News / Will you be proud of tranny (transsexual) representing Poland ? [124]

You can explain why Brits shrug their shoulders at 14 year old mothers and why TV documentaries show major cities as 'No-Go' areas as drunken yobs run rampage on a Friday night.

But its ok, the music is alright!

How old are you, 14?

DESPITE (or possibly even because of) the fact that the UK is such a sh**hole, we have lots of great things here.

Just like, despite the fact that Poland also has many great things, millions are/were desperate to leave. Can't be that great, then!

News / Will you be proud of tranny (transsexual) representing Poland ? [124]

Well yeah, look at the success of the anything-goes liberal approach in the UK

Well worth copying that.

Despite its many problems, this country is still decades ahead of Poland in many ways.

Come back when Poland has a music/club scene which is copied and envied by many other countries around the world, then you can talk. Oh, sorry, I forgot... I'll be long dead by then :p

This really shouldn't be news at all.

Of course it shouldn't. It's not as if the straight Catholics in power are exactly known for doing a great job of running things, are they?

Unfortunately, there are still a lot of people in Poland (and on this forum) who think that homophobia, misogyny and macho posturing are Polish "traditions" worth preserving.

And that's what this thread is about, really - a shameless troll thread, just waiting for someone to come along and start an anti-tranny rant, so all the karki can come along and agree.

Genealogy / Why Polish aren't white?? [272]

I know, but someone above seems to think this can happen in one generation :D

I have a photo of me and four other people - one each of English, Trinidadian, Irish and South African descent. I look very similar to the South African (I never sunbathe), but nowhere near as pale as the English and Irish people in the photo. Just don't call me nigga, whitey ;)

USA, Canada / US Polonia 70% for Kaczyński [343]

We cannot talk about their level of contribution: these people contribute nothing to Poland. But they still think that they should still have the right to tell Poles how Poland should be run. Pathetic.

People who think that there is such a thing as "pierogies" shouldn't be allowed to decide how Poland is run, simples.

Love / What are the best love poems in Polish to receive? [77]

You guys need a stronger moderator. My relationship ended when I gave this to my girl. Thanks for nothing. You can keep your Polish Forum and shove it where the sun don't shine!!!!!!!

Then you're as dumb as the people who get Chinese tattoos, without being able to read that it actually says "I Am Stupid Gweilo" and not "I Love Chantelle-Jade" :D

Travel / Why does everyone seem to hate LOT Polish Airlines? [380]

lol, that place reminds me of the old Etiuda terminal. Four A340s turn up at the same time, with one hour to transfer to another flight... and they have four people on security. The toilets are worse than a nightclub at 4am. And everyone ignores the "don't sleep on the prayer room floor" signs :D

It's not often that we can say that Poland is ahead of a rich oil-producing state, but they are on this one :)

This thread should be merged with this thread, really: Why does everyone seem to hate LOT Polish Airlines?

I shouldn't be doing the mods job for them lol ;)

Good: Qatar Airways

Without doubt the best in-flight food I've ever had, better than some restaurants. There's no way you would get a decent main-course curry at 6am on a LOT flight, that's for sure :)

Life / Rate Poland (Life Quality / Culture and People / Food): 1-10! [232]

However good what you have at home, part of the purpose of eating out for me is to try something a bit more sophisticated, something that you don't usually eat everyday

Kind of.

But I like the occasional restaurant/takeaway simply because it's a break from my own food, or a break from the need to cook for myself. I often order something I would cook at home, but it's nice to taste someone else's version sometimes.

I can't imagine ever making sushi at home though, so I would go to a restaurant specifically for that, though.

Life / Rate Poland (Life Quality / Culture and People / Food): 1-10! [232]

because most of the time, it's the only food they know.

Or, in many cases, it's the only food they want to know.

My mum has many stories of visitors who "don't want to eat anything except Polish food" :(

Hopefully this is changing now, but the change will be slow.

Polonia / What similarities would you say there are between Poles and Mexicans? [132]

Poles don't immigrate here illegally.

They both steal and assault helpless victims.

Nice to see all this wonderful "on-topic" anti-Polish racism on here tonight :p

Everything always seems to degenerate into ethnic slurs on here. Start a thread on food, and someone will be discussing the "Jewish question" by post #10.

