Genealogy / How common is it for other people of Polish origin to discover they are actually Jewish? [127]

What is funny is when some actual events surface which seem to confirm those stereotypes ;)
For example:

haaretz.com/news/israel-police-uncovers-organ-trafficking-ring-in-north-1.905
haaretz.com/news/international/report-israeli-suspected-of-running-ukraine-organ-trafficking-ring-1.306470
haaretz.com/news/national/interpol-hunts-two-israelis-for-kosovo-organ-trafficking-1.324383

:D :D

Now, would someone be allowed to say: statistically Israelis are more involved in organ trafficking than other nationalities? :D

Also, I was really amazed when I learned how many famous Hollywood actors are Jewish.

Language / Czech language sounds like baby talk to most Poles. Similarities? [222]

just tell me how easy it is "because you know Polish"

I got the idea what it is all about, with no prior Czech exposure. I did better than Czech->Polish google translation but worse than Czech->English google translator. The important thing to do is to try to get the sound right in your head and it starts falling into places (mostly).

History / Warsaw Rising 1944 - National Disaster or Triumph of Spirit ? [395]

Warsaw Uprising was the continuation of Operation Tempest. Now, do you think AK leadership in Warsaw didn't know what happened to those Home Army units who tried to help Russians advance in Kresy? (which was also already illogical because since June 1943 Soviet partisants were as much focused on fighting the Poles as they were on fighting the Germans).

It's the opposite of an anti-semite. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philo-Semitism

That would imply that Philo-Semitism = racism.

It seems that you are the racist, implying that Jews run every country they have a large population in.

No it is you who is racist implying that Jewish race in general is better than Poles.

I am ashamed of my grandparents generation's views on Jews, they never caused us any trouble and lived amongst us in peace for almost 1000 years. Many Poles really were really quite anti-semetic before the war with incidents such the Pinsk Pogrom of 1918 a stain on our history. Not to mention the Kielce Pogrom of 1946 which I believe Poland should officially apologise for.

I don't think you are a Pole with Jewish roots. I think you are a troll who came here for an opportunity to write about some "pogroms", which apart from being a ridiculous term, was always a Russian and Ukrainian specialty.

BTW the commie Jews are responsible for much more gentile deaths than all "pogroms" combined, not that I aprove of holding all Jews responsible for that.

and therefore technically I'm also Jewish. How common is it for other people of Polish origin to discover they are actauly Jewish?

You are who you want to be - not who your great grandmother was.
Still, it is interesting how people upon learning they have some Jewish blood in them, all of a sudden embrace it and act like it determines their identity.

Life / The Blame Game (Have you ever noticed that a Polish person is never wrong!?) [205]

You are some kido, who would have problems to make a zloty here If not that you were born in an English speaking family

That made me grin :D
There are kids like him among Poles too, but he is a guest here, he should know better, it always looks bad when a foreigner uses phrases like "subhuman Polish scum".

Untill Tusk, and whatever stupid government in Poland, realises, what a hell it is to, actually do business here, it will always be a backward country.

Poland has been ruled mostly by either post communists or ex trade union activists. Small business owners by definition don't make it into Sejm.

Life / People living in Warsaw are rootless peasants! [41]

No.

See the woods map:

I see that the wildboar population density is roughly consistent with the woods concentration.
But since you keep marking the old German border - are those wildboars German and reproduce accordingly?

Do you know why it is so?

Egkhm, more woods in those areas?
BTW your admirable Germans obviously didn't plunder their own forests, but did so when they occupied Poland.

You can't even spell it right idiot. Looks like you are a fascist in your own country but being an immigrant you'd like everybody to be a welcoming commie, so typical.

pawian: What are you trying to say? That "Poland A" somehow lives off pre war German accomplishments? You do realize how those areas were devasted in 1945? Do you know how Wrocław, Gdańsk, Głogów, Kołobrzeg etc. looked like after "liberation"?

And how exactly the fact that Wielkopolska is host to some industrial pork "factories" is a success? And do you know how many of those old German railway lines are actually used today?

News / Polish Students Striking in Lithuania [80]

Polish minority in Lithuania are somewhat right wing

"Right wing" cause they feel they are Polish and don't want to be Lithuanians? For some people anyone who has some kind of national identity and is not gay is "right wing".

What is strange is that apart from Greater Poland and part of Upper Silesia, most of the orange areas are people who have been repatriated from the Kresy, so eastwards from the so called "Polska B", which BTW is a term used by losers.

Still, they coloured the areas uniformly orange or uniformly blue giving the impression that the votes were all in favour of one candidate, while in fact the difference was likely at most a few percent.

Enough with the "Polska B" bullcrap.

Law / How Much Does It Cost To Form a Political Party In Poland? [15]

I suppose there should be a BIG RED text under each nick stating whether the poster is Polish or has Polish roots. I noticed that it is mostly foreigners who keep writing crap like this, especially towards Polonia, but visitors of this site may get the impression that Polish people are stupid jerks.

