his home town is/was Thorn.

No, there is no debate about Stwosz/ Stoss. I wrote clearly: German. :)

Who?

Un unforgettable role in an unforgettable film. Did you know that Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz was ... hmm ... not particularly liked by the political class in pre-war Poland?

[A little bit like certain people being not particularly liked now by the PiS government in today's Poland]

I first read the book on which the film is based as a teenager when the book was not filmed yet and I must say - the book had impressed me a lot at that time! So I'd like to advise everybody: you must certainly read the book, if you liked the film.

Ziem, that`s wonderful explanation but you forgot to name the character! Yes, being Poles, we understand each other without uttering one word, but what about others? :):)

Nikodem Dyzma, a jobless man who accidentally becomes a top economist and renowned respected politician in pre-war Poland, from the TV series: Nikodem Dyzma`s Career.

Did you know that Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz was not liked by political class in pre-war Poland?

Yes, they even sent rogues to beat him up in the street.

I read the book several times, also to kids. Very funny.

Who?

Now a woman whose face was mentioned in one of the most recognisable Polish ballads in one of her earliest roles.

Now a woman whose face was mentioned

She had the face of Pola Raksa, in Autobiography by Perfect from 1982.

Is the photo from the film Satan from Class 7?

Yes, Nikoś, the modern version of the old film, set in post communist times.

Ok, I really need to renew this thread.
Who is the actor? What's the film? Who does he play?
And some more bonus virtual points if you know what Polish song Metallica played in Poland last year.

I knew straight away which film this was from, given that I love Dżem and have seen it. It is Skazany Na Bluesa, starring Tomasz Kot as Ryszard Riedel.

what Polish song Metallica played in Poland last year.

The Unforgiven.

Tomasz Kot is great and of course you got it right.
How about this character? When I looked at him, I saw the man he played: the posture, the gestures. ..

As for Metallica, have a look at this video:

I love it :)

Is it Dr Religa, the best Polish cardiologist ever?

The Unforgiven.

Sorry, it was Time Machine by Dżem.

Kaprys, what about Pola Raksa guess?

@pawian
Of course you were right both about Pola Raksa and Religa.

As for Religa, do you guys know that photo of him published in National Geographic? It was entitled 'Anxious eyes', I believe. Great shot.

Wow, that sounds amazing and a great tribute to Dżem!

Sorry, it was Time Machine by Dżem.

Yeah, I misread the question, I was looking for an English and not a Polish song. Duh.

It did sound great. I love listening to it. And he sang it in Polish!!!
In Praque they played Jozin z bazin :D

And since I got off topic and risk being put in random chat, who are they?

I don't know who the two girls are though :(

Warm and smart? Not quite sure what you mean by that. Presume it's a childrens TV series?

incredibly warm and smart series :)

rodzina zastętpcza - foster family

the one on the left was supposed to be mongolian... I forget the other's ethnicity but part of the show was that they both considered themselves completely polish

That threw me a bit as obviously they have identical shirts, plaits and hair slides.

I think Mishell (???) Is Mongolian or partly Mongolian but I'm not sure. Ola Szwed is half Polish. The thing was that when they came from the orphanage, they kept claiming they were twins.

BTW, Metallica played Sen o Warszawie in Warsaw