UK, Ireland / Are Polish people importing a new wave of ancient racism into the UK? [402]

Most people like bringing along blacks for vacation because they normally know how to have fun better than other races

WTF??

You moan about racist Polish people, then you come out with a racist pile of crap like that? Have you got any more tired stereotypes about whites you can use while you're on here? You know, like we haven't got rhythm, we can't jump, or we can't "match up" to the cool guys with the guns and the gold chains, or some other rubbish like that?

Besides, "Bringing along blacks for vacation" sounds like something a slave trader would do.

Life / Expats/Immigrants in Poland: Needy, Greedy or contributor. Which one are you? [118]

Greedy - Only in it for the money, when the money dry's up they will be on the next Plane out of town. You normally find them sucking on the belly, of most tiger economies around the world.

Like many recent Polish immigrants in the UK or Ireland, you mean? ;)

I'm no supporter of expats or the "expat" lifestyle, but you are sadly wrong if you think that all expats move to their adopted countries by choice. Do you think people are queueing up to live in places like Port Moresby for the "lifestyle"?

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

PS my wife is from Serbia and she says she is from Eastern Europe.

You also said that your children were "half Welsh and half English" so what's with the "Serbian wife" crap?

You hate eastern Europeans and probably all Slavs as well, so why on earth would you marry a Serb?

News / SPECIAL REPORT: The Brits who left the UK for a life in Poland [28]

but I think what is so endearing about Polish women is they don't play games,' says Tom.

Aww, bless.

He'll learn. Eventually :D

bwaaaaahahahahaha!

Indeed.

They only think that because none of these guys know any Polish, so they can't listen to Radio Maryja :)

And they haven't been in the country for long enough to find out what "mohery" are, lol.

Hmm, seems like 'all these Brits' going over to Poland are single men +++++++ That's because Polish girls are lovely and knock the spots off the British beer swilling, pot bellied British lovelies.

- John Shaw, London, 30/9/2011 3:22

It gets better :)

It's so obvious that the "journalists" involved in this article have been reading PF, and the respondent above is clearly a PF member :)

History / Why do Polish people hate to be called Eastern European? [121]

To call this country Eastern European is an insult.

because it associates them with the Soviets and real Poles hate it.

KingAthelstan knows this - and this is exactly why he insists on calling Poland "East European".

What he says is like going on an Indian or Bangladeshi forum and saying "you're not from the Indian sub-continent, you're just Third Worlders - that what we call you in the UK".

It's an insult and he knows it (and why).

History / Why do Polish people hate to be called Eastern European? [121]

Deja vu.

Wasn't there a thread about this only a week ago?

Indeed there was.

Unfortunately, there's a troll who insists on calling Poland "Eastern European", despite the fact that we keep telling him that it's in CENTRAL Europe. But considering that the same idiot thinks that Russia is "not in Asia or in Europe", it's hardly surprising that this nonsense keeps popping up :)

UK, Ireland / Bilingual Polish Primary School in London [18]

there is enough of those bilingual schools in the UK anyway which further degrade the English language, take your language OUT.

Oh, the irony. Another idiot complaining about foreigners degrading the English language, but who can't even get his own grammar right :D

If anyone's doing any "degrading" of the English language, it's mainly those who look up to all those "aspiring rapper" types :p

If Labour had put up immigration caps in 2004 there would not be any need for one.

I was learning Polish at a Saturday school as long ago as 1972. That's slightly before 2004, I believe.

News / Europeén Union will finance the 2nd Warsaw metro line. Good news. [60]

pawian

**** off. YOU learn to read. He didn't say whether it was netto or brutto. Not that it really matters; we were talking about relative costs and relative affordability of public transport tickets.

If you don`t live in Warsaw, what can you know about average earnings there? ?????

What's that got to do with it? I know what the average salary in Hong Kong is, but I don't live there.

Don`t be silly. With 4% unemployment, Warsavians have the highest salaries in Poland, but costs of living there are also high.

I'm not going to argue with that. The last time I read up about it, Katowice had less unemployment and a slightly higher average salary. Clearly that has changed. No big deal.

UK, Ireland / Culture shock (my neighbours in the UK are Polish and Slovak) [88]

a bit of a generalisation

You said it.

