Travelling to Krakow for a week in June. Planning on visiting the Salt Mines, Auschwitz etc and also a quick trip to/from Warsaw.

Got about 2000PLN put by for it. Flights and hotel all paid. Wonder if thats enough for a comfortable time in Poland or should I take more with me? Don't want to exchange too much into PLN in case I have a lot to change back to UK money cos you lose out a bit?

It depends on what you spend your money on but you should be fine with 2000pln for a week.
If you need more use your bank card, they give good national rates although the "Kontors" (Bureau de change) outlets usually give the best rates.

Best of luck!

Talk to your bank to see if they will waive the fees associated with withdrawing money from foreign ATMs. My bank here in canada usually does this for me when I travel to Poland. It's very convenient.

2000PLN

You should be ok with 2k, but it really depends on what else you're planning on doing. Are you renting a car? Shopping? Group tours/trips? Do you like to spend lavishly? :)

Hard to say, everyone is different. It's easy to spend money!

Not renting a car. Planning on trip to Warsaw (train), Auschwitz and Salt Mines as well as any other tours of the city, plus some sightseeing. Oh, and a purchase or two from the Hard Rock Cafe!!

We do spend, but not too lavishly...decent food and drink throughout.

Well it has been ten years, but last time I was in Poland a loaf of bread cost 25 cents American, a pint was about 75 cents, kilo of bacon (not US style, just pure meat) was about $1.50, train ride from Gdansk to Warszawa was about $10. Never once ate at a restaurant because everyone I met invited me for dinner lol. 2,000 should be more than enough for a week. Spend 99.99 ($20 US) on a new Legia jersey and mail it to me, ok? lol. Great folks in Poland, man, you will love it.

Things have changed a lot in the last 10 years. You will find that some things are dearer in Poland than in the US. Few weeks ago - bread over 3PLN, beer 10PLN and that's just for starters.

Where? :/

Bread is 1.80zl in my local bakeries, beer - 9zl for the local microbrewery bar. Normally 5-8zl.

5.30 per kg for one type of bread here. Another type is 4.80 per half kilo, scandalous!

Planning on visiting the Salt Mines,

I found this a short informative write up on the Salt Mines for anyone that may be interested.
