Work / Swedish speaking job in Warsaw. Salary? [9]

probably 5000-5300. cause I am from sweden too and got a jobb offer in Katowice (as 1st Level IT Service)

Dane here.

I advice you to ask/go for 6000zl gross.

5000 - 5300 is enough to live just fine, but Warsaw is 15-25% more expensive then Katowice, so try and get that little extra on top.

Held of lykke!

Work / What salary can be asked at IBM Poland? [67]

food for one person you could be able to survive with 60 zl a week

60 zl a week, you are joking right?

That is way low. Even if your on the cheap.
Apartment with 2 rooms in Katowice all incl. 1600 or more.

+ Internet + Phone = 150 zl per month.

So let's say 5000zl after taxes is about 3700 than 2000zl will be spent on expenses.
Which gives you at the most 1700zl for you, your wife + the baby and supporting your parents back home.

There is no way buddy.

Work / What salary can be asked at IBM Poland? [67]

IBM offering me 5000 zloty gross at katowice.
I want to move with wife and 9 months baby. My parents Will be in India. And I have to support them also.

I wouldn't recommend it.
5000ZL gross would support you and your wife to a pretty normal life, but with the baby + supporting your parents back home, 5000 is not sustainable.

Unless its a great opportunity for you to grown professionally, I wouldn't advice you to take it.

Edit:

My mistake, 5000zl Gross wouldn't even be enough for you and your wife.
I read it as net...

Law / What documents do I need to register a car in my name in Poland? [18]

I appreciate all the replies, thanks a lot!

I believe I know what needs to be done now.
Anyhow, does anybody know where I can find my Local Gmina office if I live in Kazimierz in Krakow?

If you have a Pesel, you should have a meldunek as well - as fas as I know they are interconnected.

Since my Company got my Pesel number for me I am not sure that I have such a thing.

Law / What documents do I need to register a car in my name in Poland? [18]

Hi,

I have been living in Poland for several years now. I will be purchasing a car here in Poland later this week. I have a Pesel number and I thought this would be enough when I go to the transport department. But now I start to doubt, I read a blog that says I need to bring my ''tymczasowe zameldowanie'', and to be honest I have no idea what is this, and If I ever fill it out.

Could someone perhaps help me what I might need to do?
Thanks a lot!

Love / Age difference in relationship with a guy or girl from Poland? [28]

My friend living here in Poland is dating a woman who is 35 while he is 23. And I have never seen a happier couple, they are together for close to a year now.

Stop these opinions on age differences, race, etc.

Is it love, its love. Why does anybody care about others opinions??

Work / Living off 5500zl in Krakow? (accounting job) [9]

I would be getting 5500zl gross - 3900zl net. Is it enough to live in Krakow?

You will be just fine!
Rent a room for around 900ZL, and you will have 3000ZL to have fun for.
I lived for 1.5 year in Krakow on a budget of 3000ZL after rent, and you live veryy good life! You could easily save like 500ZL pr. month even.

Can I ask which company you will come and work for?

Study / Tips/advice for an Erasmus student in Lodz [10]

I was thinking 300€ = 1200zly more or less per month with shared expenses to be the minimum for living.

Not enough. Lodz is cheap, but still.
You can rent a room (shared even) but will still cost you around 300ZL.
So now you are down to 900ZL for living the rest of the month + a phone bill probably + transportation etc.

Consider going there with a budget of 2000ZL pr. month, and if you spent less, great.
You might also want to travel around Poland a little, and with a budget of 1200ZL pr. month, that will be very tough..

Life / Moving to Krakow (and other questions) [23]

It's true you can make an actual very good living from working in one of these call centers, but you will need to know a specific language.

Considering that the OP probably only knows English, then I would have to agree with Dominic that the salary will be sh*t and you can not afford an apartment in the center with the salary he would be getting, even a room in the center could be a stretch.

Work / Dutch speaker (native) experienced in Finance: job opportunities in Poland [63]

In Warsaw? Not a chance. You'll be able to live, but don't expect to save anything.

That's not only Warsaw, I'd sat this goes for all the major cities in Poland.

- If you want adventure? Come to Poland.
- If you want girls? Come to Poland.
- If you want to start a career in an international company? Come to Poland.
- If you want money? Don't come to Poland.

Couldn't agree more!

You can find a job who pay's 4000net as I said, either way I do not believe you'd come here for the job as I can promise it most likely will be nothing interesting.

Just like the rest of the dutch here, they come for the women! And yes I generalize because it's the truth.

Work / Dutch speaker (native) experienced in Finance: job opportunities in Poland [63]

Ppl on this forum is talking out of their arse sometimes..
Look getting 4000net is very realistic. You might have to apply a few places, but for sure they'll give you this. Its less than 6000zl gross which here in Krakow is a very normal salary for a starting position with native dutch.

