Love / Prevention of child abduction by Polish mother. [232]

Pretty simple really. Go to the registry office and tell them the fathers unknown.

There is more to this story, hopefully the most important thing that will come out of it is the parents getting along
for the babys sake, visitations are calm and that this baby gets all the love they need to grow up happy and healthy.

now if you will excuse me , this mamma hates dramma. :) off to another thread. lol

Love / Prevention of child abduction by Polish mother. [232]

I am not acting in a malicious manner or with anger towards my ex-partner. I simply want my child to have both parents in their life so hopefully despite their parents not being together they have the best childhood possible.

Well I think you should get blood testing done asap.. I dont understand why you would not be named on the birth
cert, unless you dont live in the same home.

But to make sure your doing the right thing, I think you should at least order blood tests to ensure your not stopping her
from leaving with someone else's child.. I didnt get to read thru all the posts only yours as I am on my way to work as always :)

but I would say if you dont live in the same home or even if you do, I dont know why you wouldnt be on the birth cert, that certainly

doesnt sound right.

is there more you can share about this whole situation ? not to be nosey :)

Genealogy / All Future Polish Genealogy Researchers: Please Read before you start a thread [45]

1772 and 1919.

The First Partition of Poland, which the Poles proved incapable of resisting, was decided on August 5, 1772. Two decades later, Russian and Prussian troops entered Poland again and the Second Partition was signed on January 23, 1793. Austria did not participate in the Second Partition. The Third Partition of Poland took place on October 24, 1795, as soon as the Polish Kościuszko Uprising was defeated. With this partition, the independent Polish state ceased to exist.[1]

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partitions_of_Poland

so in between the Partitions taking place Poland was still Poland until the had fully taken over by the third Partition.

yes, lets base our findings on facts , between 1772 and 1795 Prior to Polands defeat your ancestors did live in What was called
POLAND until the third Partition and so all we need now is a area Map showing which Partitions were no longer considered Poland
From those dates up until Oct 24, 1795.

but Now it hit me why so many Polish left,, I will use this in my own family history book.

As a result of the Partitions, Poles were forced to seek a change of status quo in Europe.[13][14] Polish poets, politicians, noblemen, writers, artists, many of whom were forced to emigrate (thus the term Great Emigration) became the revolutionaries of the 19th century, as desire for freedom and liberty became one of the defining parts of Polish romanticism.

a Summed up version is : Europe screwed them over!

Genealogy / THE MEANING AND RESEARCH OF MY POLISH LAST NAME, SURNAME? [4501]

I was surprised to find out the meaning of my last name and where it came from, which makes me ask the question of why

did Germany follow a leader that killed their own people and he was said to be Jewish, and claimed German blood.

Luther ( German first name)

so if you were German and renamed yourself polish you were pretty much toast.

Genealogy / Looking for relatives of Anna Rutkowska from Augustow [5]

Also, several years ago genealogy sites suggested sending $50 with requests. Is this still good advice?

Carol first ask if they can locate records, then send them a decent donation, thats not really very much now a days , I usually send

more then that, especially to the church.

Related: Falicki Family in Augustow, Poland

Looking for anyone who might have information on anyone named Falicki currently living in Augustow. My hope is that they will have history of the family who immigrated to Michigan in 1899.

FALICKI: root-word chwała (praise, glory, boasting /chwalić się/); this is a simplified form of Chwalicki, which probably produced Falicki because the initial aich-sound in Chwalicki was barely audible in rapid or even normal colloquial speech.

What you need is the church address and or the town /city hall address for more records

if you already have the date of birth and someone can post the church name and address you
can get a letter prepared for translation and send it out .

UK, Ireland / Why can't unemployed Polish people on benefits just leave UK and go home please? [240]

Why won't they just go home to Poland

maybe the amount of money they get from it isnt enough to get them home, ever think of that, some govt sub dont
give enough to pay all the bills, and keep people above water, you think they enjoy it, I cant imagine just existing
on it and not living comfortable.. you need to realize they might not enjoy living like that either.

