News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [853]

Look I'm not going to be playing expert here by analysing stuff and deciding what sources are reliable and what sources are not? Here is what I know, as someone with no skills in anything airline related. The way the Russians reacted and the unwillingness by them to allow the Polish side near the scene is suspicious. The report they gave that put the blame entirely on Poland [including blatant lies] is suspicious if not, to be expected. The fact that Michael Baden [American expert involved previously involved in high profile cases] is also very suspicious. The fact that PO want this to be forgotten and not mentioned again is suspicious. Finally I think the constant lies of how 'digging this up' over and over is having a negative emotional effect on the families is odd to say the least. It is the families who want this to keep on being investigated.

I personally have not once heard a person from PiS say it was deliberate murder, they simply say that it is starting to look more and more likely that it could be. I think the term 'conspiracy theory' is overused now and it is very easy to commit foul play these days, knowing that many people will react to any suggestions 'something dodgy' by rolling their eyes and muttering 'conspiracy theories,' thinking they are too intelligent to fall for these so called 'theories.'

News / Ustroń: Another giant religious statue in Poland [26]

I prefer religious statues that have some relevance to Poland's heritage and past, even if you are not part of the religious belief yourself, than a statue of some jumped up popstar.

I think it depends. Not keen on it that much. I do not mind an slight influence of Asiatic Indian but not keen on the white people that look Chinese [like Kazaks].

Actually Sobieski that is not what I heard.

First of all the Russians pretty much took over the investigation, with the Indonesians just assisting them.

Secondly the Indonesians did not refuse to give anything back. From what I gather the boxes were apparently located in the sea and very difficult to obtain, so the Russians have not yet managed to get them back. I do not see any reason as to why the Indonesians would not want to give them back, while I can think of quite a few why the Russians would not want to give Poland their boxes.

When it is a clear [or at least most likely] accident, there are no problems in retrieving evidence, so why was is so difficult for the Polish side to get theirs and why did it take so long?

Apparently the Russians have also ordered that every piece of the plane be taken back to Russia [again, normal in normal conditions].

Hey how about not having double standards and saying the same to Sobieski. I do not see him sourcing his information. Oh of course but what he says suits you more so you say nothing about it.

I use words like 'apparently' and 'from what I gather' as I am not arrogant and I do not falsely claim to state facts when I am not absolutely sure.

However, I couldnt locate any sources which prove your apparent claims

pawian my source is the Polish media although now that you mention it, who can trust them,or most media for that matter? So who can we trust, unless we actually go out and see something ourselves.

You mean PiS report, of course.

Oh you mean like the PO and Russian reports we already have so far? Yeah those are obviously unbiased. You can believe tt was a 30cm twig that did it, took the win right off and flipped the plane over.

For those who understand Polish and are not able to watch TVP info, watch the above link. In the programs he basically states that he wanted to discuss his findings with experts in Poland but there were no takers. Not only that but the presenter of the program 'Bliżej' tried to get in contact with many of the people involved in the investigation so they could retort what was said by Binienda in the program and debate his findings but he was rejected by pretty much everyone he called [as you can see at the beginning of the program]. Binienda might be supported by PiS guys like Macierewicz but he seems like a legit guy to me who simply finds there to be some serious lack of logic to some of the stuff that is written up as what 'officially' happened.

You have your opinions and I have mine. I think the 'wake' style is shocking personally. As for grief, It is not about a show. Seriously how can people have a laugh and a good time when someone close to them has died? It seems abnormal to me, almost inhumane. Not to say you should not move on with your life and people in Poland do but it takes time. Time is a natural healer, you do not spend the rest of your life grieving but you do not have to 'get on with your life' within a few days of someone's passing, do you?

Dude how is it possible you are Polish and hate your country so much? Unless you're lying and you are not Polish at all. You're a British Polak I assume. You can not seriously be attributing getting handouts and getting benefits of other countries as just a Polish trait. Try to find a country where you do not find lazy people who just want handouts. Generalising like you do is stupid. By the way could you tell me who helped Poland out of occupation in 1990 because I am sure it was not the great powers of Britain or the USA.

gdyniaguy if you want to see my response go to the 'deleted periodically thread.' It seems the mods on here do not understand simple instructions as 'do not delete this it is my last off topic posts. Honestly I am starting to understand why some people do not bother with this forum.

