well dont use buhaj too often:)
buhaj is a male bull who's kept for his reproduction capabilities also people use the term "buhaj" to descrive a horny man.

So you will be better of using "byk" I think.

Work / Advice on Teaching English in Poland [709]

well it all depends in what sort of school are you going to work.

As long as these would be : private language school, universities and highschools
you will be ok. But if you're going to work somewhere else then you might find your new job quite stressful.

I dont know realy,
every family is different, get to know first if they drink alcohol.
The fact is that if there is going to be only you, your bf and his parents then If I were you, I wouldnt take any vodka. But if it was to be some bigger family meeting then I would think about it.

btw. They all speak polish only? right? and you dont? hell girl you might need some help.

Especialy on sunday dinner or when guests and family arive its to show the hospitality.

But Michal is writing something different, so maybe he is right and for whole this time when I've been visiting my parents and my mom put the white cloth on the table.. maybe... just maybe its because they wanted to use me. Yup Michal is probably right, Again.

Language / Polish/Ukrainian words similarities [209]

southern

yeah well the languages sound very familiar. I come from those parts and have no problem understanding ukrainian. Plus you need to remember that for a very long time Ukraine was part of Poland so the cultures mixed with one another.

As it come to Lvov.... a tear comes to my eye. I wont say anything to avoid beeing called racist or anti Ukrainian (I love 'em). But if you look for Lvov history in the internet you will know.

Law / Polish Citizenship for a foreigner whose parents was born in Poland [174]

Well it's pretty easy...

You must apply to the Polish consulate. Your father was polish so there will be no dispute about your blood and the nearest polish ancestor.

But you will also have to show that you cultivate polish culture... so speaking polish helps a lot.

Language / Polish Swear Words [1242]

PIE

so whats your point?
Every word in every language had somesort of history and didnt probably start as a coarse word.
For example so popular "F*CK" was at first a name of the law act introduced in england somwhere in the medieval ages it had something to do with breeding.

History / Poland's King Jan III Sobieski - the stopper of Turkish Janissaries! [64]

Oh we stopped your Muslim forces many many times, for proof check info about keep Kamieniec Podolski.
Vienna was simply a separated example when Turks went against the Austrians and the rest of western Europe and didn't even come close to our borders... so who did Austrians call?

youtube.com/watch?v=-gTNcNpEB5k

hmm very strange he became king with election....

Well we had Nihil Novi Constitution since 1505 which put noble democracy in place,
I'm sorry we didn't have monarchy or tyrany like the rest of countries living in the dark of middle ages.

Language / Polish/Ukrainian words similarities [209]

It would be expected that Ukrainian and Polish may have similarities due to geographic location.

or maybe, JUST maybe because ukraine was simply another polish province in the Polish-Lithuanian kingdom before they got this crazy idea to separate themselves. Didnt turn out so well in the end.

Food / How many Poles are vegetarians? [52]

OK how shall I put it...
If someone claims that is polish but doesnt eat our fine kielbasa nor bigos nor many others delicious meals (Tatar one of my favorites - raw meat which is prepared in a specific way)

then something is wrong with that person.

- my point of view.
