Live Chat removed, irrelevant forums and discussions removed

We have decided to remove the live chat and a couple of other forum categories that weren't relevant to discussions about Poland and Polish matters. In other words - no more classified ads on PolishForums. If you want to contact someone, you may send a private message to him/her.

We hope this change will allow both current and new members re-shift and focus on relevant discussions about Poland and Polish matters. That's what PF is all about. Enjoy!

Idk but the only reason I usually come on is for the chat and check up to see if anyone I actually like is on it. And then after that ill check the actual threads. Without chat I wont be on here one bit to check threads, and will only come on if I have a question to post. That's all so really i'll never check up on here again haha

Those who won't be answering your question will keep that in mind ;). It's great to have friends to benefit from them only. It's hard to get this new generation, isn't it ;).

Not exactly sure how to even read what you posted.

I've also answered many other people's threads, that is when/if i can give them a proper answer. I will admit that yes I've probably received more information than I have given, but that isnt due to me just ignoring people when I see a question I can answer. I rarely see questions that are about something I have an interest in and or that I truly know enough about to be helpful. My main point was that, i could come on here everyday and check the threads and maybe be able to contribute to maybe one thread a day max, while when there was a chat, it was more just everyday talk and stuff. I mean anyone can talk about everyday stuff, and I also found it helpful to just ask questions on chat many times rather than start a whole thread. It was just faster when the right people were on anyway. I understand that the chat hasnt really been used much lately. But maybe thats because you have been banning so many users that contributed a lot to this forum. Bring back guys like delph and a few others and you will get much more traffic back to the site i'm sure. Since delph has left many others have stopped coming on and posting. I have also noticed that even the threads do seem much slower and not as many new ones are being posted. Overall I dont get why get rid of the chat, it didnt hurt anyone to have it there. Chat was fun, while also giving good advice and information when you needed a quick and simple question answered about poland and such. Just saying, thats just my 2 cents.

Agreed.

Traffic remains as strong as ever. The quality is what matters, not quantity; hence, the recent shake-up. I'm sure nobody was 'banned' for nothing. There was a choice - to ban a prolific poster who would personally abuse others or to let it go. We let it go for as long as we could but then it was unfair to others. Still, anyone deserves a second chance and we welcome anyone as long as they don't repeat the same steps that could not be accepted by the rest of the community.

Chat was a temporary thing that might answer a question, but it would not stay for other users to read if they had the same question in the future. Besides, it was too often a place for personal games and agendas that continues into the forum discussions.

I never used the chat option so I won't miss it. But the classifieds in part may be missed.

Merged: Random thread closed - why?not closed any more.

MODS...

So is this forum dead?

Why have you closed the random thread? I want to talk about idiotic things, like my labradors' love for Jimi Hendrix, and you:

1. Deleted it, although it was relevant:)

2. I can't respond further to Rogers' musical input viz a vie Miles Davis because you think that culture has no place on this board...

SO is chat, and culture and lifestyle banned here?

IF you had a culture and lifestyle section here you would have 5 TIMES the traffic.

Why is there NO FUN here?

There is a culture and lifestyle section here. If you click on the 'Life' forum, you will see this definition of the category:-

' Poles and expats share their views on living in Poland. Discuss Polish traditions, customs and culture'.

Discuss Polish traditions, customs and culture'.

So where can you discuss 'off topic' culture, such as the aforementioned Jimi Hendrix and his awesome greatness?

Assuming this is the right place for this comment on a change to the forums, thanks for increasing the time limit on editing posts; it's a distinct improvement.
