Genealogy / Kocielko surname - I would appreciate any info [44]

I have several, but I only added two to his memorial. I have no pictures of your grandfather, my great-grandfather Wasyl/Basil. I was told he looked a lot like Joseph Stalin, though. Do you happen to know Tillie's last name(s)? I know she was married two times had had her son Nestor with the first husband - online info and my uncle confirmed this. I'm not exactly sure of the last names, though. Also, do you know if your grandfather Wasyl/Basil had any other siblings besides her? I believe there was another sister named Malanka Wolownyk. Your grandmother Helen had a sister named Marianna/Mary Solomon (she died in the family's home at the end of Luther Ave in 1944, I believe). Frank Pilip was their younger brother. Another brother was killed by the Germans in WWII. I don't know his name. His daughter was named Leona Stoklosa. To my understanding she stayed in Poland.

Genealogy / The typical Polish look, or all Eastern Europeans [656]

I'm wondering if I have Tatar ancestry down the road. I put two of my pictures on a website which shows which celebrities you resemble. On both pics I got almost all Asian celebrities.

Genealogy / Polish looks? [1462]

This is my late grandfather. His family moved around Eastern Europe, so his true origins are a bit of a mystery. His last name is Ukrainian (Lemko) from SE Poland, but the family claims they worked in Ivan the Terrible's secret army and moved away from Russia. What does my grandfather look to you? The woman is his mother. I don't have any pics of his father, but relatives claim he could pass off as Stalin's twin.

Genealogy / Surnames Gall / Figura / Odrowaz [34]

I wrote to a relative who has info on my Zmuda branch of the family. She doesn't want information from the Zmudas to appear in online inquiries, so it would be done over the email.

This is me. I'm quite mixed, but I'm mostly Polish. Can any of you guess my nationalities? 'What' do I look like to you?

According to family I have some Georgian in me. That one is correct. Try to keep an open mind about other parts of Europe, too. ;) I've got some Ukrainian/Russian, too.

Here I am again. When I ran the under a face-recognition site to compare you to celebrities, it listed all Asian ones. Do these pics change your opinions of the nationalities you guessed from the others?

I haven't been told I look a certain nationality. People have commented on my eyes - I guess they look unusual.

Genealogy / Kocielko surname - I would appreciate any info [44]

Hi,

I'm Wasyl's great-grandson and would like to see that pic of him if possible. Are you able to upload it to the computer if possible? His memorial on findagrave.com lacks a pic of him, and my late grandmother (Wasyl's daughter-in-law) misplaced most of her pics of the Kocielko family when she moved. Thanks for posting!

Genealogy / Kocielko surname - I would appreciate any info [44]

Hi there,

My email is Koach137@mail2poland.com

I sure appreciate this.

I was wondering if you were still around to answer some other questions if that's possible:

1. Do you have any info regarding the siblings of Wasyl and Helen (our great-grandparents) or further info of relatives in Poland? I know of Wasyl's sister Tekla "Tillie" on Rice St. in Chicago who had a son named Nestor. I'm not sure of their last names. One of my uncles said that Tillie was married twice, and Nestor was from her first husband who died. I know that Helen had an older sister named Marianna "Mary" Solomon and a younger brother named Frank Pilip. I've gotten quite a bit of info for them. I wasn't able to find an obituary for Mary's son John (died February 2002 in Reno, NV). I know very little about his family. I think I have a picture of one of his wives. I've been told by different people that he was married twice. On the picture is written, "To Aunt Helen, Love Marian Solomon." This 'Aunt Helen' is our great-grandmother.

2. Do you have middle names, birth dates, birth locations, death dates, and death locations for the descendants of your grandmother Anna Lewicki? I don't expect you to put it on here to the public. It could be done over PM or email.

3. Is her first husband Raymond Hancasky, Sr. still alive? I can't find a date of death for him anywhere.

If any of this is too difficult to answer, I understand completely. Have a great day!

I was looking and noticed a poster had a bit of info about Theodore's family. If he or anyone else is available, I'd like to know the date of death for his wife Martha.

Genealogy / Kocielko surname - I would appreciate any info [44]

Hi,

This is Dominic's grandson. I found one picture of Wasyl, but I'm interested in the ones you have. The picture of Wasyl on findagrave.com was taken outside Dominic's in-laws' house in Calumet City, IL.

Genealogy / Kocielko surname - I would appreciate any info [44]

Hi again. Reviving this very-old thread. Time sure has passed, hasn't it? I was recently informed that family records for the family may exist in the Archiwum Państwowe w Przemyślu. They apparently have records going back to 1845. Does anyone here have access to that database? A search would be greatly appreciated if possible.

Genealogy / Blach/Zmuda in Dabie and Roza, Tarnow, Poland [2]

My great-grandmother Veronika Blach was born December 15, 1889 in Dabie, Tarnow, Poland. She married John Czernek/Czerniak on May 25, 1913 in Chicago. Veronika's parents were Antoni Blach and Katarzyna Zmuda, whose family originated from nearby Roza. They had several other children, including Theresa, who married Leopold Poremba on June 30, 1903 in Chicago. They came over to the Chicagoland area also. I know there were other children, but I do not know anything about them. My grandmother's godfather was Petrus Blach. Not sure how he connects. Katarzyna's parents were Marcin Zmuda and Agata Bielawa. They had many children. Their son Adam Zmuda moved over to Chicago and married Anna Bernas. The Czerniaks, Porembas and Adam Zmudas all moved to Calumet City, known then as West Hammond. Another son Frank went by the spelling Smuda. He married twice. First wife was an Erasmus. He later married Veronica ? on August 8, 1899 in Chicago. He had children with both wives. I do not know anything of the other children but know there were several others. Would love to connect with other relatives and learn more about my family. Any help from fellow genealogists would also be appreciated.

Genealogy / Stanley Klimek married Czernek/Czerniak/Skulsk [13]

Since last posting, I was able to find Mary and John's mother Marianna's maiden name, which appears to be Brukof or Brukop on the marriage record of John and his wife Veronika Blach. Their father was Jan Czernek. I have not been able to find anything else. Would love to connect with more family and obtain further assistance, please.

I will ask about their minimum. Is there a cheaper alternative than Wells Fargo?

Is this a good translation for my email?

Jakie są minimalne liczby, o które należy prosić o badania? Jakie opcje płatności są dostępne? Mieszkam w stanach zjednoczonych.

Genealogy / Stanley Klimek married Czernek/Czerniak/Skulsk [13]

Stanley's wife was Mary Czernek Klimek, sister of my great-Grandpa Jan Czernek (changed to John Czerniak). They were born in Leki, Borzecin, Poland. Their parents were Jan Czernek and Marianna Prokop. Their grandparents were Tomasz Czernek, Marianna Baran, Stanislaw Prokop and Magdalena Bernady. The church records for them are online in the Szczepanow parish site. Do you have other knowledge of the family, Tina?