Food / Stuffed cabbage - gołąbki - recipe [59]

I will be making some in the next week or so here, prob my next weekend off, and I will be
making a double batch one for our family ( cause my oldest brother is a monster when I cook them)
And send some to him, plus one of our friends who just re-modeled my kitchen ( woo hoo)

I think I will make them both ways with a mushroom sauce and then maybe with the tomato juice or my original
way.. I just was curious what was the very first original recipe ( before cans) LOL

I was thinking maybe that they would cook tomatoes down and then bake them on top, but of course spice them
up some, I know when you bake tomatoes the flavor changes ( pretty tasty) Vs putting them in a pot and cooking
them down ( which I have made a homemade spagettie sauce from my garden tomatoes and it was awsome, my daughters
friends asked me what kind of sauce I used from a jar and I said I didnt, they loved it! And it was healthy and I didnt use

harsh chemicals, only a food and ground it into the soil with that dark fine soil and yeah, they were some really good
tomatoes!!

Genealogy / Being ashamed of Polish ancestry? [156]

When it's used as a stick to beat others with, it's certainly not something to celebrate.

I tend to agree with this point,

Polonius, your a poor excuse for Polish American, you put down other kids who learned beside you, what kind of educated
man would do this? fully knowing the fact that all children learn at different levels and that this isnt the fault of the children
so why would you call them mongrels?? the only person I see as a mongrel is you at this point, you should not post representation

on this board of yourself as the ultimate POLISH AMERICAN when you clearly stink at it!!

Respect is something that is earned, I dont see how you would earn respect when you knock down others!!
education should have taught you this as well as your parents!
That is a Huge Polish American Tradition, to respect others, something you forgot to learn, you can be proud of who
you are and your ancestry without cutting down people that have done nothing against you.

Let me also make one thing clear, I am second generation, I dont watch the telelvison 6 hours of the day, I dont have time, most

Americans dont, unless they are laid off , then they have alot of time, not their fault though.

what gets me is that it seems like everyone gets a general idea of how Americans are by watching television in Europe as well
and base their opinions on that. BTW California is a entertainment state.. so how you get around that when you live
around pretty much all the movie stars in America I dont know.

Europe has sports, different kind, but none the less sports they invest in as well, and this is also a big deal over there, with racing

and hockey and soccer.. come on with this media crap.. its not about that we all know it.

what i see is that people cant get over the fact that no one is better then anyone else!! its a huge world, you can choose to live

where you all want to, and still make choices of helping others.. that includes poland if you want.

I just find it really fricken silly that a Polish American is ashamed of his own.. take the silver spoon out out of your fanny and

quit acting like your the representation of the whole.

To Others on the board, what defines you is your business, some may struggle, some may have a easy time and not have
to fight , but in the end you became who you are because your family survived and none of us would be here if those before us

didnt fight their way to get to this point in time.

Lets not forget that !

Genealogy / Being ashamed of Polish ancestry? [156]

I've banged my fair share of Polish women and most of them have said they want a green card so they never have to return to Poland.

so your basing your observation on that?

There was also a fair share that came to America only to work and went back to stay in Poland,

I know there are plenty who wanted to forget, this was typical of some ( not all) Polish Immigrants during early
Immigration.

As for all the chicks you banged.. TMI EM_WAVE MY FRIEND>> TMI

Genealogy / Being ashamed of Polish ancestry? [156]

For example, I have mixed ancestral roots but I don't really see the need to take great pride in everyone of my ancestors' nationalities

well if you choose to not know or dont care thats your choice, if you have like 10 different mixes it would be hard to
figure out, none the less interesting if you could even count that high. :)

Not really. Just the ones that visit this site (naturally).

oh we have a new cencus enumerator who happens to know that the whole population of Polish Americans that he knows
Personally Arent Proud of their Ancestry.

put some people off by being too vigorous in their pride

Yeah, supposedly we wave keilbasa and make t-shirts and prance around..

I think those that spend so much time thinking about all of this need some serious help, because I certainly dont
spend so much time wondering why so many other nationalities that come to this site (POLISHFORUMS) why they
are wannabe Polish Either. its not my style.. and it would be wrong of me to accuse so many people of something
so foolish as that now wouldnt it.

because they obviously come here because they feel connected in some way, otherwise they would be on another forum
making waves now wouldnt they? Or would they?