Yeah funny that. You see my comment related to an off topic post originally made and you took it off, yet other off topic posts are still here. Seems fair right? It seems you pick and choose the off topic posts to take off.

Look at all this off topic chat, none of it being taken off.

Double standards still here but forget it I am not bothered.

As far as the term Polak, I do not and will not consider it an offensive term and I do not care if you think it it. Polak is what you say to a Polish man in Polish. If Americans have decided that it is going to be an offensive term for someone who is from Poland, that is up to them. For me it is not. Anyway I call people Polak, that is the Polish spelling, not Polack that I believe is the offensive American one. It is stupid. It would be like me deciding that calling a person Dutch is a racial slur when in the past it was and is a normal term for a person from Holland.

By the way gdyniaguy I stand by the opinion that you do not know how to grieve. British grieving is have a party, celebrate the life of the one that has died and move on. The Polish way is grief, be sad that someone close to you has left, mourn [if you want] and then move on but return to the grave every so often to reflect and show some respect to the dead.

So really what you are saying is that Poland is an ass backward country because it is Catholic while the UK is way too sensible for this. Oh and since when does mourning mean that you have to wear black. Did I say that? Tell me why are exactly do you live in Poland since it is such a crap country stuck in some 'old traditions' according to you. You ever heard or respecting the traditions and customs of a place when you are there. If you do not like it, you know what you can do, go back to the great, intelligent, forward thinking UK.

By the way to the mod, once again checking to see if the double standards are still in place, I cannot use a so called 'slur' and yet this guy can make fun of Catholicism?

News / British senior politician compares Poland to South Africa during apartheid [129]

Seriously dude get off you high horse and stop interfering. We know that there is a problem in Poland but Poland is not as multicultural as Britain [thankfully] so it takes a while to deal with it and it is only a problem when lots of foreigners flood in to Poland in one go. I agree with Grzegorz there is racism in Britain, it is just quiet. Officially it is stamped out but it is no better than in Poland, only in Poland people have some balls and do not sit quietly and then talk about other races with their pals quietly when nobody is looking.

You want examples of racism in Italy?

How about Balotelli having some bananas chucked at him almost every away match? How about the Lazio neo-nazi fan base?

I know Eto'o was racially abused in Spain many times as well.

Life / Best Polish production TV show [12]

Most stuff on Polish TV is crap. It is usually musical talent shows and tv series from other countries made in to Polish one. You see the same faces all over in various TV series. I swear Malgorzata Korzuchowska plays in like 3 of 4 Polish soaps, a different character in every one of them.

Spadkobiercy as terri says is funny. One of the few decent shows. It is basically like a mock of a typical American soap opera [like Bold and the Beautiful] but there is no script. It is improvised. There is a general story but the characters have to make up the script as they go along. It is quite funny.

In response to me twisting truth in Balotelli getting attacked with bananas. He talked about being attacked in a bar in Italy in a recent interview but I am pretty sure he was racially abused in many Italian matches. That is one of the, if not the main reason, he left the Serie A. I do remember bananas being hurled at many players in the past.

I actually think that banana throwing and nasty racist chanting is a much more complicated problem to do with social inequality. The people who commit these, let us call them, 'racial crimes,' are often poor, much poorer and in far worse situations than the players or people in general, that they are aiming their abuse at. They resort to racism as one form of anger. If they were rich and had great lives, I doubt they would even bother with it, they would have other stuff to get on with.

In general though, I cannot stand the way so many people who are not Polish have so much to say on how Poland should act. There is a belief in the UK and probably the USA too, that these countries are the model that others need to aspire to. Why? Who says? I think racism itself is wrong and ignorant. Monkey noises and banana throwing is terrible, it makes the people doing it seem more like animals than those who they claim to be animals. What I think is not racism is wanting to prevent a country from overflowing with foreigners. I think you need be able to look after your own people first and foremost. I am not a fan of globalisation and general multicultural mixing. I think it does more harm than good. If you in Britain are proud that a British person has no race, creed or belief then great, but Poland is not like that and does not have to be, in order to be 'normal.'