Makes you wonder if Poles actually like anyone, doesn't it; if you believe the stuff you read on here, anyway.

I don't have that much experience with Slovaks and Czechs abroad but there was no visible animosity towards Poles from them that I noticed

Apart from the "cowards" dig at Czechs (generally only heard from people who are way over retirement age), the only negative comments I've come across have been towards Slovak Gypsies - in some parts of the UK, they form the majority of the "Slovak" community. Poles generally do NOT like gypsies of any kind, so this is hardly surprising.

Why do you rate yourself so cheaply? Would you work as a street beggar for international gangs or sth when in Warsaw? Come on, with your language skills, you could find a better position.

I was talking about what I'm qualified to do. Over here, my job pays reasonably well. In Poland, it pays badly.

I could do my job in Poland (my Polish is definitely good enough; I know most of the professional terms already, etc), but (a) I know I wouldn't stand a chance - "Polska dla Polaków", remember ;) - and (b) I've no interest in ever becoming an "English teacher".

But it's all irrelevant anyway, I'm not planning on moving to Poland ;)

Having lived 8 years in London and 6 years in Warsaw, and although I don't have hard evidence to back this up, i am not sure I agree..

But a significant proportion of jobs in Warsaw do not pay that much more. Like in London, the median/average is skewed by those earning huge salaries. And that's the point: what seems "cheap" to Western eyes, isn't necessarily so. If you earn 2500 PLN brutto, it's going to be more like 1600 PLN netto (I think). Once you've paid your rent, there's not going to be much left for food and transport, so those tickets won't seem "cheap" any more.

Love / Foreigners: would you have moved to Poland if it was full of fat/ugly women? [42]

I would have moved to see the country anyway, yes. Life is about experience and I've never been one for chasing tail, never. For me, the women are a small part of the overall picture here.

I'd move to HK tomorrow if I could. The women are mostly cute, but a bit too small/short for me. If I lived there, I'd probably spend my time looking for UK/SA women in expat bars, haha.

Still, fast food is unquestionably taking its toll. More phones, more calls made, more commitments, more rushing around like a headless chicken and more fast food as a result. I had Subway and a McD's chicken burger on the weekend for the first in a long time. I could actually feel myself getting bigger. Not my thing!

It never ceases to amaze me that a plate of pierogi fills me up, but doesn't make me feel "bigger", yet a McDonald's doesn't fill me up, but makes me feel huge. :)

What is a MILF? Is it different from a Cougar?

MILF: Depends on who you ask. If you watch prn, you would think it means "a woman aged 23-29" (rolleyes).

But I would say "all the women I date are MILFs". So, any women over 30 who are still hot.

However, my last ex was a gran at 37. Don't even go there, it makes me feel ancient. LOL.

Cougar: if this was a man, we would be calling him a "dirty old man".

News / Europeén Union will finance the 2nd Warsaw metro line. Good news. [60]

In Warsaw, a cab ride to centrum will set you off 45 PLN, and a bus ticket ca 3.20 PLN.. Anyway, the minimum salary in Poland (1 386 PLN) buys you 31 taxi rides from the airport to the centre, versus 16 in London (1027 GBP and 65 GBP cab ride) or 25 in Paris (1365 € and 55 € cab ride)

However, the percentage of residents earning the minimum wage in London is probably significantly lower than the percentage of people on the minimum wage in Warsaw. In Hong Kong, public transport (especially the trams) seem ridiculously cheap (as little as 40p a ticket) until you realise that shopworkers can take home as little as £400 GBP/month for longer hours than we work over here, but with similar housing costs to London. I suspect that the situation in Warsaw is similar, especially if you look at the rents which are advertised on here. If I worked in Warsaw, I would only take home about 1500 PLN (so I'm told), whereas in London, I can easily take home £2500 a month. My job wouldn't be a living wage in Warsaw, whereas it's quite a good living over here (even in London) - so those much higher prices are actually more affordable for many over here, despite the fact that everyone tells you how "overpriced" public transport is. It's even worse outside the capital - in Northern cities, where public transport is worse, bus fares can cost twice as much as in London, with lower wages. The last time I was in Warsaw, the price of a ticket was about 2,80 PLN (about 70p at the time, iirc) but the price of a single bus fare on my Oyster card was only 90p!
