Genealogy / ABOUT KUKULKA [42]

There is no way for me to find out exactly which town he from. It was hard enough trying to find info on my mom's birth parents and grandparents. I have never been able to locate her birth mom. Mom was told she died shortly after she was born in Massachusetts where the Kukulka's were living but the state of MA has no record of her death.

Are you saying you have no relation to any of the Kukulka's on the Family History Library website? It looks like there were many from Tarnov, Krakowskiego, Poland. Maybe if you contact that town they'll have records.

Life / The Polish Wedding - What is it Like in Poland? [338]

I'm going to a traditional polish wedding this coming May. I was wonder are the guest allow to wear a "simple" white dress to the wedding. It looks nothing like a wedding dress, but my friends in the states are saying I shouldn't wear it.

I agree with your friends. I think it's a worldwide tradition that only the bride should wear white. Even if nobody at the wedding believes in this, it's better to play it safe and let the bride be the one in white.

You look like you're from India. It's your eyes, your eyebrows, the shape of your face. Are your eyebrows naturally dark or did you dye them? Most Polish people have lighter eyebrows.

I been on Polish dating site looking to meet a nice man. well I have talked to a few over phone and they seemed nice. well on the weekends they never called or texed. then I found out they had girlfriends and want me to be the other woman.

That's weird. You would think men who are surfing the internet for women are all honest guys looking for serious relationships. ;)

I still want a Polish boyfriend I know there are good ones out there.

Why does the picture say Discount Clothing 151? Is this a picture of someone else in the dress? I think it would depend on what it looks like on you. It's a lovely dress but the colors are loud for a wedding. Maybe a solid color would be better. But I wouldn't worry about the issue of not wearing white. I think that no longer matters.

No relationship is guaranteed to last and not end in heartache. If you really want to marry someone, he doesn't sound ready and you should look for someone else. If you're just worried about the future, you should stop worrying and just enjoy what you have while it's yours. Even if he married you today, he could leave you tomorrow. Why worry about something that hasn't happened yet or that you can't control?

Genealogy / Knew I was Hungarian, but my DNA came back Polish? [23]

So late last year I had an autosomal DNA test done. Of the top 20 region matches, 15 of them were in Poland!? I asked about any Polish history in our family, and no one seems to know of any.

Bob, did they give you three matches: Native, Global, and World Populations? Did you get Polish in all matches? Were they your top matches?

I took the test some time ago and got matched with the exact city where my dad was born. So there's definitely accuracy involved.
