I don't know, but I think so, or maybe the sugar factories become German-owned. And there is still Polish one. Remembering huge debates and strikes etc. over Polish sugar factories being sold for a fraction of their worth I wanted to buy Polish sugar. It's more sweet;)

A lot!! Do you even read labels carefully? About half of chemicals available (paints, cleaning products with 'famous' detergents), sweets, coffee (Kraft Jacobs Suchard, Tchibo etc.). Tchibo, Lidl and Aldi are shops with vast majority of German products - I could start ennumerating but it would take a lot of space.

NB: I was once looking for Polish sugar in Krakow and it seems an impossible feat. Everywhere there are German products of Sudzucker and Pfeifer & Langen companies, whereas I made my point to find Polish sugar from a Polish sugar company. After looking hard in every shop I've bee to, the only place I knew that had it was Bomi at Solvay Park, which is far but I drove there anyway. Sadly, they changed their supplier and now they also have only German one. So, helpless in my 'sugar crusade' I stopped using sugar for a while, until I visited Lidl. You can imagine my surprise when I saw there Polish sugar! Someone must've divided by zero.

I agree totally - this is insane. When I see a mother urinating her child in public I always thought it is at least strange, but I never said anything because I was uncertain. Dog owners - they are completely different kind: when I see a dog taking a c*ap on a pavement or grass area I point it out to its owner "Are you going to clean it up?". If they say no, I often say that I will call the Straz Miejska and see if s/he changes mind.

That works, but you have to take some time for the Straz to come. I found no other way, and dog sh*t on the pavement is really not the best view.

I have a general rule not to save on coffee.
It works:). The quality in this case almost always goes together with the price, but it doesn't have to be very high to get decent one.

BTW I am waiting for my first order of kopi luwak;). Not sure if I'll like it, especially considering the "unique" process it's made:)

of course it does, but the right kind - they offer about a dozen variations, some for cafetera brewers, french press, some for drip machine. I use Lavazza, but why limit yourself to thisonly? There's a very good Illy, Vergnano, Zino Davidoff is good.

Also, for more tastes I recommend this shop where I found an expert in coffee and lots of different coffees which can be ground according to what you'll be using them in.

I'm surprised you managed to get such - it is against the law act concerning Polish IDs and Population Register Act. And this ID without address would not be fully functional.

It is one link, of course! But it is the first also. Bear with me: after that (or even in the meantime, doesn't matter here) you go with your foreign passport to register your address. You can only do it for a period up to 3 months which gives you almost nothing. You do it anyway, and soon comes the decision that you are Polish. So you can prolong your registration of addres for period longer than 3 months (non-Polish citizens would have to show their residence card or registration of stay, but you've been just confirmed Polish, so you don't need it, right?). You register address and then the PESEL is being generated automatically because you shift the application duty to your local gmina and you don't care, just wait about 3-4 weeks and call them about your PESEL. Now, you have PESEL, registered address and you can apply for the rest of documents, especially dowod osobisty, in the meantime you can apply for passport if you show or even say that you don't have the other because you are in the progress of getting it... It works, I have done it.

Not really. I did such a thing. No PESEL, no documents, born in the US, with US passport, but Polish mother. And after this procedure it was clear that Polish nationality applies. It wouldn't make much sense if you couldne confirm your Polish citizenship if you don't have the document and numbers that you mentioned. In most cases people don't have them when they do it, that's why they do it...

What you should do in these circumstaces is verify your citizenship. It is a fairly simple procedure done at your Urząd Wojewódzki. Costs 58 PLN and you wait about up to a month and it seems in your case you would be considered as Polish national according to the law. Then you can apply for a new passport and any other document.

Sure, In Krakow they seem scarce compared to Poznan, but I found two. There are jadlodajnie but it's a bit different (smaller menu, better interior, higher prices). Soup costs 1.74 - 2.54 PLN, There's wide choice of everything and my local milk bar - Bar Targowy is open till 7 p.m. I order a few courses, loads of food and pay about 12-15 PLN (e.g. for soup with "wkladka", salad, fruit coctail or sth else to drink, fish filet, fried cheese and potatos or chips). I can barely walk after that:)

you can buy it without prescription but separately in two tablets, and rather 15mg codeine/tab.
In these circumstances it would be better not to combine them yourself but get a prescription. I know one doctor who can handle English but unfortunately the reception where you book a visit - doesn't.

My advice is: contact CM LIM or Luxmed where they speak English for sure.

Best food and very attractive prices are in all the milk bars. These places are unique to Poland and offer rather traditional Polish food but always a very wide menu so ther's a chance to choose something and try some real Polish cusine. The only disadvantage is that the interiors and quality of those diners/bars is rather poor, but you can meet everyone there, form students, through blue and white collar, to drunks and dregs of society. Kinda interesting.
