Polish Hip Hop

I'd rather listen to Disco Polo than to Hip Hop, not even if it is Polish.

Hasn't it occured to you that you might be in the wrong thread? I'm sure this one isn't about Disco Polo. (Gee, I wonder why I would think that? Let's see..) Oh, and you sure do have a funny name for someone who pretends to listen to Disco Polo.


Rap isn't traditional music. It's a word. Hip Hop isn't traditional music either. The first Hip Hop was created out of Pop and Disco Tunes. Oh, and if you're going to be racist, or narrow-minded, then why aren't you complaining about Rock Music, or Heavy Metal? I think Jimmy Hendrix invented that music..

Personally I really like Polish hip hop I don't believe it's an oxymoron, I think the language gives it's self naturally to this kind of music as it's so poetic and potent. You may wish to check out; Kaliber 44 - Gruby Czarny kot and 52 Debic - Konfrontacje and Doniu - Uciekaj .....

At completely the other end of the spectrum I also like Polish reggae and clever poetic lyrics like Maria Peszek's and Grzegorz Turnau.

Brygada Kryzys dabbled in reggae stuff a bit, too, though they were just as much a punk band.

In fact, 80s Polish new wave and punk music is phenomenal.

As for Poles making hip hop, what exactly is wrong with that? Modern musical forms tend to manifest globally. Are people who are not American and black not allowed to play jazz now or something?
