High end goods are indeed more expensive, solve the problem by renting/buying a furnished property, bring your existing PC and buy an adaptor.

I have lived in London and I bring home much less now that I did them, relativley though I live a much much much better life, unbelievably so. I am actually saving money for the first time since University.

I love the place oh and have you heard about the women?!?!?!

Seanus if you are being sarcastic and implying that is what I do you are very wrong. For a 26-year-old fella I live fantastically.
And electronics are a once a year purchase i dont know why everybody cries about them so much.

Study / Want to do a PL course in Krakow this month. Where recommended? [5]

Has anyone attended such a course in Krakow?
Are they any good?
Prices vary hugely it seems. From as low as zl650 for a 44 week semester course.
Anyway any help would be much appreciated as I have been here five months and the self study, impatient girlfriend route doesnt work.

amazing sweeping statement. Have you had sex with every scottish and every Polish girl. I agree though my one experience with a Scottish girl was not memorable in the least, they are also, somehow, even uglier than the Irish (sweeping statement).

None - they'll be treated as a Polish child would be treated, except possibly without the threat of being sent to a special school (like what happens to Roma children).

thats a shame. I know several public schools in the Belfast employed a Polish national to teach Polish kids and help the little ones through the transition.

As Poland is a take, take, take society though I am not surprised they don't do ANYTHING to help tax payers children assimilate.

And in all fairness - many people (myself included) wouldn't be too happy about precious resources being used to help children who have parents that can pay, anyway.

You have just highlighted my point. I know two schools in my city that ran a class with a Polish national as the teacher so as to smooth the transition for the Polish children. This was paid for by the tax payer (including the parents of the children). This left the Poles free to use their own money differently and make life a little easier.

These schools didnt HAVE to do this but they did because they are run by nice people in nice areas.
The idea of a Polish school stretching themseleves to do something like this is unfathomable and, sadly, it says a lot about this society and their take, take, take attitude towards its European neighbours.

Travel / Long weekend in Wroclaw - tourist sights to see (waterpark?) + Polish food + soccer game [8]

Hi Guys,

I am spending the long weekend in Wroclaw. But I need to know a few things.

a) What tourits sights are musts?
b) Is the waterpark any good (for small and bigger kids)?
c) Where can I get decent Polish food that wont break the bank?
d) is anywhere likely to be showing the Ireland v Estonia game tomorrow night?

also, a good breakfast buffet?

sorry to mention again but it seems from revies online that the Guiness pub is a bit dodge, if you know what I mean.
is there anywhere else anyone can think of that will be showing the Ireland vs Estonia game?

I have found a place called the Celtic Pub and the Belfast pub?
I supposing being an irish bar abraod that both places will probably show the England game?

I havent noticed the problem at all in the 50 or so Polish homes I have been in. On the other hand my partner likes to keep old magazines. Dont think this is Polish specific.

Food / British food products in Poland? [334]

as long as i can get decent tea bags in poland( which i know i can) i will be happy. dont really think would miss too much else..

I thought I would be the same but I realised pretty soon that coming from Ireland I was spoilt for choice with regards to good food.

Another thing I find strange is when Polish people talk about how bad British or Irish food is when their own fare is limited and at best, OK.

The things I miss the most are cheddar cheese (you can get Kerrygold Cheddar in Alma but its 12zl for 200g), fantastic Irish breads, sausages, baked beans, proper bacon, lucozade.

also I feel sorry for Poles that they arent able to get a good Indian, Chinese meal or indeed even a well produced fish and chips.

UK, Ireland / Missing Poles in London, Sylwester Goralski or Goranski / Rynczak [5]

Hi guys tonight on Facebook a friend and I were talking about a Polish guy we knew who lived in Wimbledon London from November 2007 to maybe March 2008. Previously he was living in Tottenham.

We knew him through some other Polish people that we knew and at the time he was down on his luck and living in a bit of a squat that was filled with South Africans and a lot disaffected people. The house is pretty notorious in the Hayden's Park Road area.

Anyway the guy upped and left one night and was never seen again but we do know that the police were at the house looking for him on more than one occasion in the past. I have no idea, nor do I care, what for.

I was just wondering if anybody had any ideas about how I could have a search for this guy. Basically I don't want to find him I just want to make sure he isn't missing.

His name was Sylwester Goralski or Goranski. He was quite tall over six foot with blond straight hair. At the time he was quite/very disheveled and looked quite ill. In all honesty the guy looked, and sadly i believe, may have been mentally unwell. I'm not sure at all what part of Poland he was from but my pal thinks Katowice which he described in less than favorable terms.

Any help would be much appreciated.