History / Has Poland ever participated in any big wars (except WW2)? [73]

What a pity Polish leaders at the time were so intent on retaliation and so blind!

Wrong. Do you think Czechs made ANY step towards reconciliation with Poland? The leadership of Czechoslovakia put all their trust in France, UK and Stalin's Russia and wasn't interested in alliance with Poland.

That Poland had very good relations with Hungary - a country that had justifiable territorial claims towards Czechoslovakia - didn't help either, but the fact remains that Czechoslovakian politcians are more to blame for the lack of Polish - Czechoslovakian alliance than Polish politicians.

So we agree that Poland's elections should not have been organised in the disputed areas and that because of those elections Czech forces entered the areas.

Only a person with strong antipolish bias would accept that as a valid reason for Czech invasion of Zaolzie and hostile stance during Polish-Soviet war. Many Poles talk today about the events of 1938 as a mistake but really I can't imagine how Polish interbellum politicians could act differently back then. For them Czechoslovakia was a greedy, hostile state that couldn't be trusted, a state that would use every opportunity to harm Poland and wouldn't even try to reconcile with Poland, not even apologize for what they did in 1920.

and invaded czechoslovakia

How could Poles invade Czechoslovakia AFTER Czechoslovakian government agreed to give Zaolzie to Poland?
And you know why did Czechs agree to that? Because their fate was already sealed, thanks to their British and French allies. Brits and French made Munich happen, not Poles.

History / Bad luck of Poland or something else? - constant occupatiuon by different vermin [11]

ishatu2: what kind of a marron are you to sneak a reference to Zaolzie conflict into a thread about EU and NATO?
BTW your beloved Czechs some time earlier closed their borders during Polish-Soviet war so that the Soviets could finish Poles off (which luckily did not happen). That was followed with them violating earlier agreement and invading the Zaolzie land, where a plebiscite was scheduled to take place.

As to 1938 - good move by Poles, the Czechs didn't deserve anything better (although Polish takeover of Zaolzie was the consequence of the decisions which have already been made by Brits and French). Even with the threat of Hitler, they never even did anything to reconcile with Poland.

Law / Difference between an expat and a immigrant (or permanet resident) in Poland [41]

Living, working, paying taxes etc. in Poland alone doesn't make you even 1% Polish. In fact, I know an immigrant who hates Poles but lives and works here and even dates a Polish girl. The fact that you use the word "Pollack" proves the point exactly. When you bash people of Polish origin just because they are proud of their Polishness - then you are a lowlife at best in the eyes of Poles.

History / Should Poland organize March of the Living in Volhynia and Eastern Lesser Poland? [27]

Shouldn't we take example in how Jews commemorate their victims? Shouldn't we make young generations remember those events, just like Jews do?
A nation which forgets its history is doomed to go through it again.
The genocide of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Lesser Poland perpetrated by Ukrainian nationalists bears striking resemblance to Holocaust in that its goal was to physically exterminate whole population including women and children. You may think that the Ukrainians "just" wanted to make Poles leave their villages, where they lived since middle ages - that was unfortunately not the case since UPA officers openly asked Poles to stay and even gave them "guarantees" on paper reassuring them that no harm will be done.

If you know Polish - take a look at this documentary about the Massacre of Wola Ostrowiecka:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacre_of_Wola_Ostrowiecka

Towards the end of that documentary a guy recalls how his grandfather was murdered because he couldn't believe that Ukrainians could be murdering Poles for no reason (other than that they were Poles), so he went to talk with them and obviously - was murdered.

The other issue is: how should Poland honour the memory of those Ukrainians who didn't join UPA but instead saved Poles by hiding them from their countrymen? Should Poland also take example from the Jewish "Righteous among the Nations" initiative?

History / Chance of Lwów once again became coming part of Poland [344]

Some documentary airs today on TVP Info on Volhynia massacres (which were not really limited to Volhynia). They describe it as:

Dokumentalna opowieść o zbrodniach, których w pierwszej połowie lat czterdziestych ukraińscy nacjonaliści dokonali na Polakach mieszkających na Wołyniu i w Małopolsce Wschodniej.

I like how they used the proper name for the area of Lwów, Tarnopol and Stanisławów - Małopolska Wschodnia.

News / Should Poland leave the EU institution? [147]

I'm pretty sure that it's just a myth arising from the common myth that the American Interstates were to be used for such a purpose.

PRL colonel Stanisław Radaj from General Staff said something else in a documentary (War Games), but you know better...
You do often talk about things you know nothing about?

Many were build so that Warsaw pact big military planes could land on them :) Some PRL general talked about it.

Language / Is the term 'Polak' derogatory?? [254]

I don't think I'm Polish

You could stop right here dude.
Since you are not Polish, nobody here gives a foock about your opinion on the matter who is Polish and who is not.
I don't know a Polish person who would use the word "Polack" or would badmouth people of Polish origin who are proud of their Polishness - irrespective of how real it is. By doing so you will be perceived as attacking all Poles (real Poles if you insist).
