I can tell you the difference, thats easy:)

When a Pole buys a new sofa he`ll take the old one (if still good cond) and place it buy the curb in front of his house, so maybe somebody that needs one can help themselves to it.

Not if one of the 1000`s of Mexicans in their Illegal 1988 Ford P/U`s with the 10 ft. high plywood walls attached to it happens to find it first. Then thell chop and cut it all up to get at the springs, back support, anything metal so the can go take to the scrapyard.

Leaving behind on your front lawn a big heap of busted up wood and cushions:)

If we had the Arizona laws in place, the cops could stop them!

Moustache! :-D

I'm Polish but I could never understand why would anyone like to wear moustache?

Maybe I'm just to young to understand that :-)

for what? AZ "law" doesn't allow cops to just stop them out of the blue.. if there is a reason, then that same reason is also enforcable in IL already..

Hard working? Willing to do the crappy jobs others wouldn't? 5hitty neighbours?

Ok the last one was a little unwarranted. :=)

the cultures do not have that much in common, but if you look hard, and ever spent time with a mexican family, you'll see that the basics are the same - close family, good food, yearning for satisfying work that can support the family, education for kids, and then a little drink and a little dance squeezed inbetween.

Very true

close family

True

good food

What?? Good food? Let's see sausage and pierogis? Duck blood soup? And Mexican food, most of what we call Mexican is actually tex mex. I wouldn't call Mexican and Polish as cuisines worth pursuing. Well yes they have food in common...pedestrian.

education for kids

Big difference here. Polish Americans are highly educated. Mexicans? No way. High high school drop out rate. You're not confusing mexicans with cubans now, are you?

you would be amazed. They have mexican doctors, lawyers, engineers... I kid you not! I worked with a girl engineer from Mexico City. Very smart, warm and engaging people.

Great food, too.

which gives me an idea - for tonights' ladies get together, I'll make guacamole and mango salsa for tortilla chips. And we'll listen to Lila Downs and cry in our tequila!

I love fajitas, but cooking is out. It's ~37 deg, 70% humidity. We sit in the pool.

No doubt. I worked with a mexican civil engineer once also but the majority do not have a tradition of education, as below:

"The education gap explains most of the wage deficit of Mexican-Americans in the third generation. Research has shown that two-thirds of the wage discrepancy is accounted for by lower education levels among Mexicans.

dallasfed.org/research/swe/2004/swe0403a.html

and the food...cheesy sauces, flat breads, re-fried beans and rice (AKA as slop).

I don't need a link to tell me Mexico is poorer than USA.
"Tradition of education" - oh give me a break. Like a Mexican kid chooses to wash dishes instead of going to college.

Not to belabor the point but...yes.

But comparing Poles with mexicans in regards to education...no comparison. Poles and Polish Americans are highly intelligent and educated. Tough to meet one without a college degree of some level. Just read the posts on this forum.

what similarities? maybe - we are living on the same planet? cherry - what do you mean by

typical ones

?

To be honest i dont see any similarities among them besides these 2:
1-Both countries lay next to very powerfull wealthy communities (EU, USA) so for financial reasons both nationals emigrate.

2-They are both catholic countries :D

For the rest i cannot think of any other similarity...food is different, culture is different, language is different, race is different...etc, etc
