Law / Using Paypal to send money to Poland [12]

Has anyone used Paypal to send money to Poland as a gift? The fee is about 4zl for every 100zl sent. Is this reasonable? Are there any better methods of sending sums less than 500zl?

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

I have experienced the same as NewBrit, only it was when i lived in Nottingham. The problem with most people in cities is that they are in a rush and see someone else as getting in their way. Go to smaller cities and towns and the people in England and Poland are generally nicer and more polite.

Travel / Why does everyone seem to hate LOT Polish Airlines? [380]

Used Ryanair 3 times in the past 6 months and all flights have been fine (UK to Poland). Plane left slightly late once but arrived on time and arrived early once too. No luggage lost, no hassle.

News / Is NORD STREAM dangerous for Poland's natural enviroment? [372]

The long-term environmental threats can be considered as significantly lower as compared with the risks of lifting the corroded items, transportation and destruction

If the containers of these toxic chemicals are corroding they will certainly leak in the future and the toxins will get into the environment.
Wouldnt the better course of action be to attempt to prevent this by clearing the areas? As long as it is done with the correct procedure i would rather they attempt and fail than never attempt at all.

Most of the objections for the project arent due to environmental concerns but political and possible economic factors with regard to Russia's control of energy resources.

All countries with sea boundaries have been dumping waste and pumping raw sewage into the waters for many years so maybe they should focus on these 'real' environmental problems.

Ecosystems are dynamic and will evolve with their environment.

Life / Fashion and Style in Poland [174]

UGG boots:

Lots of girls wear these with tights and a skirt (usually denim). Unfortunately they also appear to have lost the ability to walk in them and just scuff their feet along. Either the boots weigh a 'tonne' or they bought the wrong size.

UK, Ireland / Time for the Poles from the UK to go home [437]

Griffith - isnt he the gay, (no offensive to gays, but it strikes me ironic that someone who agrees with Hitler's ideals is someone who would be persecuted by the Furher) bigotted leader of a minority racist organistaion that only has support in (sorry Shelley) Lancashire?

Food / What is your favorite Polish Vodka? [653]

Check these:

vodkaranking.com
revolution-bars.co.uk/lovevodka/index.php
vodkawodka.com/index.php?sub=vodka&loc=poland

There are a few grain Polish vodka. Revolution used to be one of my favourite haunts in Nottingham. Skyy was a bit of a favourite

Bit of a surprise: nytimes.com/2005/01/26/dining/26wine.html?_r=3&pagewanted=1

History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

German soldiers have been always undoubtedly subordinate so they followed the Fuhrer's words:

"Kill without mercy every man, woman, and child of Polish extraction."

Think you need to check your history again. Not every soldier in the German army was a 'goose stepping' nazi who believed every word Hitler uttered. Thousands were conscripted who did not want to fight and did not believe in the war.

Life / Poles - the Nation of Liars? [478]

He was telling me about life in England just after the war when they filled all the ex prisoner of war camps with Poles

Thats absolute rubbish. The POW camp that my Grandfather was in, never housed poles and was turned into a farm equipment storage area when the POWs were released.

UK, Ireland / A collection of noimmigration's threads or "STAY AWAY from BRITAIN" [978]

problem is that most immigrants can't afford properties out in the countryside

How wrong a statement is that. When was the last time you looked at house prices in a countryside area? I live in Lincolnshire (very rural), bought my house 18 months ago and the house prices here are pretty cheap compared to the rest of England.

Food / Polish Eating Habits [87]

Proper English food is a killer. The amount of fat, lard and dripping used in traditional english cooking has vastly increased heart disease and strokes in the UK.

I remember my grandmother siphoning off the gravy and juices from the roast to use as a spread on bread after it had conjealed.

Love / The age of consent in Poland is only 15 [147]

well just a little ;-) she was older than me!
Anyway age of consent has no bearing on what age people actually have sex. Religion on the other hand.....

Love / The age of consent in Poland is only 15 [147]

The average age of losing virginity in the UK is probably lower than Poland due to the ease of access to alcohol young people have. I was drinking in pubs from 13 and lost my v plates at the same age. Happy days :-)
