Work / Will I be paid anything by ZUS for taking paternity leave? I am self employed [5]

Aha, so that means no chance ;-)

Not necessarily, I am sure if you go to local ZUS office and explain that in the UK you would get 20 GBP per week for the child and 3 months paternity leave as the father, they would listen. They might laugh very loudly, but they would listen.

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

Perhaps there are different views? According to this article, Poland seems to be back in the top ten.

UK, Ireland / Mentally ill people in British society [55]

Personally I agree with the Polish way much more than the British approach.

but if they constantly shout at people or randomly yell stuff out in public areas, that is hard to ignore.

I prefer the British system. Every 5 years, we elect these people and send them to this big asylum called the houses of Parliament (this is why you see so many of them around London) Although they shout and scream at each other all day, they only seem to be able to hurt and annoy most of the population, especially the indigenous English, most others they seem to like. After 5 or 10 years they are deemed cured and we elect another 650 to take their place, any more than this number are sent to Brussels as part of an international agreement.

Love / English man dating Polish lady [5]

Just expand your social circle and maybe you will meet someone you like's you for what you are.

Outside of London, Bath is one of the most expensive places to live. The chances of meeting Polish women there are quite small, the OP would have more luck by travelling into the nearest large city which in his case would be Bristol. My advice would be to perhaps holiday here in Poland and get to know the people and culture. If he is determined to find a Polish partner, at least he would have a starting point for any for communication.

Life / Is there social housing in Poland? [6]

Similarly, the giant apartment buildings are a lot safer and nicer to live in than their equivalents in the UK would be (at least I've been told by more than one Brit).

Tell that to any surviving "English" person, living in "Tower Hamlets", London.

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

- Siginficant increase in the amount of transactions. Light in the tunnel, or just false hope?

Seems like demand is increasing.

Real Estate / How the Poland property market became a HUGE bubble [35]

Some doomsayers including myself were wrong. But it will take many years for real growth to return.

Maybe not.

News / VAT, OFE, ZUS and costly dress under Tusk's government in Poland [48]

I don't see any harm in it.

For once Delph, I disagree with you. Tusk is on a good salary, he should buy his own clothes. You have seen the uproar in the UK about MP's and their claims for expenses. Cameron pays 5,000 GBP a year to live in Downing Street. Out of a salary of around 150,000 GBP. The only reason Tusk wants to be president of the EU is the 500,000 Euro wage (per year), plus expenses, plus huge pension, most of it, tax free.

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

Property prices down 14% in lublin over the last 12 moths.

And on Christmas Day, 2012, you stated " I know they fell 1.5% in October which is a massive drop for a place which has seen little or no falls since 2005."

No further comment is needed.

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

Met a guy last night who bought an apartment in Swiss francs 5 years ago for 300,000 zloty.

So he bought at the top of the market and now its not worth so much, that's news?

Is it possible for a bank to prevent you from selling at a logical price?

Depends on how much he owes the bank and if its less, they may want assurance that the full money owed goes into their account before the deeds are released.

Real Estate / The current property boom in Poland is a bubble [342]

They didn't start falling until the line crossed 0, in 2008.

And Lehmans never crashed until mid 2008. So everybody must have known at the beginning of the year. How come it was such a suprise?

So the prices started falling in 2007? and there was me thinking the Financial crash was in 2008? I never realised prices dropped the year before.

We have agreed in earlier posts, that between 2004-2008 prices increased by some 243% (100% in one year) and yet, the graph you are using to illustrate your point, only goes up to 50%. I'm sure you will explain it to me.

UK, Ireland / Is there actually anything cheaper in Poland than in UK? [51]

there is a tv license. About 15 pln for a month

I was told that the so called TV licence fee was included in the cable/internet package. This is not the case in the UK. On a like for like basis, to live and spend as I did in the UK, whether on necessary items or things that I like, ie, smoking, drinks etc, I worked out that I am around 20,000 Złoty a year, better off. Friends and relatives that visit, all comment on how cheap it is here, compared to where they live in the UK. I am not arguing that they do not have a Polish income, only stating how they compare things.

