USA, Canada / 15 hr. motion on a minimum wage. (USA) [16]

Does it matter if i'm from money??? That has nothing to do with this

You do understand though that if you increase minimum wage and the inflation rate increases by the same rate then your buying power will be exactly the same....thus you haven't changed a thing.

Now I can see increasing the minimum rate by like 2$ sure but what they are talking about is doubling it, I sure hope that then all those on salaries get to see their incomes go up 100%

Plus also please do realize many states are getting their minimum wages increase within the next few years... so like every year they are going up some .75 cents which isnt going to beat out the rate of inflation.

and also considering minimum wage was 1$ in 1960... that would equate to $7.75 in this day and age. Now in 1968 it hit an all time high that today would equate to 8.56$ but that is the all time high

Also this increase in minimum wage would NOT cause any change in income inequality what so ever either.
But over all you increase the minimum wage this much you will only be eliminating current jobs, and you will only be increasing the prices for all other goods and services.

BTW I'm a business owner, who if he hires someone will be in the $18-$21/hr. range.

...... If you owned like a mcdonalds I'm 100% sure you would not be paying that cashier 18$ HAHAHAHA different business tend to pay different amounts so i'm sure you pay the standard amount

I also do hope that you are importing and not exporting if you are located within the U.S with the recent appreciation of the U.S dollar exporting is now becoming much more expensive and importing much cheaper. Now luckily this should cause a decrease in inflation but also a low AD and lower economic growth. This would also be assuming that demand is relatively elastic for whatever you do.

USA, Canada / 15 hr. motion on a minimum wage. (USA) [16]

It has everything to do with it.

Alright well whatever No I did not grow up with money, i've grown up middle upper-middle class.

Raising the minimum wage will increase demand

Higher minimum wage means some job loss meaning higher prices meaning a decrease in demand not an increase.

But I hope that you do realize that this will not really affect the poverty rate at all either. I just did a research fact sheet on the cut down of unemployment benefits. So maybe instead of raising the minimum wage by 40% in most states they should put some money back into other programs that will help those who are unemployed.

Hint, Henry Ford doubled the pay of his workers in 1915 so that they could afford to buy the cars he was building, thereby increasing demand.

HEHE, really really LOL. Hint, he did this to only make more money for himself LOL. But the main reason that he did this was in fact to stop employee turnover, so he really did this to save himself money. labor turnover at the Ford Motor Company had been so high that, in 1912, 52,000 men had to be hired to retain 14,000 workers. Productivity soared and employee turnover plunged, and the cost per vehicle plummeted. "The resulting savings were so great that despite sharply rising costs for all materials in the next few years, Ford could produce and sell its Model T at a lower price and yet make a larger profit per car,"

Now also think about this, I'll admit what Ford did was a very very smart business move. But when he increase the wage he was the only one to do so. Thus making his company the one everyone wanted to work for as you got top dollar their. (His main reason was the stoppage of turnover) But now think about if the minimum wage in increased by all companies. Then that wont lower turnover because you can still make the same amount at any other company. Thus you cant bring in what Ford did back then and compare it to nowadays. 20% of a persons salary is how much it costs a company on average to have that employee quit. So now when you think back to ford

At the time, workers could count on about $2.25 per day, for which they worked nine-hour shifts. It was pretty good money in those days, but the toll was too much for many to bear. Ford's turnover rate was very high. In 1913, Ford hired more than 52,000 men to keep a workforce of only 14,000. New workers required a costly break-in period, making matters worse for the company. Also, some men simply walked away from the line to quit and look for a job elsewhere. Then the line stopped and production of cars halted. The increased cost and delayed production kept Ford from selling his cars at the low price he wanted. Drastic measures were necessary if he was to keep up this production.

forbes/sites/timworstall/2012/03/04/the-story-of-henry-fords-5-a-day-wages-its-not-what-you-think/

So if you wanna look at it from this perspective well their are a few options, Ford did this because overall it lowered costs for him, he had just invented the assembly line witch cut down the cost tremendously and now stopped turnover at his company

1. Change from employee's to machines
2. Increase current productivity.... Which the increase in wage may do this itself but doubtfully
3. We all know that production is more expensive in the U.S than elsewhere so instead move production across the water or into mexico

It doesn't help the economy when Wal Mart pays so low that the workers qualify for food stamps. That's a huge subsidy for business and contradicts the "Free Market".

Yes well now this I actually agree with it is sad but then again at least these people have a job and aren't living under the poverty line. But again its how things work turnover at walmart is high, but the cost is lower. So its no sweat to them and their is always another new eager person ready to apply and take over.

It's an exception.

We're taught these are exceptions but in fact there are rules or patterns based on the sounds of the words.

