Travel / My Experience in Poland (compared to Germany) [100]

@Atch

He did go on to clarify that he would have no problem in having to "deal with corruption" to get things done if that were necessary. It's a very idealistic world you paint but sadly in the real world we sometimes have to conform to the cultural "traditions" even though we may rail against the things that some of us have to do.

There is no guarantee that Poland won't be touched by immigration but it's safe to say that compared to many European countries then Poland is regarded as one of the final bastions of a multi-cultural-less society.

News / Brutal rape by Polish man on homeless woman in Rome [50]

Your utter ignorance of all things Polish strongly suggests otherwise.

Funny that as there are people who live in Poland and who ALSO disagree with you so what does that suggest then ?

When I go to London I see more and more Japanese people-that doesn't mean they all live in the city permanently. If your point revolves around how many dark skinned people you see on your daily sojuorn then your argument is paper thin.

He doesn't have to relocate to a country that he suspects might be corrupt.

That's a very broad statement to make. Are there elements within Polish society that are corrupt ? Yes. Would I extend that to declare that Poland is corrupt ? No.

Corruption occurs in every country in the world. Places like the UK are just better at covering it up as it's become institutionalised and harder to unearth but it still goes on. He didn't say he wants to move to Poland because it is corrupt but in spite of the corruption.

That's not a sound basis on which to up sticks and move to another country

Don't underestimate how people feel about forced multi-culturism. I don't think Poland is considered yet to be a place to migrate to but things could change.

@mafketis

It's generous of you to ignore the outlandish claim that Lyzko just made. He's saying that Poles (and Russians) bribe employers in the United States to ensure they are not made redundant when times are tough. Wonder how that works :)

Laughable !

Poland, on the other hand, gets (almost exclusively) better and better; thank you for doing what you can to make Poland a better place.

What on earth are you talking about ??

Life / English family in Wroclaw! [70]

I personally prefer the qualify of life in Poland

A common dilemma for many Poles here in the UK. Over here it is easier to make decent money and live a better life (materially) but so many Poles yearn for the beauty of their homeland.

UK, Ireland / Cheap calls to Poland from the UK [134]

Be careful guys.

We've used some of these cheap/free calls to Poland in the past and they have a habit of discontinuing the number after a while and changing it to one that is charged at a higher rate.

@OwCr

I have some very good friends here in the UK who were born in Olsztyn. I have been there a few times and to the castle too. There's quite a few limestone castle ruins in that area. Biskupice sounds familiar....

Then their are those who are so sadly misinformed that they don't think LOT has a terminal in Chicago like this one. (terminal 5)

Oh dear. That's very embarrassing for Harry.

Ideally somebody who has also been to Poland, which counts you out spiritus.

How would you know ? My parents are Polish, grandparents and great grandparents both from maternal and paternal side. My wife is Polish also.

I've been to Poland many times although I have never lived there. If you're capable of fabricating lies about me for no other reason that I disagree with many of your posts then it doesn't take much imagination about what other lies you write about on here.

News / Polish man tries to sell British mother into white slave trade [128]

This story is full of holes.

I really wish the mods could accept that a shift in moderation is required on this board as there are a few regular posters whose sole intention is to start negative threads about Poland and Poles and then insult or fabricate lies about the people who disagree with them.

There's a real sense of mental illness about the motivations of some of these posters if you voluntarily choose to live in a country yet hate it that much that you're willing to spend time evidently trawling the internet for only negative stories about Poland and Poles. I wish I could counter these blatant propaganda posts more often but the truth is that, like most of the rest of us, I have a life to live and would rather do more productive things with my time than be obsessed in painting Poland in such a negative light.

Trying to crawl into the mindset of some of these Poland haters I wonder what keywords they use when trawling the internet for negative news stories. Perhaps they have a list of keyword search phrases that they then type into Google every day e.g. "Polish man slavery" "Polish drink driver" etc etc. Perhaps they even have Google alerts set up so news stories are flagged whenever their keyword phrase selection is triggered.

When you think about it that really requires an enormous amount of negative energy to maintain and quite frankly is not normal behaviour.

News / Poland directly threatened by ISIS. Do Islamists planning terrorist attacks in Poland? [390]

Swedish scientists started to found evidences that Vikings were Muslims.

A complete propaganda piece.

Scholars (one of whom was a muslim) found that if they looked at a specific section of material THROUGH A MIRROR REFLECTION then it resembles the Arabic word for Allah.

Stretching it a little bit don't you think ?

Life / Advice needed on Dental implant in Poland [119]

You wouldn't get quotes from a dentist though, would you?

If you're paying privately then that is EXACTLY what someone should be doing.

The difficult thing to do is to balance the price with the dentist's reputation and quality i.e. cheapest is not always best and the most expensive is not always best either.

I know someone who is having implants done in Poland. It still isn't cheap but cheaper than on the NHS but you have to factor in the travel costs as well.

News / Austria's swing to the far right on Poland? [214]

The problem is there isn't a credible "moderate right" party on the political scene yet-God knows we need one and the danger is that people will attach themselves to the far right as it's closest to their own views.

Dirk

I only hope that the sentiments you express (in line with my own) will eventually trickle down to mainstream politics and all this PC liberal crap is just a "phase" we're going through.

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

If Kurz is victorious, I wonder how his victory on the heels of last year's defeat to Van der Bellen will embolden Germany's AfD, Poland, and Hungary.

