Life / Do you think women have the place they deserve in modern Polish society ? [31]

. What do you think?

I don't really see that much would have changed in the last 12 years...to be honest.
Also your point about women retiring earlier and living longer might seem to favour women, but in fact being forced out of employment at a younger age, thereby being pushed onto a pension which is smaller anyway having made fewer tax contrubutions, simply impoverishes women further.

Language / Polish case structure secrets: knowing which words go in which position? [9]

she put a bouquet of cut roses on the table

yes but Chaza when would you really NEED to say this in everyday communication? I suggest never!
Surely it would be better to learn by listening out for phrases that people say again and again in normal situations, and try to repeat and remember them?

throw the bloody books away

good idea!

Love / Is rape so common in Poland? [95]

isn't this a bit off topic? ha ha ha....in Wales, it is said they prefer sheep, that is why the farmers wear big rubber boots, they put the back legs down the boots to stop the sheep from running away..:))

Travel / How safe is Krakow for a single girl ? [35]

If you are white then any Polish city is safer than let's say... London

what is this nonsense?
I feel wayyyyy safer in Brixton, London, than I have done on one or two memorable occasions in small town (and city) Poland...(no offence meant to anyone except to obsessed Jarnowa) and BTW yes I am white..:)

Study / University degrees and schools in Poland. Not interested in the proof of my degree? [10]

ne even got asked to see their degree, had a CRB and so on.

I have had to show my degree many times, in private language schools in England. CRB is only necessary if you are asked to work with people under 16 (or vulnerable adults)(I think), and so I was asked for it only once, when engaged to work for an agency teaching ESOL in FE colleges. Private language schools have never asked for a CRB, as they are usually for 16 plus. I think if you were engaged on a summer school for teenagers, you are more and more likely to be asked for this. Although the reality is you are asked to sign a piece of paper saying you have no objections to being checked. (Have signed this few times) THen the schools don't check anyway as the process is very expensive. Quite honestly the whole thing is a farce.

As for teaching in Poland, when I was there, there were one or two right pervy types in town, lets just say I definitely wouldn't want them teaching my daughter..(or son) At that time people were teaching English without a degree or qualifications at all, let alone any police check. I daresay the situation has changed, and rightly so.

UK, Ireland / Poles top the UK's EU crime figures [78]

Crap argument,

no it is not a crap argument. Many British Immigrants to Spain show disregard and contempt for the locals. Additionally they put pressure on local services such as education (loads of British kids in Spanish schools)and healthcare. Yes alot of them are old (extra pressure on healthcare) , and many of them make no attempt to learn the language.

Many of them are of working age, in a country with 20 per cent unemployment. And many of them do display a kind of neo colonial attitude.

And that is only ONE country. It is hardly a "crap" argument to be summarily dismissed.
Anyway my point to Graham Barber is that if he doesn't like things, he can make changes, instead of sitting at his PC foaming at the mouth. (yes I am dieseldyke..:)

Yes there are POlish criminals of course. They are hardly representative of the majority of hard working people.

UK, Ireland / Are you Poles proud of your country? Then why do you keep coming to Britain? [100]

I believe the men/women who marry/have children with polish are as bad as the poles who come here.

You troll, don't insult me, you know nothing about anything. People are people. I would not like to meet your type in the pub or anywhere else.

You obviously have drug or alchohol or other psychological issues.
Maybe this great song will help you. Maybe we should spend more time sharing videos and less time being spiteful.

Language / Duzy in place names [3]

In UK there are many tiny villages or small towns called "Great... this or that" or "Greater"...e.g. Great Missenden or Great Barcombe (one pub and one shop!)

The reasons for this are lost in the mists of time....maybe once there were two villages there, one small and one bigger. SO many villages have now been destroyed through clearances, enclosures, motorway building or urbanizations...I suppose this is the same across Europe inc. Poland.

I would just translate it as Great....
Maybe once these places were comparatively "Great" and now not. I mean look at "Great Britain"!!

News / Poland ready to receive Libyan refugees [159]

Advocating democracy doesn't mean the US has to occupy and (consequently bomb) every country under oppressive regimes.

only the ones with plenty of oil..:)

Love / Do Polish Women age well? [153]

Women, if you are in your fifties, please don't wear a mini-skirt. Same if you're fat.

MEN!!
If you are over 50, please don't wear tiny trunks on the beach with your huge belly hanging over the top.

Don't overdo it with the grecian 2000 or the comb over, we know you are grey and bald.

Don't use stinky after shave , it's a real turn off.

If you have been brainwashed by machismo and are still single over the age of 40 you are probably a raging alcoholic, and smell like a brewery. In this case splash on the aftershave, but you will still stink.

Don't wear shirts undone halfway down so we can see your grey haired wrinkly chests.

Dont blame women for everything when you're young, middle aged or ancient like Zimmy xxx