Is there a rule about making words plural that I can use?? I notice that there are many different ways to make words plural any where from (imię to Imiona, kuchnia to Kuchnie, matka to Matki, Klasa to Klasy, ojciec to ojcowie, pies to psy, student to Studenci, koń to konie) So how do I know when to add an a or ie or y or just an i or sy or even a ci?? Is there some rule that would make it easier to remember how to change these words? Or do I just need to memorize them all?

Thank you

If you want 2 basic rules for the nominative that will mean you make a lot of errors but probably you can get away with it -

NOOO really lol damn I was hoping for a nice rule, guess i'll just have to work on memorizing them all. Rather learn the right way with no mistakes than form bad habits

Don't give me sixpack

naaaa haha give me the sixpack haha LOL

I personally don't really know enough poles to make a call on this I Know some pretty damn hot poles though, although i'm sure there are always ugly ones to go along. But from what I hear as in things like if I were to go to Poland I would get a lot of comments on my teeth, because they are are so white and clean which I hear isn't exactly a top issue for those in Europe. this is just what I hear so don't go hating on me lol idk if it is true

News / Krakow, Poland considers co-hosting the Winter Olympic in 2022 with Slovakia (UPDATE) [30]

2022 Olympic Winter Games in Krakow?

Would be cool to see Krakow host the 2022 Olympics what do you think?? Does Poland actually have a shot at doing this? And would they be able to pull it off?

The Applicant Cities of Krakow (Poland), Oslo (Norway), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Lviv (Ukraine) and Beijing (China)* all met the 14 March 2014 deadline for submission to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of their Application Files to host the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

Not very cool, since many schools and hospitals are falling down, public sector wages are appalling, old age pensions minimal and any main road not upgraded with EU money dangerous.

But dont forget this is 8 years out, plenty of time and maybe the motivation needed to upgrade the surrounding area.

Being the only country in Europe that didn't bother to show the Paralympics

..... Why is that bad, does anyone even watch it when its on hahaaha I dont know anyone who watches that lol

So what? Where is the money going to come from any why should it be wasted on winter Olympic games when there are so many better things to spend it on?

If done in the right way though you can make money. Even the London Olympics made money, Vancouver broke ever, China made money, Salt Lake made money, Sochi most def had to of lost money cause of security costs,. So whats wrong with it???

The only negative that I can see if the aftermath of what happens to these buildings, London did a great job unlike that of Athens, Moscow or Beijing, who did not think about the after effects of holding the games. So if Poland were to make it happen the right way I think it could definitely be something great.

Idk but the only reason I usually come on is for the chat and check up to see if anyone I actually like is on it. And then after that ill check the actual threads. Without chat I wont be on here one bit to check threads, and will only come on if I have a question to post. That's all so really i'll never check up on here again haha

Not exactly sure how to even read what you posted.

I've also answered many other people's threads, that is when/if i can give them a proper answer. I will admit that yes I've probably received more information than I have given, but that isnt due to me just ignoring people when I see a question I can answer. I rarely see questions that are about something I have an interest in and or that I truly know enough about to be helpful. My main point was that, i could come on here everyday and check the threads and maybe be able to contribute to maybe one thread a day max, while when there was a chat, it was more just everyday talk and stuff. I mean anyone can talk about everyday stuff, and I also found it helpful to just ask questions on chat many times rather than start a whole thread. It was just faster when the right people were on anyway. I understand that the chat hasnt really been used much lately. But maybe thats because you have been banning so many users that contributed a lot to this forum. Bring back guys like delph and a few others and you will get much more traffic back to the site i'm sure. Since delph has left many others have stopped coming on and posting. I have also noticed that even the threads do seem much slower and not as many new ones are being posted. Overall I dont get why get rid of the chat, it didnt hurt anyone to have it there. Chat was fun, while also giving good advice and information when you needed a quick and simple question answered about poland and such. Just saying, thats just my 2 cents.

Study / MBA in Poland for 40+ and older? [62]

Merged: English MBA programs in Poland for U.S student

If you have Polish citizenship you get free education in Poland right??
I'm not sure if I still have my citizenship but it wouldn't be hard to get back, are their any other requirements other than just the citizenship to be eligible for the free education?

I'll be graduating from University in the U.S next December and then am looking at going to Poland for my MBA. I'm currently studying International Business Management.

Also so far I'm unable to find many universities in Poland that offer MBA programs in International Business or really in Business Management at all. Is there some site that I should be using?? I will have to do the program in English so that may be why i'm getting such low results. Would doing the program in Poland cost me? Or do they assume that those who want to take it in English don't have citizenship.

I really want to go abroad for my MBA, I haven't exactly decided where. I've also been looking at Dubai.

I'm sure i'll have more questions to come, but thank you for now!
