News / Poland, still corrupt, but not as bad as Czech/Hungary & Italy [36]

Having lived in Botswana, I personally find it very hard to believe that it is ranked ahead of Poland. From personal experience, if you didn't bribe the guards on the border crossing to South Africa, you had to be prepared to wait for a very long time before crossing(:

do some work for a change it will do you good!

I found the quote, and what he says is perfectly reasonable, when not taken out of context by the likes of you.

Well, you can find it on PF!

No I can't, because as you perfectly know, no such quote exists because he never said anything of that sort, so I am not sure why you are trying to defend Kaczynski’s lies.

Polishness he always associated with abnormality

I presume that you have a quote for that? And preferably not taken out of context?

Palikot

Can you quote Palikot saying we must abandon our Polishness ?

independence

Really, the last time I checked Poland was already independent.

Some say we must abandon our Polishness

Really, who are these people! Name one Mr Kaczynski, you fat ugly small liar.

and independence which is being questioned in different ways

Who is doing the questioning? Last time I checked it was Kaczynski calling Poland a Russian and German condominium (he is so Fuc*ing stupid that he doesn’t know that you can’t be a condominium for both, it’s either one or the other).

social solidarity which is in bad shape

Hmmm I wonder why that would be, it wouldn't have anything to do with all those marches, accusing the government of murder and trying to divide Poles between good and bad?

The real tragedy of Smolensk, was that the other Kaczynski wasn't on that plane.

Oh reaally/ Can you back it up by some scientific research

Let me think about it. How about you ask Kaczynski to submit himself to testing, and then you will have your scientific answer. Unfortunately I am unable to provide you with a certificate at this point in time.

both creepily disturbing and very anti-social.

And that is what pretty much his laughing betrays

Define normal

Just as soon as you define abnormal, my definition is Kaczynski.

so it's all about the way he is laughing... ?

No, it's nothing to do with the laughing per se, it’s how he is laughing, the timing, and the length of his laughter. All of these raise a few questions.

I will post a more complete version a little later.

What's so shocking ?

You must be the only one who doesn't see anything unusual about his asinine laugh. Sorry but that is not a normal laugh, that is a - the man has some serious issue laugh. BTW: that was a far more shortened version of the real clip

Kaczyński's no fool

No that's quite correct, calling him a fool would do a disservice to all the fools out there, I am quite sure he is a complete cretin. Can't drive, didn't have a bank account until recently. And when martial law was in place he stayed with his mother in her apartment.

Just in case you forgot, here is a little remainder:

who needs freinds when you have Kaczynski?

Scouts = sex abuse

Not only does this demonstrate your irrationality, but it also confirms your stupidity.
1st. Out of all those countries listed Poland isn't even on the list.
2nd By far the most common cases of sexual abuse are perpetrated by a family member and not an outsider.
3rd So if you had any kids, statistically they would have more chance of being abused by you or one of your family members and not any outside organization.

I find your whole attitude rather pathetic really, you clearly have some issues.

They are the lamest videos I've ever watched

For somebody with an intellect of a child that is hardly surprising, all the scouts in the 1st video lost their lives fighting Nazism and communism, obviously you find their sacrifices trivial.

Great organization! They recently celebrated their 100th anniversary in Krakow.

Yea right, scouts are usually run by creepy guys who live at home with their cats and mothers even though they are in their 40s or 50.

You have got a very perverse view of what the orgnisation is about, I doubt if you ever were anywhere near any scout movements. I wonder from where this irrationality comes from?

Jaro would prob be a scout master

No he wouldn't. President Komorowski on the other had is the honorary patron of Harcerze, and was a member of the organisation - that is how he met his wife. In the Warsaw Uprising the scouts fought on the frontline, their whole philosophy is based around service to others, a concept you clearly seem to struggle with. At its height the membership of the organisation ran into the hundreds of thoudands.

It really is that simple.

If it only was that simple! Sarting a conversation is quite easy granteed, creating a lasting relationship in a room full of strangers, on an off chance is not.

Isnt that for much younger kids?

Not really. They take all ages, older people act as instructors. As you advance in age you move up for lack of a better word, in rank.

Isnt that for weapon fanatics? Most of them far right wing(i could be wrong here).Id try student clubs and pubs:

Officially they are not politically affiliated to anybody. I think that weapons handling is an important component of some of the exercises that they do, but I believe that they have a greater focus on physical activity. One of the elements of their philosophy is service to others.

And i live and work in Krakow

what is that you do for a living?

And i live and work in Krakow

Try some interest groups, like Harcerze: harcerze.zhr.pl
or the Strzelcy: zs-strzelec.mil.pl/kg
Both are quite popular with young people your age and quite interactive.
And further to the previous question, who do you work for?

seems to be very reserved.

That's why you have to make the first move(:

His place is in jail indeed. Performance peg him right. The next time he will be Speaker for the dead.

My view is far more representative of Polish opinion that yours, and you know that:D

So, now you are Speaker for the silent majority? You are a truly an example of a twit! :D

Din't you enjoy the collective grin of PIS MP's dieaspear from their faces and instead reaplced by some hard swallowing, it must have been very upsecting for them to find out that they must be held to account for what they say? They will find out that naked opportunism and lying comes at a price.