First of all, I'm not convinced that Kurz is far right so your headline is misleading. Anyone who speaks out about Islamic segregation these days is automatically labelled far right and/or racist. Those accusations used to be enough to shut the argument down but not anymore as there ARE things wrong with the Christian-Islamic society that is evolving in Europe and it is only right that people are allowed to voice their opinions (especially those who speak from experience-which discounts some members from this forum !).

@Spiritus, have you never heard of cloaking a potentially dangerous agenda behind safe-sounding, soft words??

Of course but that doesn't mean EVERYONE has a dangerous agenda just because they do not toe the liberal party line. Are we really living in a world where if you're not a liberal then you must be a racist ?

Yeah Poles REALLY were helped during and after ww2 and into the cold war... please!!

My family have personal experience of this. They spent years after the war in DP camps throughout Germany. They were moved from camp to camp at least 15 times and each time were told you could only take essential items with you. Rations inside the camps were worse than most people had to endure during the war years.

Again, in the long run, ............, instead, the humane path

@Lyzko On this point I am not disagreeing with you.

On a moral level we are all human beings and we should all get along, respect our neighbours and fellow citizens, integrate with people of other cultures etc etc. I would genuinely love to see the town and country I live in to operate at this level but the reality is sadly different.

I know I am repeating myself from other threads but showing tolerance and respect to a specific community who themselves are religiously and culturally hard-wired to be intolerant of people who do not share their faith is a recipe for disaster.

Cultural jihad is playing out right here and right now albeit mostly by stealth.

News / Austria's swing to the far right on Poland? [214]

Many have forgotten as well, that the Austro-Hungarian Empire, though not multi-cultural as New York, for instance, DID represent a degree of diversity which was unique at that time

Migration has been a driving force of society throughout the 20th Century but they were nearly all legal migrants who applied through the proper channels.

What is happening today is that migrants are trying to gang rush vulnerable borders and that cannot be allowed to continue

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

What you're suggesting is that Poland, suffers an immense burden because one president, in one member state (Germany), acted unilaterally to set EU immigration policy by telling millions of barbarians to flood into the union

And this is it. This is the nail on the head. How on earth can Poland or Hungary be forced to accept an EU directive that seemingly came from the mouth of one leader without any public (or political) backing ?

It's hard for me to understand how someone can hold such disdain for their own people.

Welcome to Polish Forums :)

There's a handful of members on here who are extremely motivated to contribute to the forum with a very definite anti-Poland bias. Read some of the other more popular threads and it will become self evident what is going on here.

Travel / Gdansk Christmas markets [26]

If you go to Gdansk then you should also go to Gdynia and Sopot. Very easy to get to by train. The three cities are very close to each other and have their own identity but Gdynia and Sopot especially have nice beaches which your child might enjoy.

Gdansk is great to explore too, plenty of gothic looking buildings etc

It is possible to have a small Muslim community and not have anarchy in your country.

You're being a little misleading with your suggestion.

By your own admission, Ireland has a small muslim community so you cannot use Ireland as a shining beacon of how muslims integrate into the wider community when just across the Irish Sea are plenty of examples of how they fail to integrate

@SigSauer

Don't let them wear you down Sig. You've only recently joined PF and soon realised the tone that some members adopt. I liken it to propaganda of sorts although I can't fathom out any viable motive for their determination to bad mouth Poland at every opportunity. Anyway, keep up the good fight.

Secondly, I feel I have an unpaid job on this board that whenever refugees are discussed it is my duty to raise a sign that says "do you mean refugee, migrant or asylum seeker" ? We should all refuse to accept one description without questioning it's veracity.

Should Poland be forced to accept refugees ? My answer is for Poland to be shown firm evidence that the people in question are genuine refugees (and not migrants) and then a debate can begin. Until that happens then Poland doesn't have a case to answer.

Travel / Gdansk Christmas markets [26]

This is an excellent example of why it's a good idea to only take travel advice from people who've actually been to the place in question

Will you just shut the f*ck up Harry.

You're like a broken record. I have been to Poland many times, my wife is from Gdynia. If you keep spreading lies about me then I will start with you........

Message to the mods-if you want to ban me then do it but idiots like Harry who carry their poison from thread to thread get away with it. I replied in all helpfulness to the OP. I haven't baited Harry yet he can't stop being a d*ckhead.

Lisa, sorry for that but this forum has it's fair share of bullies who try to dominate threads by belittling the opinion of other members.

Now, as you are going to Gdansk in December I thought it was pointless in telling you that the "winter is cold" blah blah blah. I assume you know all of this anyway :)

I wasn't suggesting you don your bikini but children love beaches whether it's hot or cold and I still maintain Sopot and Gdynia have nice beaches that your child will enjoy. Yes, it will be cold but you'll be dressed warmly. There's a famous pier in Sopot that on fine days, (even winter days.....Harry) people promenade up and down taking in the view whilst kids love feeding the swans on the beach (took me a while to get used to seeing swans on a beach-here in the UK you only get them in lakes and rivers).

There is usually a skating rink just at the front of Sopot pier in December which may or not be your thing :) Kids especially love the chocolate bars, Sopot has one called Blikle or Wedel (always get them mixed up) where they serve an amazing array of hot and cold chocolate drinks....google it !

Gdynia also has a nice beach with it's own kids playground right on the sand. Polish winters can be harsh but Poles are used to it so if you're blessed with a sunny day in December then there will still be plenty of people walking around.

There is also an aquarium on the pier in Gdynia which kids love.

Exactly and Merkel and the EU seem to be making rules up as they go along. I find this almost as worrying as the porous borders.