Tune in next time for Trollers of the forum continues saga.

Please lets grow up folks, please lets discuss it like adults, we all can do this, its the accusations and stupid comments
like this one which sounds so bi-polar its not funny.. well it is funny, but thats beside the point.

Desperation to belong I suppose, not quite sure of what they are so there’s the need to prove themselves. I do not view them as Polish, you are what you feel in your heart, the right to be Polish has to be earned.

Thug, you shouldnt have wrote you are what you feel in your heart cause it takes away from the other stupid part of your paragraph

now I have to wonder WTF your saying.. cause it sounds like your nipping the bottle babe.

anyways... I love that I am American of Polish decent, I love my grandparents for bringing our family here, the struggles, as a kid
I didnt know any of this, but bullys would say stupid shyt to us as kids and we would hate being Polish, least thats my younger view

now as an adult, learning that this was only bullying, I appreciate that my grandparents came here, they sacraficed alot but made it
thru it and they did what they had to like anyone else's grandparent would to survive.

And to boot they had to put up with jealous family on top of it.. no one was stopping those who decided to stay from coming here too

they had options they choose to stay.. the world is a big place and if you have the wind against your back you will only move forward

Thats what they did

so thats my story and I am sticking to it.. :)

Send her a photo of your nob and ask if she'd prefer that instead? :D

lmao

I second this wonderful piece of advice

Third! lol

would you not tell her she's being insane?

we all have bad relationships, she isnt ready to let go of this guy, maybe he sweet talked her, who
knows, but until she is completely out of it with him she wont be entirely yours. so its good that your
seperating yourself, because it sounds like a whole lotta drama was about to happen.

keep your life on track, you cant save someone if they dont want to be saved.

Love / Polish girls want to be dominated. Fact? [63]

If it turns out the ex is back and she doesn't want to try because of this or any other reason, I can feel like I can move on having tried to fix it like a man. This whole "one mistake and I'm done and moving on" just isn't my thing.

might not be your thing, but think about how you came from a whole different lifestyle and walked into a cold arms!

I think you wanting to see if she is worth it, well I hope for your sake she is, maybe she made a mistake and felt pressured

who knows, but dont you think that as adults, even you would have said listen, I dont think you coming is a good idea, I think

you should find another place to stay, I felt embarassed when I read that, almost for you because of her, not that is my problem

but as the reader, you kinda put yourself in the shoes of the writer.. thats why you get so many different responses but all worth

thinking about.

you know her best, if you feel she isnt doing anything wrong, or she is confused, then trying is probably an option, but I hope

she isnt stringing you along till the next time then say goodbye.

she must be doing rather good for herself to have a place of her own and able to go out.

if you order the social security for your grandfather laurence which shows he died in 1937 I believe, you could get his fathers

Life / Secrets of Poland - what makes it so special? [13]

Poland's best assets

Amber is plentyful in Poland

Amber (Bursztyn in Polish) is fossilized tree sap that dates back 40 million years. It comes from all around the world, but the highest quality and richest deposits are found around the Baltic Sea. During the colder months, when water density reaches its highest point, amber floats up from the seabed and is washed to shore by the waving sea. Amber is the only fossil resin that contains 3 to 8% succinic acid, a multi-purpose therapeutic substance, that was prescribed by early physicians for headaches, heart problems, arthritis and a variety of other ailments. In ancient times it was carried by travellers for protection. All of our amber is directly imported from the Baltic city of Gdansk, Poland.

Wow I didnt even know they used it for headaches, I wonder if it actually worked for that?

anyways, thought this was a good start :)

good luck to you

Genealogy / Americans of Polish descent. How many of us are on Polish forums? [216]

Why would somebody have to live in Poland to prove that he/she is interested in Poland.I state it quite clearly I am AMERICAN of POLISH DESCENT.Why is it wrong to have an interest

Its not and you have every right to go there and every right to look up your familys line and you might even have rights to citizenship

because POLAND itself has a policy which states this... I forgot all the details of it , but you do have rights.. isnt that cool, you

have more rights then someone who say, came from scottland/uk so to speak and can get citizenship.. because its where your family
came from, same as if they were from there, they would get same privlege,

some of you give a lot of thought about your rhetoric

I agree, but its mostly because the same people keep making each other miserable, its just like a broken record, over and over and over

but pay no attention, have a look into the genealogy links area :)

Don't be so full of yourselves.I want to live in America and I would like to visit Poland.

amen!