Rybnik do check it out. I also find very little on to be funny on Polish television. Most of the Polish kabarety just do not make me laugh [with the exception of the off 1 or 2] but this show is funny, most of the time.

Balotelli was often racially abused in Italian league games. I should not have to prove. You obviously do not watch much football. If you saw Inter play when he was there you would see the abuse. You can probably find some clips on youtube. He does not talk about it much because he ignores it [or tries to]. He does not really want to give it any attention to talk about it in interviews so he generally stays clear of that type of discussion most of the time.

OK so when the last time there were any problems during national team level matches in Poland ?

I too do not remember the last time Polish fans racially abused anyone or created problems during a Poland match. In fact one of the main reasons they got to co host the Euro was because the fans were so great.

Exactly look on youtube. I am not going to bother providing you with links dear sir. You do not want to trust me that is up to you. If you want proof, you can find plenty on the internet. Trust me he was racially abused, not just once. A lot of Italian fans also do not want him in the Italy team.

I'm not the one desperate to find the footage so you can believe me and I can sleep at night. If you want to see, you go on youtube, or is it too difficult for you?

What is all this talk about trees by the way? Did you forget your medication today?

Back on topic [sort of]

When in Rome. Heard the saying? When people go to Poland then need to behave themselves. If I went to Saudi Arabia and got funny looks I would understand it. I would even wear what they tell me to wear. It is how they live over there and I accept that. In Poland you might get funny looks if you are foreign but if you shake up and try to fit in, you should be fine. You need to earn your place when you are 'new' somewhere. In Britain it is different since there are so many people of different races that they tend to form their own communities and it creates segregation, leading to tensions.

Like I said, medication, take it regularly.

Using your logic that if you make a statement and someone wants proof for it, you have to provide it, otherwise they can deny it, it means I might as well not bother saying the earth is round or you're going to ask for some photos to back it up.

Off-Topic / Voicemail - paying every time I want to listen to a message? [8]

Ok so it is not Poland and therefore a little off topic but I know how many of us Polish folk get pissed off with rip off deals, I was just wondering about voicemail. I am on 'pay as you go' with Orange and I have to pay every time I want to listen to my messages. That is a bit stupid no? I mean someone tries to call me and they leave me a message, then I have to pay to here it. It makes me tell people not to leave voicemail since I have to pay to listen to it. I have noticed when researching that other networks also require you to pay on 'pay as you go,' less than Orange but still, what is up with this?

Yes sir I forgot that I was being assessed on spelling in this thread starting, 1 hour examination.

As for what it has to do with Poland, sometimes I wonder if you read posts or just skim them. I said, at the beginning, you know, that would be the right up there in the opening sentence, if you would be as kind as to look, that this has nothing to do with Poland. Thank you for pointing out the obvious, twice.

Feedback / I love this forum - It's so Polish: tolerant, inconsistent, amusing [184]

Merged: PF is Addictive

I got to say I joined a while ago just to take part in some topics and occasionally read some stuff, but like with many forums I have joined, I expected my post count to decrease slowly until I eventually leave. It has not happened. Yes occasionally I am away for a while, but I always return to check what is going on. It is one of my regulars as far as daily websites to check go [you know what I mean I am sure you have yours]. Is anyone else surprised to still be here as long as they are or have any of you seriously considered leaving, or even left, only to return again?

Food / Your favourite Polish foods! [180]

Merged: What are your favourite and least favourite Polish and foreign foods?

What would you go for?

Favourite Polish food is probably most types of pierogi. Not strictly Polish food I think but often cooked in Poland. Most flavours are good. White cheese ones, yes!!!! Oh yeah and placki ziemniaczane. Oh man!!!!!!

Least favourite, not much Polish food that I dislike really. Probably flaki [a type of soup for those who are unfamiliar with it]. Even the look of it is horrible and having tried it once it was like eating a tub of grease with worms in it.

As for foreign food, well living in Britain there is a lot of it. Chinese and Italian is nice once in a while, but British food? Not a fan of it, it is very bland. I do like some of the puddings though, the crumbles with custard are nice, apple being my flavour of choice.