Or maybe you think that former PIS sip doctor Kaminiski is wrong when he says that hardly anyone in PIS beleives in the Smolensk Murder, they just parrot what their leader says because they are afraid of losing their jobs? Just admit that that great Pole, Brzezinsky is right, and so is that other great Pole Bartoszewski, when they say that Kaczynski is mentally ill. I've always wandered how could soembdoy like Hitler raise to power, and forge his career on the Versailles Treaty, and now I have a demostration with Kaczynski and Smolensk - a mental case surrounded by cowards, that's how WWII started

And back to my orginal observation about PIS and Targowica, I am glad that somebody as eminent as Mr Brzezinsky shares my views about PIS being the useful idots of Moscow.

What the silent majority of Poles think in despair, but do not aticulate, quite well captured in Palikot's parliamentary performance:

Genealogy / Further Records proving Polish History (great-grandfather born in Poland) [3]

I am needing to find some records for my Great- Grandmother who was born and lived in Poland (i have the birth certificate copy) before traveling to a Polish Refugee Settlement in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in what i think was 1943.

I once met a Polish lady named Ala short for Alicja i think in South Africa, she initially started life in Rhodesia after escaping the war. She ended up running a game park with her husband.

Genealogy / Is it Likely One of My Polish Ancestors Did Some Funny Business With a Bulgarian? [16]

Not sure what you're talking about lol.

Polka you're not a terribly bright are you? He is trying to tell you that it is quite likely that your ancestors had probably absolutely nothing to do with Bulgaria, because nationality does not go hand in hand with ethnicity.

Back in the late 1700s to early 1800s, could Polish people afford to travel to Bulgaria?

Not very likely, if you are the descendant of peasants they would be lucky to travel to the next village, let alone Bulgaria. They could have had it off with one of the Czar's soldiers, which is a entirely different matter altogether.

History / A state funeral for the last of the Polish Habsburgs [5]

I see, thanks for the clarification, I only looked at the year and not the month, The only bio that i found does not go into detail about how he died.

I found a bit of extra information about him, he died from TB some 5 months before the war:
BRK: Jak wojskowa przeszłość ojca wpłynęła na wasze życie?
Leon Habsburg: - Ojciec nasz umarł w 1939 roku, prawie 5 miesięcy przed wybuchem wojny jako rezerwista. Będąc oficerem 11. pułku ułanów, brał udział w wojnie ukraińskiej w 1919 roku i bolszewickiej w 1920 r. Był ciężko ranny.Otrzymał Srebrny Krzyż Zasługi i stopień rotmistrza w 17. pułku ułanów. Był też w Centrum Wyszkolenia Kawalerii w Grudziądzu. Potem był w Garnizonie Leszno, gdzie urodziły się dwie moje siostry.

History / A state funeral for the last of the Polish Habsburgs [5]

A bit of extra info about other Polish Habsburgs:
Leon Karol Maria Habsburg-Lotaryński ( ur. 5 lipca 1893 roku w Pula; zm. 28 kwietnia 1939 w Bestwinie ). Must have been a war casualty.

I believe that it is: " A state funeral is a public funeral ceremony, observing the strict rules of protocol, held to honor heads of state or other important people of national significance."

History / A state funeral for the last of the Polish Habsburgs [5]

A few days ago the last of the Polish line of the Habsburg family was laid to rest in the Family vault in Zywiec. Never heard of them, so it was a surprisingly interesting little bit of history, i find it somewhat ironi that a family whose occupation of Spis initiated Poland's partition, turned out to be such fervent Polish patriots. Maria Krystyna Habsburg:

Study / Times Higher Education rankings 2012 Poland's top universities at end! [93]

I think these rankings are crap. And you know they are crap because one of their measures of success is the number of foreigners studying in a particular uni, what does that prove? And this obviously favors the Anglo-centric universities, because foreign students are more likely to go to English speaking universities.

How many political parties are there in Poland? When are the Senatorial elections held?Does Poland have representatives and congressman or the equivalent?

Only 4 that count- PO, PIS, RP, PSL, and SLD. - Since they are the ones that are in the Sejm (the lower House). The elections for the Senat are held at the same time as the Sejm - every 4 years, the next election is in 2014. Poland has Members of Parliament - Poslowie in the Sejm and Senatorowie in the Senat. Here is a bit of a description:

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

The next leader of PO is an interesting question - Sikorski is popular, but don't forget that he lost the Presidential Primary to Komorowski by quite a margin and was widely seen to have lost the debate that they had. I could easily see a female leader - Kopacz, for instance.

She is undoubtedly popular however, I don't think she has the numbers or the standing in the party for that. I could very well imagine her standing in any future contest however, i just don't think she could win-i don't think the vision thing is her strength, although she is a very good pragmatist. In any future contest i think that Schetyna, Sikorski, possibly Kopacz, and possibly Waltz, maybe Nowak, perhaps Gowin, will stand for the leadership.

Schetyna has got the numbers-but he will appeal only to party, Sikorski has got the charisma and standing with the public at large-but not the numbers within the party, though that can change in any leadership contest. (he is the 2nd most trusted politician in Poland). I think that he has learned from the presidential contest, and he is a better politician for having gone through the contest.

When Margaret Thatcher was ousted from her job, i think that there were 3 contenders. Hesletine, Hurd, and Major.

Barosso's job is up fro grabs in 2014, and i think that Tusk would take if it was offered to him. The problem with him continuing for another term after 2015, is that by then he would have become very wearisome to the average joe, meaning that he wouldn't be able to win the presidency in 2019.

Isn`t it the year when Tusk is planning to become a chairman of an important EU body, I forgot which?

Yes it is, Barosso's job is up for grabs in 2014. I think that if PO does well in the Euro election at the time, he will stand every chance of getting the job.