USA, Canada / Can you BE Polish without SPEAKING Polish in the US? [256]

but not the real McCoy if Poles have to learn a foreign language in order to speak with you.

so the Polish that immigrated to Britain who are working and making a living there are they now considered British?
cause it seems like theres alot of people who still refer to them as polish stealing their jobs, not British stealing their jobs.

even when they decide to live and become British, there is alot of anger there about jobs, but if they learn the language of
english and become a citizen then they are British.

Anyway when I eat kielbasa, smalec, and drink Warka lol I beat myself at my chest and say to myself I am proud to Polish...it is in your blood.

USA, Canada / Can you BE Polish without SPEAKING Polish in the US? [256]

I dont know what historical documents say over in Russia or Poland or any part of Europe , but here, when the immigrants did sign documents for any reason, until they

actually became citizens of the United States they called themselfs Russian Polish, German Polish, etc

its funny how europe is where they came from, yet they cant claim any part of it once they leave .

so your wife is no longer polish now that she is with you in the states, she is now a American of Polish decent.

same as we all say, we have family back in poland, some of us are less fortunate to learn the language, prob because polish treat them just as bad so why bother.

The govt has nothing to do with why people are polish.. its culture. every country has a govt and all of them are arseholes.
and how could poland expect people to come help them when they could give two shyts about the people they dont call their family anymore?

if your going to stab me in the back then I will not claim my ancestry as Polish, why should I?? let it all die in euope and dont call us when you need help next time

someone is trying to take over.. yeah, forget those that you need the most.

one of my great uncles talked about Poland, about the beauty, the hills, the forests, he boasted about it to our family, what he forgot to mention was that our brothers and sisters

would one day tell us we are no longer welcome, that we dont belong. that all the ancestors we have known to fight for polands independence were fought for nothing

because the newer generations would tell us that because we dont live there were nothing.

I learned a word from my father, I am sure he learned it from his..

hows about those who think we dont belong can kiss my dupa!

if I spelled it wrong oh well, if I get suspended oh well.. not like I will miss much. same old crap different day.

I try to not read these threads, and ignore the posts, but sometimes its like, how can people who just recently came from Poland even have the balls

to say you dont belong when they clearly are only going to visit, they will come here to the states, talk crap about those who say they are polish or of polish ancestry

and they are living in another country same as we are.. hypokrite comes to mind..

truth is what does it matter if they say this or not, they make light conversation of it, your right, not that many care anymore, and I dont blame them, and guess what.

thank yourself for it, cause its all the wanna be American polish that have put up with it for so long, now no longer really care, so if your country goes to the toilet,

then so WHAT!!!!

And for those that go to Poland who are not Polsih, but have citizenship, if you still claim your ancestry then you are not Polish either, do you dress up in the traditional

hats and clothing and go to the festivals and perform ? do you cook Polish food? do you speak polish even when your talking to your own relatives? do you POOP

Polish too??? cause if you dont do any of these things you are not Polish, you are just a citizen of Poland of some other decent engaging in Politics and pretending to be

Polish,,

so instead of a Plastic Pole we will call you the ceramic Pole. your almost cooked but not quite done yet. you dont have all the requirements down yet.

lol

Love / Problem with a brutal American guy (now I live in Poland) [88]

I am also getting the first task done for the next week before I contact Police

you write this.. but before this you wrote.

[quote=FoundBenek]she suggested not to get to the court or the police - the level of abuse with my name and address is so high that any meeting with that person can be harmful for now.

then you wrote:

I feel better, gained some respect. I think that's what it is.

after this you write:

to get the t-shirt done with the written sign "I don't mind getting humiliated" :-)
I think this is ok :-)

WTF??

a spin off of the other story.
