Life / Where to get electrical parts in Warsaw? [5]

If I go around GUS tram stop, can I find these products?

Yes. In the foot tunnel. But be careful - there are two foot tunnels that don't connect - one is mostly for computer bits, the other is more general, selling the sort of stuff you mention.

There are also a couple of places at Banacha market, but that place is a labyrinth and you could spend ages looking for them.

Life / What is Poland's view on obesity? How healthy, fit are Poles? [166]

The women are slim and the men are fat. A generalisation, but some truth in it. When I first moved there, I remember being shocked to see couples in restaurants with the man eating a huge meal and the woman just sipping bottled water.

News / Which modern developments harm Poland? [83]

cause brain damage the way cellphones do....

Which we don't know.

Some of today's social and technical innovations will invariably be seen for what they are only after it is too late.

Some of tomorrow's too. And frankly most of yesterday's. But is that a reason for spitting feathers whenever a new development comes along? One can't make an omlette without breaking eggs - perhaps you think we should have turned our backs on the industrial revolution because of the unprecedented health risks of factory work?

Travel / Bars and clubs in Warsaw and best district to stay [18]

Hydro4, in the basement of the building on the corner of al. Jerozolimskie and Nowy Swiat, (the one with the chemist, not Empik) is quite good. The entrance is round the back.

Love / POLISH WOMEN ARE PROMISCUOUS? DISCUSS. [153]

but along the line the marriage did not work

This happens sometimes. Regardless of nationality.

Arabs believes that polish

99% couldn't find Poland on a map, so stop stirring problems that aren't there.

Bollocks is it. Why not deal with your own (evidently serious) issues before judging a billion people by obscure religious rules. Instead of trolling here. Then feck off and crawl back to whatever hate-filled sh1thole you came from. Loony.

History / Why did Hitler kill so many Jews in Poland? [261]

they should have been rounded up and/or shipped out

I suspect most of us would prefer that racist trash like you was shipped out. As far away as possible.

Cellphones are enablers facilitating excessive chatter

females constantly jabbering away

So essentially a return to an older, more natural way of interacting. What's not to like?

News / Lech Kaczyński statue in Warsaw? [66]

As well as this, it will mean Jaroslaw will also have to be made as an accompanying statue when he dies...

Nah, they'd just make a copy. Who'd notice the difference?

UK, Ireland / Poles do a U turn: England to Poland and then back to England again. [23]

the young guy was an idiot.

In the heat of the moment, 99% of people react instinctively, without strategy or skill and the other 1% have training and are probably working on military bases anyway. And even they get it wrong more often than not.

it is the photo that will catch the criminal.

Let's hope so.

News / Should government monitor the net in Poland? [38]

And any 'monitoring' system is full of holes anyway. Even in the most repressive contries where so much of the internet is blocked, people get round it easily. Pissing in the wind.

News / Which modern developments harm Poland? [83]

@Pol3
I get the impression that if you had been born 150 years earlier, you'd have been whining about excessive use of the new-fangled postal service, with women "constantly jabbering" in letters to their friends about idle gossip and the damage to their hands from using quill pens so much...

History / Insoluble Judaeo-Polish imbroglio? [44]

, I was trying to put a positive light on Jewish-Polish relations, since as you probably know, they haven't exactly been perfect over the years LOL I was trying to be constructive and positive.

I was thinking about that. It seems that despite some of the most extreme situations that history can throw at two peoples occupying the same space, Jewish/Polish relations tick along just fine, until some extremist like Giertych (all three of them) comes along with a great deal of malice and attention-seeking behaviour and does the best they can to throw a spanner into the works.

History / Insoluble Judaeo-Polish imbroglio? [44]

shouldn't you be quietly rejoicing that he's not around anymore

Well, you brought him into the thread. I tend to leave the rejoicing to the Poles - however we are discussing Polish/Jewish relations, and an Education minister who is a member of a party with, to say the least, a chequered history is very relevant to that. Don't you think so? It isn't often that a country refuse to deal with a specific minister. But nevertheless, LK appointed him.
