News / Y Shaped high speed rail line Poland [78]

I think a few may die of shock if Poland got such a thing. I mean, the PKP Intercity option is pretty good but this proposal looks to be a huge step up.

Life / Have many Poles had enough of one another? [198]

I think this may get worse with the overused utterance 'masakra'. It lurks like an accomplished assassin that word. I sometimes just stare at those who say it and give them a look as if to say 'really, that bad?'.

Life / Your Polish friends - why do you regard them as such? [41]

My stories were true. His were cock&bull nonsense! I've never known any Pole to have touched cocaine. If you can't see that this thread was designed to bring out positive stories then you are blind!!

News / Polish Independence Day-Beware? [59]

It happens at football games too, of course. On a micro scale, that has nothing to do with the EU.

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1303]

Let's put the EU top brass to good effect. I'd make it that you shouldn't touch certain foods after X amount of alcohol. You know, sth like a 'vomit potential' rating. Sth like 'only eat tripe when sober' ;0 ;) As a Scot, I'd appreciate it ;) ;)

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1303]

I think we are thinking about a different band but this is not for this thread.

Polish sausages are really the stuff of legends! Anyone who thinks the Germans have the lead in this regard is either sadly misinformed or plainly just doesn't know. Sausages here are a culinary delight! Now, any 'awkward' foods?

Sid, not so ancient and, well, not rock ;) You are Polish, right Sid? It's hard to go far wrong with Polish food. Meatballs are manageable for most. Dumplings too. Only tripe stands out. I haven't encountered problems with much else. Tripe was fine for me. Not 'gads'.

Probably! I don't intend to second guess anyone here. As for Polish food, well, there are a few things which could catch out the undiscerning sampler but life is all about choice, right? Unsure? Don't go there unless you are willing to take the consequences ;)

As I said, pam, I don't want to speak for others as they will undoubtedly do that for themselves.

News / Polish Independence Day-Beware? [59]

If one thing could be said, it was that all manner of views were expressed. What the 'organiser' may have conveniently forgot was the reality of the internet. People catch wind of things with amazing alacrity and see their opportunity for voicing their piece. Whilst trespassing is not desirable, the governments reap what they sow. They want a large Polish presence then they have to roll with that. Democracy manifested itself, albeit in a slightly distasteful way.

Love / Do polish men like career women? [60]

This woman is like a model but that's just a statement. I am married and do my job to the best of my ability. Her face was not the main point though feel free to disagree ;) ;) I know a guy who worked with her and it was for business. Her face struck me at first but, after some time, it wore off. I worked with her on a range of issues and I can imagine that many Polish guys did the same. Besides, she has a BF whom she is besotted with.

She's very good looking if that's what you mean, southern. Very driven and committed. If you were my FB friend, you could see her but alas.... ;) ;)

Travel / Poland in photo riddles [3134]

I'll pass, pawian, as I don't know Kraków well enough. As you know, I was there not so long ago but I really don't know the city so well. However, I sense that that area is not so far from Wawel. I didn't explore one side of it so it could be there.

Passing that off as Poland, pawian? ;) ;) That's the NE of Scotland :)

My guess would be just outside the city :)

Life / Polish mentality towards Pakistan [108]

Milwaukee, wasn't Dahmer from there? ;) In Wisconsin, I think, not Poland. There are many Poles there for sure but speaking for Poles from afar is only going to incur their wrath.

Love / Do polish men like career women? [60]

What observations, polmed? For me, if Polish men can do their own thing then they tend to disregard what's around them in the workplace. That's what I've noticed. One of my FB friends and ex-students is the embodiment of a career woman and she has a great number of Polish male friends as they like the professionalism that she exudes. She goes after what she wants in a nice way and I was glad to help her in any which way I could. She was eager to learn, pleasant and not 'me me me'. It's about signs given off, not gender a lot of the time.

The first one, JM. It usually refers to careers.

So you don't regard CPD as a private matter, polmed? You are happy to discuss such issues as they pertain to you?

Life / Polish mentality towards Pakistan [108]

Touche, JM! I think some Poles expected red carpets and la creme de la creme of tea&biscuits waiting for them upon their arrival. Sorry but pecking orders are in place pretty much wherever you go. Like it or not, the Pakistanis are quite well established in certain areas in the UK. Most jobs require exp and if you don't have it, you have to be given a chance to get it. My wife had to work under a Pakistani until she found a job teaching Polish there. You just have to grin and bear the worst elements of it. Blindness as shown phillip is to completely ignore the British job dynamic.

Off-Topic / Ukrainian language [50]

To the OP, don't raise the issue with NSBM folk. You might leave the bar in a rather worse state. Ukrainians have worked hard at carving out their own identity and no deluded Pole should try and make you believe otherwise.
