UK, Ireland / Overweight gay Polish gender fluid crossdresser in Big Brother house [12]

I have never been to Poland, but I'm not sure I buy that.

You haven't been to Poland yet you're prejudiced already :-). That's how mass media works. Come and see for yourself that Poland is different than what BBC wants you to believe it is :-P

News / German legal discrimination against Polish speakers [209]

@Bratwurst Boy

"German nationals of Polish ethnicity in Upper Silesia had judicial status as a national minority[8] under the auspices of the League of Nations (likewise the Poles of German ethnicity in the Polish Silesian Voivodeship). After the rise of the Nazis, all Polish activities were systematically constrained, since mid-1937 also in Upper Silesia. However, in August 1939, the leadership of the Polish community was arrested and interned in the Nazi concentration camps of Sachsenhausen and Buchenwald. On 7 September 1939, shortly after the outbreak of World War II, the Nazi government of the 3rd Reich stripped the Polish community in Germany of its minority status. This was formally confirmed by Hermann Göring's decree of 27 February 1940."

So basically modern Germany follows Hitler's Nazi Law

Germans in Poland have a minority rights and also granted presence in Polish Parliament

Poles in Germany don't have minority status and Poles are present in Germany in large numbers since the end of XVIII century

News / Polish Domination by Germany [69]

Seams that Germany made quite serious mistake by initiated dissolution of Yugoslavia

Germany has felt politically and economically threatened by Hexagonale that's why they have initiated the dissolution of Yugoslavia. Basically, for the state in which Serbia is now you have to "thank" Germany

Germans are also concerned about the new Three Seas Initiative project but it has backing of the United States so they can't do nothing about it. Not that they won't try to jeopardise it

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

The demographics show this movement very clearly. Not only immigrants go to the big cities, young rural folks to. It's called "urbanization".

Yes, and the middle aged and old white and rich folks are moving out from the big cities, like London, to a rural areas. It is very visible here in the UK.

I doubt any changed media bias will change that, it's a matter of "voting with their feet"!

People are more influenced by mass media and a film and music industry than you may think. The impulse to moving your feet comes from your brain. Unless you're an octopus that is :-)

News / Polish Independence Day March in Warsaw. Is it going to be the biggest march yet? [1530]

You're not even Polish, and you're most definitely not winning if all you can muster is an alleged 60,000

That is still the biggest patriotic manifestation in the whole of Europe, one that infuriates European mainstream left media such as BBC every year for some reason. Don't they believe in a human right of manifesting their own values? Shame on them.

And there are also local Independence marches and celebrations in Poland too, like a one Wroclaw and Poznan and so on

And remember that even a relatively small group of people with a strong conviction to their ideas can change whole society. It has happened many times in the past already.

Hahaha, look at the Western fantasists making up stories about their presence there.

The bald 'patriots' all go to Warsaw to shout and chant about how much they love to be naked next to other naked men

Let's take a look at those 'bald patriots' which according to your fantasies dream about being naked with another man :-P

I know it's not exactly on subject but I couldn't resist posting this video of Polish boyscouts and girlscouts planting a huge Coat of arms of Poland with 100 000 trees (over 300 metres x 200 metres in size) to celebrate the anniversary of 100 years of Polish Independence.

Po polsku / Polska jest dyktaturą? [129]

"Polska jest dyktatura?"

Polska to jest kraj, w ktorym sa szanowane demokratyczne wybory i to Polacy decyduja kto nimi rzadzi.

W Polsce nie ma takiego nieposzanowania demokracji jak w "twardym jadrze unii" gdzie Niemcy probowaly wplynac na wybor ministra we Wloszech

Genealogy / Mongolian the Golden Horde - do Poles have Mongolian ancestry? [256]

So were Polish women. What's your point?

You can't even compare those two numbers.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_during_the_occupation_of_Germany

Soviet Soldiers were instructed not to make local communities hostile to the USRR. There were some incidents where Polish women were assaulted but it wasn't even a comparable number. Most of the rapes took place in Recovered Territories on German population, and unfortunately on Mazurs too which are not Germans, and in East Germany.

Those Soviets were primitive brutes, so I don't envy those women, but the fact is that Soviets "vent off the steam" mostly on German women.

But that's what happens to a country that starts "Total War" and then loose.

Genealogy / Mongolian the Golden Horde - do Poles have Mongolian ancestry? [256]

I think that Germans have much more Mongolian blood than Poles do since German women were raped 'en masse' by Soviet Soldiers at the end of WWII. And those late Soviet invading forces were often composed of Kazachs, Kalmuks, and some other Asian nations of the former USSR, at the end of the war

News / Poland's post-election political scene [4080]

Except they've also clearly shown that PiS have lost popularity since the 2015 election when they won nearly 38% of the vote

My friend, how many times should I tell you that local elections doesn't directly translate into major, parliamentary elections. They only show a major trend with voters. And PiS has clearly gained the ground since the last local elections.

You are very resistant to arguments. But that's all right, I guess we'll have to wait until 2019 parliamentary elections to continue with this discussion. Time will pass anyway.

I'm not "from London, UK". I'm a Polish Pole from Poland :-). I am simply temporarily living in London until I finish my current contract.

Idiotic as it may sound, at least then we could all have fun as a community in the sunshine, street parties et al

Yes, it does sound idiotic :-). If celebrating freedom an independence sounds "confrontational" to you then you're already lost my friend

it is grammatically feminine gender, plus Poland had been always depicted as a female.

I like to be precise with words since they are like a programming code for our brains. And more, the are a cultural "operating system" for the whole society.

And changing one's perception of the world starts with naming.

Maybe we should start changing this perception of "Fatherland"?

Warm, feminine "Motherland" that brings comfort and a sense of maternal security in mind may sound well in times of peace. Hard times, however, demand stronger and somewhat less maternal traits.

As I said the guy on YouTube is not Irish. He's a Geordie. The accent is that of the North East of England.

Duly noted.

News / Poland's post-election political scene [4080]

hat's what you call a party on the rise?

Be so kind and don't twist my words. I wrote: "In Poland there's a completely different trend and conservatism is on the rise" not that "Kukiz 15 is on the rise".

The projected results right now:

PiS - 257
KO - 192
PSL - 70
SLD - 10
BS - 10
MN - 5

Like you can clearly see, even those partial and still unofficial results that you've shared clearly shows that PiS has gained more popularity since local elections in 2014 when they won 171 mandates.

2014 local elections were followed by gaining a majority for PiS in the Parliament elections in 2015.

Those early 2018 local results shows that PiS will also gain a majority in 2019 Parliamentary elections.

Motherland it is Motherland not Fatherland.

Father means ojciec, and Fatherland means the land of our fathers. 'Ziemia naszych ojcow' = Ojczyzna

Motherland points to, well, mother and it refers to 'Macierz', which is not very popular and archaic term dated back to the First Polish Republic few hundred years ago.

Life / Graffiti problem in Poland [38]

[moved from]

I was impressed with everything I saw except graffiti

Yes, there are graffiti marks in some cities of Poland. Not in my hometown though. We've only got one major football club so there are no groups of competing football fans marking the walls :-). And we've also have an American Football team. Graffti in Poland is in no way related to gangs like it used to be, and maybe still is, in the US.

[and] public hospitals

I tend to avoid public service and I've bought myself a private medical insurance. I don't fancy spending half a day waiting in a line just to receive a sub par treatment. But to be fair British public health service is not better than Polish. I support privatization of Polish health service but this going to be difficult, since many people are scared of fundamental changes.
