Polonia / POLES vs BULGARIANS [160]

George8600

Yes, Poles and balkan people do get along. I am half Greek and half Polish and there are near a quarter million Poles living in Greece.

I realize that post is quite old, but even in 2009 there was not a "a quarter million Poles living in Greece." The article below says about circa 50 000.

In Greece, because of the crisis, been living and working fewer Poles. According to the data of our embassy in Greece, a few years ago Polonia in this country had about 50,000 people. Currently, there are about 10-20 thousand of our compatriots.
Ambassador Maciej Krych explains that the Polish situation has worsened due to restrictions on investment. Most of our fellow citizens in Greece worked in construction, but due to the crisis the industry has declined and there is no work. Besides the Poles has been replaced by different citizens of other countries who have less financial requirements.
In view of this situation, many Poles returned home or went to other countries. This trend is very well seen based on the number of children in Polish schools. A couple of years ago studied here one and a half thousand Polish children, 2 years ago, about 800, now is a 300 Polish students.

forsal.pl/artykuly/673418,liczba_polakow_w_grecji_zmniejszyla_sie_nawet_pieciokrotnie_przez_kryzys.html

. Why do you think there's so many Poles living in Greece?

- because Greece was much richer and had warmer weather and 50 000 is not so many considering 500 000 living in UK.

So "Germinization" as you put it might not be in full effect but it happens. I have already run into many German restaurants and bookstores here in Greece

- you're joking. Many moved to Greece because of weather, not some kind of political plan. Now many are coming back because of economic problems.

Work / Possibility of jobs in Warsaw - how much pay per hour? [12]

It's same easy to find job in Warsaw, but you must know Polish, and expect minimum salary. When you don't know polish or expect more than 1500PLN gross for full time, then it's getting harder. And there is question what time are your studies (mon - fir, or fri- sun, day or evening)

Law / Getting registered in a house in Poland after getting married to a Polish citizen? [2]

You can check this:

There are two types of residence registration:

* Temporary stay (generally up to 3-months)
* Permanent stay.

Temporary stay registration

Up to 2 months:

Temporary residence should be registered if we know that the time of our stay will exceed 3 days and we should report to the office no later than 4 days from date of arrival in the specified location.

In the case of report for a period of two months we make the application orally at the town hall in the presence of the owner, or the person who holds any other right to the flat / house in which we live.

Depending on the office practice varies - sometimes for a period of 2-3 months, you can report orally, sometimes you must fill out a form, then apply the rules listed below.

Over 3 months:

In certain cases, a temporary check exceed three months. This includes people who:

- are employed outside the place of residence,
- are staying in a different place in connection with: educating, treatment, recreation or for family reasons,
- are taking active military service or are placed in prisons, correctional institutions, in detention centers or shelters for minors.

In these cases, it is assumed that someone is in a different location, although for more than three months, but the stay did not lost, however, the temporary nature.

In order to check-in, we have to fill out a form (available at the municipality office or on their website), which contained our data, ie:

* name (with family name), and first names,
* previous names and first names,
* parents' names and surnames,
* first names and last name of the spouse with the family name,
* marital status,
* gender,
* date and place of birth,
* citizenship,
* PESEL number,
* address: the former and the new place of permanent residence,
* type, series and number of identity document and information about education.

In addition, we provide also:

* the intended period of stay,
* confirmation of residence at a given address made by the person with the right to property
* for inspection by the official: confirmation of the above rights to the premises: eg. a copy of the Book of Perpetual, or property purchase agreement, court order (eg. a inheritance statement).

In order to check-in (regardless of the period), we need to identify ourselves by using:

* valid identity card,
* passport,
* abridged copy of birth in the case of minors who do not have an ID card.

Permanent stay registration

If your stay in a different location will exceed three months, and we do not meet the criteria for long-term temporary meld, or we plan to permanently settle in another place, we have to check in for permanent stay.

1. Check out.

To register for a permanent (or temporary residence) in another place we must check out from the previous location. To do so we must go to the municipal office in the place of registration and fill out a form. Personal data originally given at check-in shall be indicated. Check-out must be made no later than on the departure day. We obtain a certificate of checkout, which will be required to check in at the new location.

Check out by the change of residence is the same obligation as the check-in in the new place.

2. Check-in.

Check-in procedure at the place of residence is similar to that for temporary stay for more than two months.

We fill only another print: ie. Notification of permanent residence.

In order to change the place of permanent residence check out statement from the former habitual residence should be submitted.

The request can be submitted in person, or through a family member, guardian or actual legal or any other person authorized by us.