Detached houses owners have to pay for the garbage collection individually, while for a flat owner it's usually included in the housing cooperative monthly payments.

240m2 house on 11 ara, yearly land tax of 300 Złoty, fortnightly rubbish collection is 28 Złoty per month.

Cottage in the UK on roughly the same amount of land, 8,350.00 Złoty per year, including rubbish collection but excluding garden waste, hedge trimmings etc which cost another 480 Złoty for the council to take away.

Life / Washing machine in the bathroom of Poles [78]

These regulations seemed crazy then, but eventually they have all been adopted by most houses in UK now being built.

BS. Another one that knows sweet FA about English regs.

Real Estate / Astounded by the poor value of residential property here in Wroclaw [92]

And the reality is, that if you are going to be paying 2,500 złoty per month rent/admin/service charges for a two bed flat, you may as well take out a mortgage and be buying a four bedroom house with a garden. That is the reality that you do not see. The above posts assume that it is one person paying. Why does Inwroclaw want a two bedroom flat just for himself. I would not buy a five bedroom house for three people.

Real Estate / The current property boom in Poland is a bubble [342]

A key assumption is that people want their expectations to meet reality

I still don't see new apartments for sale at 1,500 zloty m2 in the city centres yet, do you? Have you managed to save a deposit after four years? The only expectations you are likely to have is a novel written by Charles Dickens.

Real Estate / The current property boom in Poland is a bubble [342]

Real estate is something that we can see. It is not an ideal comparison.

You cannot live in a "share", you can live in a house/flat. At least for the 200 years that Peterweg thinks the communist flats will still be standing.

Real Estate / The current property boom in Poland is a bubble [342]

They have fallen 35% in a few months. A more over inflated, over hyped company, short of facebook, you won't find.

And yet, how many of the so called experts, Hedge Funds, etc, bought them. Or are you telling me that the small investor bought these shares at the $4-500 range.

Law / Do legal agreements I'm party to in Poland have to be in my native language to be binding? [5]

(We should bear in mind the law may have changed since then.)

The law did/was changed or was removed from the EU website. It was under the heading of Consumer Law/Unfair contracts. I read up on it in 2005/6 and I only wish I had printed it off at the time. I used it to cancel a contract with ERA as their mobile internet service did not work in the area where I live.

Real Estate / The current property boom in Poland is a bubble [342]

Dropping 40% since 2008 is not a bubble bursting.

Pip, Apple shares yesterday, overnight, dropped 10%. $46 billion wiped off the value of the company. Must have been a bubble!!!!
Oh sith!!!, they are still the most valuable American company. Must re-write the dictionary.

Law / Forex Market in Poland [16]

however there's a lot of truth in what he says.

What truth Jon?, read his posts for the last 4 years, when will this man be satisfied?. Its obvious that he got hurt in Ireland, many did, but he is the only Irishman I have heard who is ******** all the time. Even on Christmas day, he had to have a dig at Poland. The man is obsessive about running Poland down. You seem to stick up for Poland, if he hates it that much, why doesn't he just FO back to Ireland? he has already stated that he can get more on the dole there than he can earn in Poland.

He states that he lives in Poland. Most people would struggle to live for 4 years without earning any money. If he had money then why does he keep going on about the price of property?, it does not make sense. Surely, if you were going to stay here for 4 years +, you would not rent? The money spent on rent would more than negate anything you could save on discount over 4 years.

Law / Forex Market in Poland [16]

No mention of the 1-3 million new homes that are still needed, no mention of the 1 million homes that are on the market and not fit to live in. Keep on with your dreams, keep on with your 3% per month falls in value, keep on with your 4% inflationary drops. Milky, if this was true, after 4 years, you still, still, cannot afford to buy. Otherwise, you would not be whining on this forum. In 4 years time, according to your predictions, they will be paying you to take new flats off of their hands.

Go forth and multiply, come back in 4 years and tell me I am wrong. You say you have a wife and kids, to me, if you cannot put a roof over their heads, you are not much of a man. ( even though you list on your profile that you are a female, púrn star)

The Guardian's investigation

I should have guessed.

minus inflation = fall.

+ bonuses+black economy+tax evasion=+......only the poor suffer from inflation.
