Arien you are living in a dream world. You know nothing about America. Why do you people tell we Americans how to live. This is our land.. Stay the hell out of our business.For your information, gun sales in the US are booming since the election. People are lined up to purchase them.. Hmm! I wonder why????

USA, Canada / Are there any Polish people in Florida? [306]

Malgosia.;
Sarasota is beautiful, but expensive. Go a little farther south, and look into North Port, Port Charlotte,and Punta Gorda... It is much cheaper, and still pretty

You are spinning things. There are violents crimes in the USA yes. Even when they dont have a gun they are usually in greater numbers, on drugs, have other weapons etc. In these cases I find it acceptable to use a gun to stop the assault.

HMMM!
I wonder who these thugs are that you are describing above.?

More than believable. So many tote pistols and handguns like toys there. One of America's biggest ever mistakes, giving the right to bear arms.

Yeah! We Americans have some bad ass laws. May our souls burn in hell.
Why is it that white people also have guns, but we do not use them to murder each other?

USA, Canada / Are there any Polish people in Florida? [306]

BOY! Are you misinformed. Cubans yes, in Miami. Dominicans yes , but no where as near as up north.
The rest of Florida is inhabited by retired northern workers. They worked hard. Saved their money, and now lead the good life. There are a lot of young people moving in..( RED NECKS) Bull schidt! I have been here for 35yrs and have not seen but a few. At least we can walk the streets after dark in safety.

History / WWII - Battle of Britain and Poles [104]

Firestorm;
Yes; I was there in 1944. In a small town called Bridport in Dorset. But I know nothing about this subject other than what I read.

But with this knowledge it wasn't used to find the German strength at Arnhem.. The same is true in the Battle of the Bulge..There was ample warning, but it was ignored..

But it mattered not. We were expendable.
Oh well, such are the fortunes of war.

History / WWII - Battle of Britain and Poles [104]

Firestorm;
I have no first hand knowledge what really happened. This is what I read on the WEB. I also read that Poland secured a V1 rocket that went astray and landed in a swamp. It was dismantled and shipped to England.

I can only go by what is on the net.

History / WWII - Battle of Britain and Poles [104]

The role of Poland in World War Two is often misunderstood and under appreciated. The myth that the Poles were easily and quickly knocked out of the war is just that - a myth. Poland had the fourth largest army combating the Germans, the most highly decorated navy, the largest, and most effective, resistance organization, and made numerous other great contributions.

It was Poland responsible for the cracking of the German code, and the subsequent smuggling of an Enigma machine to Britain. This enabled the Allies to decode and read German messages, one of the greatest intelligence coups of all time, and one of the most important contributions of the war. Were it not for Poland, the war, at best, would have lasted longer, and at worst, would have ended in a German victory.

You would be surprised at the number of Polish people in Florida.. But they are not consetrated in any one area as up north..We are all scattered.. Florida is a big state.

Every year there is a Octoberfest in Cape Coral..It is very well represented by Poles. It goes on for two week ends. People come in buses from all over south west Florida.. There are Polish bands as well as German..We all dance to the same music

Food / Pierogi recipe and filling from my grandmother [179]

TRUSCH!
Farmers cheese in nothing more than DRY curd cottage cheese. Both of these cheeses are made with out milk.
In the OLD days when your Busia was alive, we had polish dairies that made dry COTTAGE CHEESE.. But that is all history now. I tried using the dry curd cottage that they make today, but it is no where near the same.

Try this.. You can buy Farmers cheese at any super market. Get at least two packs.
Thaw out until it gets soft.
In a bowl add one egg, a little sugar, and a dash of lemon juice.
My Mom sprinkled a little dry peppermint.. Suit to taste
Mix until well blended. You will never know the difference.

There were some good recipes posted on here. Experiment with them. Practice makes perfect.. Try it with Damson Plums, (SLIWKI)
ADD SOUR CREAM TO YOUR DOUGH.. IT MAKES THE DOUGH SOFT
Fry chopped onions in butter until translucent. Add finely chopped sweet cabbage, and cook on a slow heat until well done. At least one hour. Be carefull not to burn.

Allow to cool until the butter gets settled. Then Fill.
GOOD LUCK

UK, Ireland / A collection of noimmigration's threads or "STAY AWAY from BRITAIN" [978]

HEY you guy's. Get used to it. Now you know what we have to put up with in the states.

We are being invaded by third world citizens. They are coming in leaking boats, rafts, inner tubes and crossing borders. So who has to take care of them? Right! We the tax payer. They have no health insurance but get the same care that we do and we pay for that in taxes.

They go on the Dole. Again we the tax payer support that.
I can go on and on. But why. Nothing ever changes.
Hang in there Ya'll it just gets better

Food / Bread Baking in Poland [65]

When I was growing up. My best friend was a Jewish boy. and his Dad was a baker.. Many a night that I spent helping them make bread and bagels.

For sour dough he used old rye bread soaked in water then squeezed dry. It was then added to the other ingredients and made beautiful rye bread. With caraway seeds.

I make it all the time. But just like the old guy. He never measured anything. He just looked at it and could tell when everything was right.
