News / Is Poland headed for a civil war? [30]

And think what will happen when Poland gets the Euro... I dont know it seems with political affiliation being seperated almost half and half with PO on the west and PiS on the east a civil war would not be so surprising.

News / Is Poland headed for a civil war? [30]

With all the political issues between the two main parties, the plane crash being blamed on the government, and the recent assasination on Rosiak by the man who wanted to kill Jaroslaw Kaczynski. Is it possible this will turn into a civil war?

History / Star shaped symbol on Polish Eagle? [22]

Okay what are these symbols that look like stars on the wings of the Eagle? I asked my friend if he knows what the stars mean, and he looked at me like I'm cazy and said there are no stars, then i showed them to him and he said they're just feathers. So I asked another friend and once again i got the same look. I showed her and she said it's the eagle's fist?? I always thought they were stars, but these people live in Poland and insist they are not stars. So what the heck are they?

Life / Why so many soldiers walking on Polish streets? [17]

I'm not sure about them being military police because they are not walking with police like you said. Just usually two soldiers. But another question, why would police need military help?

Life / Why so many soldiers walking on Polish streets? [17]

I have been in Poland for a while, and while I've been here I have seen many soldiers walking the streets usually in pairs with guns. It's not everyday but it was more than once on a wide range of times and places. Is there some war coming that I don't know about?? I've only watched the news a couple times but I think I would hear about a suspected invasion or something. Whats going on??

USA, Canada / Life in Poland as a Polish heritage American [3]

I am an american teen of Polish roots so obviously my last name is Polish. I am going to be an exchange student in Polabd for a year to live the life as a Pole and understand the culture. I know little now and know only basic Polish. What can I expect. Will I ever be seen as "one of us" by the classmates or will I always be looked at as the amercan exchange student. I know thats what I am but since our blood is the same the only difference is nationality language and culture and I will be living there, speaking Polish, and living the culture. And thats the whole reason I'm going since a lot of the people on this forum hate americans who call themselves polish but no nothin about poland.

Life / Languages understandable by Poles? [38]

So Russians and Poles can pretty much understand eachother when both speaking their own language. What about Lithuanians, Czechs, Ukrainians? Are their languages understandable to Poles and eachother?

Life / Tattoos and Popular culture in Poland [51]

Actually...no?? I wasnt thinking that?? You see what I did was ask what we normal people call a "question" where other, normal people, would then answer my "question" by giving me facts that would then help me gain knowledge on the subject that I was confused about, which is why i asked this so called "question" in the first place. See, pretty simple huh? No hidden messages or codes to figure out. :)