Look, Poland doesn't provide any high salaries in any corporations. Your salary after your hired will more or less not change even after 3-5 years. But 4000net is considered to be a decent salary, but I wouldn't say so.. You can probably save a little bit, considering that you do not travel almost at all and if you only shop in Biedronka or some other extreme discount shop!

If you make 4000net in Poland you only come here to have fun, and that's that. The job you will be doing is super boring, the money you'll be making sucks, but the country is beautiful as well as the women, and the alcohol and quality of life is decent.

Work / Medical tests before working in Poland [23]

I got a job in Poland as customer service in my own language.

So this is an office job.
I had the same before starting my job, they check your sight, and simply ask questions of you have any medical issues and that is that.

Takes 10 minutes tops.

Love / english girl struggling with polish boyfriend's friends [20]

uess I am just struggling with getting used to the differences between the cultures maybe. And I am so nervous I am probably reading too much into this.

It's IMO straight up rude, and has nothing to do with culture.

I had a girlfriend (Polish) and whenever we were together with my foreign friends with whom I could speak my native language we always agreed that if we have someone with us who do not speak the language we always speak English.

Unfortuantly this was not the case at all being with her friends, I experienced the same thing as you do now. After informing her about this issue several times, without anything changes, I took the consequences and broke up as I feel like it shows a huge lack of respect for the other person.

So honestly I am not sure how this issue could be solved, but I guess try being open and speak with them.

Real Estate / Best area in Krakow to live? [43]

Okay, its a good area for a family with green field's etc. and if you have a car it's great.
Well, since you'll be working in Podgorze I'd recommend you to look for something in the south part of the city.
Górka Narodowa is in the north so when going to work you'd have to cross all the way across town, and by car with the traffic in the morning it might take some time.

I'd suggest you to look for something in Debniki (there is a nice lake, and green areas) and also you can look in Podgorze, but beaware of which district in Podgorze as not all places are very nice. You can also check out Ruczaj and Lagiewniki area. Good place's for families and not far from your work place as all these district are south of the river.

Real Estate / Best area in Krakow to live? [43]

It's quiet far from the center and all. But the apartments out there are usually quiet new and good standard, and off course its cheaper there than in Kazimierz for example.

It also depends if you have a family with you, or if your planing to buy a car in that case it is nice. Or if you will be working in this area?

Love / What should I do for my polish boyfriend? We met in China. [3]

If the story is true (from his side) then he's a very noble man, and showing you the out most respect by declining having a life long relationship with you, when he know's that he'll soon become a burden for you.

But continue to give him encouragement, it might help him. Yet do not try to force him.

Travel / A four days vacation, where to go in Poland? [39]

Try Solina lake, it's quite nice there ;) Especially for a couple.

Agreed Solina is really nice, and very cheap compared to the bigger cities around Poland.

Take her to Lwow in Ukraine.
It's a bit cheaper than Poland and the city is beautiful!
Keep your eyes straight though, the women are gorgeous there!

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

Is this before or after tax?
If before tax forget about this, it will give you about 3.5k.

Come on, many foreigner's in this city work's and lives for less!
Even if the 5click are before taxes, he'll still make 3,5 and then just simply rent a room for 1000ZL including bills and he'll have around 2,5 PLN to enjoy which is enough to live quiet comfortable.

So assuming your young, and don't mind renting a nice room instead of your own flat I def say go for it.

Work / Salary 'under the table' in Poland? [15]

Go to Nordea and get a Visa electron.
It is not a credit card, but a debit card which you can use on these major website's that you mention.

Nordea will give this card to basically everyone no matter your income, hence it is a debit card.

Any suggestions for a better-learning of Polish? I really need that, bo kocham polskie:)

We are looking for Turkish speaker's at my firm in Krakow, so if relocating to Poland has an interest for you, that would be the best way to learn the language :-)

Work / Krakow: possible job offer: 6.500 PLN [20]

The Verona Tarasy is indeed a nice estate, but firstly way overpriced and secondly in a terrible boring neighborhood.
Go to Krakow.gumtree.pl use google chrome and translate the page to English and look there for an apartment.

I was making your salary my first year in Poland, and with that salary honestly do not blow more than 15-1800 PLN per. Month at the most for and apartment + Utilities.

You will find it in Krakow that you spend most of the time outside your apartment anyway's, and nobody give's a damn if you have a nice place or not (even you will feel this way over time)..

Living on 3000ZL per month you will manage to live the lifestyle you request above. So find a smaller/lower standard apartment and spend more money on having a good time, it's def worth it.

Anyway's which company will you be working for? I might assume IBM as you are choosing your housing in Bronowice, but I can off course be wrong.
