Life / How Long Before Poland Has Its 'Dumbest Generation'? [84]

What in the hell does tusk and komorowski have to do with this, seanus? seriously man. dangerous path?
Rich is right. all "developed" nations seem to be dumbing down. i believe a lot of this is due nurturing. when we were growing up we didn't have to wear helmets for everything and nothing happened. we had winners and losers and that didn't damage anybody. now everyone is way overprotective.

Love / Unmarried couples in Poland = pathology [310]

It should be much much harder to get into a marriage then it is. It should also be more costly. It would decrease divorce rate, for sure. Marriage shouldn't be for everybody.

Real Estate / Poland Mortgage Quote Lesson/advice [6]

If you can avoid variable rate, you ought to as your payments can easily become unaffortable if the base rate happens to skyrocket.

Life / Alcohol problems of Polish people [141]

by far poles drink more then americans. for that matter so do germans and french and italians. alcohol is much more the way of life in europe. besides europe not having prohibition, there are no dry areas (counties) or sunday laws in europe. rarely do get togethers start with a drink in usa like they do in most euuropean countriies. so, it's not even close marek.

USA, Canada / Polish Citizen, US legal resident, but no Polish Passport... [67]

It is a lot more complicated than you state. You need more than just a "form" to get your passport renewed, perhaps you should take a look at the requirements.

not really, i just had to show them my expired passport and fill out 2 forms and plunk down couple of hundred $. that was it. quick and pretty easy.

I went to dot gov and printed out forms to renew my passport last august.

US passport, i am guessing.. polish one, you have to go to the ambassy or consulate in person.

Didn't you get the Pesel when you applied for a Polish passport?

i sure didn't. still don't have it but i do have my passport. they gave me some other number but it is NOT pesel.

Law / DELL shifting ops from Ire to PL [30]

good news for PL i say:

Dell to slash Ireland work force, shift to Poland

DUBLIN, Ireland (AP) - U.S. computer maker Dell Inc. (DELL) announced Thursday it will slash its Irish work force and shift its European manufacturing operations to Poland in a move certain to undermine Ireland's recession-hit economy.

Dell is Ireland's second-largest employer, its biggest exporter and in recent years has contributed about 5 percent to the national gross domestic product. Economists warn that each Dell job underpins another four to five jobs in Ireland.

Travel / Polish Architecture [147]

It was the Capital but perhaps not the original but who knows were it was in the stone age ;) ha ha ha

nope, not the stone ages but that other place is where PL actually became. krakow was only the cap for a very short time, comparigley.

10/10

ah, who cares.. show off the real Capital and we'll talk. ;) :D

that's Floriańska Street... it's a part of the Royal Road which takes you from Brama Floriańska -> Floriańska Street -> Main Square -> Grodzka Street -> to the Wawel Hill...

to Vien? lol

Travel / Polish Architecture [147]

Krakow was the original capital of Poland

check that again Sean. :D

Notice on the last picture how the wall ins re-enforced and tappers in towards the top to give added support so they could build higher.

that is the way of mason structures.

i find the wooden structures the most unique of all. the other arch. all types are found all over the place outside of PL too.

ok, didn't get that you were writing in polish.

No, it is a normal word. I think that using the word 'asfalt' is worse.

may be a normal word but if you say it in a certain way...., seanus is right.

Life / COMBATING "POLACK" JOKES [460]

Everyone is in a hurry to scream 'racism' these days!

A man at the store asks the clerk:

'In what aisle could I find the Polish sausage?'

The clerk looks at him and says, 'Are you Polish?'

The guy (clearly offended) says, 'Well, yes I am.

But let me ask you something.

If I had asked for Italian sausage,
would you ask me if I was Italian?

Or if I had asked for German Bratwurst,
would you ask me if I was German?

Or if I asked for a kosher hot dog.
would you ask me if I was Jewish?

Or if I had asked for a Taco,
would you ask if I was Mexican?'

'If I asked for some Irish whiskey,
would you ask if I was Irish?'

The clerk says, 'Well, no, I probably wouldn't!'

With deep self-righteous indignation, the guy says,
'Well then, why did you ask me if I'm Polish
because I asked for Polish sausage?'

The clerk replied, 'Because you're in Home Depot.'