Change of permanent stay require Polish ID card to be replaced. The application for a new ID must be reported within 14 days from the date of check-in. Cost: 30PLN.

3. Children check-in.

Check-in of newborns is made in the Municipal Office, based on the information reported to the Civil Status at birth. Notification of birth is considered to be synonymous with the check of a child:

- In place of permanent residence of mother (in principle)
- In the place of permanent residence of the person with whom the child actually resides
- Or in a place designated by the Court of Guardianship.

On behalf of minors and incapacitated persons the residence place report is made by their legal representative (parents, guardians, curator), or the person who actually has custody.

Then a shared residential address of carer and the minor / incapacitated will be the address.

There is no need to report a temporary stay of less than three months in respect to children under 7 years-in.

NOTES:

Failure to comply with the registration obligation generally is not a big problem - the law enforcement agencies are not interested in sample verifications, however during the inspection of documents the authorities may be interested in the absence of such report.[/i]

USA, Canada / Getting job in U.S. with Polish degree [14]

I don't know personally, by doubt that Polska Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu is worth anything in time of high unemployment in USA. It seams that to get good job in corporation it's better to graduate some highly ranked uni and private polish universities even in Poland have low reputation. (except of maybe few exceptions)

Work / After Masters in Management, Job Opportunities in Poland ? [34]

What have you studied Sunny Girl and in which cities have you been looking for job?

To author of topic: Maybe it's worth for you to study in Poland if you want to go back working in India after that. Employers in your country may think that you got western education and because of that it may be easier for you to compete with other Indians. Especially if you learn Polish language then it may be unique skill on Indian market. But it's only if you cannot pay for education in other country with higher ranked universities. And graduation from polish university doesn't make it easier to get a job in other western country. You're still out of EU and Polish universities are low ranked comparing to western.

Work / Ukrainian Software Developer moving to Poland - job and salary with my experience? [15]

Just start applying and you will see. I think there are many positions where knowing of Polish language is not necessary.
In this post I linked to salaries in IT:

remember about 30- 40 % difference between gross and net pay.
I think that for most companies your teaching experience will be disadvantage, except if you're planing to teach here. As to PHD it depends if the topic was relevant to the business of company. Anyway for some companies it could be plus, suggesting that you're smart person, for other just less real working experience.

Should be very easy to find any job for a polish person with your experience. I don't know how companies are ready to ask for Visa for you and this could be working against. But perhaps you could find a job through this 6 months in a years working permission for Ukrainians (Is IT included to that? ) and then when you work for them and see that you're good will request for Visa for you.

Register on goldenline.pl and linkedin.com, as location write Kraków, and start asking headhunters on this sites. Fill there your experience, and maybe they will contact you.

Start sending your cv to adds offered on job portals:

google.pl/search?q=praca+w+it+polska
google.pl/search?q=praca+w+polsce

Probably Skype interviews are possible and then you can see (by number of invitation to interviews) how wanted worker you are and how much salary you may demand. And remember that there are substantial differences in salaries depending on city what you can read in my 1st link here. Good luck and have fun :)

I am quite sure that if you get working visa then your wife gets one automatically also. Ask polish embassy in Ukraine.

Work / Ukrainian Software Developer moving to Poland - job and salary with my experience? [15]

Yeah, that's true. According to:

payscale.com/research/UA/Country=Ukraine/Salary
payscale.com/research/PL/Country=Poland/Salary

IT salaries in Ukraine are even higher than in Poland. How accurate is this data? Also I've heard that in Belarus IT salaries are quite good, because employees of IT sector doesn't have to pay income tax and Ukrainians can work in Belarus without Visa.

blog.ciklum.com/2012/07/it-salaries-in-ukraine-may-2012/ - another link also suggests that it doesn't have sense for Ukrainians to emigrate. What percentage of gross salary is net in Ukraine, let's say from 2000 USD per month?

Work / Job opportunities for experienced US Civil Engineer in Poland - any hope? [30]

I don't think going to University in your age has any sense. The problem is that currently here is crisis in construction sector - the biggest companies have bankrupted or are in the process and in current year EU money for road are not spent. Next year they should resume, so it should get better. But Civil Engineering and Architecture became meanwhile very popular specialty, so currently there is extremely many graduates searching for job in this field. This profession is highly controlled and careers step are usually by getting next certificates and authorizations. So if you have no polish certificates and your diploma is not recognized here then you're in worse situation than graduates. In my opinion you should investigate what should you do to recognize your diploma, experience, obtain certificates here. Perhaps you could do 1 year of program difference in university to have diploma recognized.

Work / Job opportunities for experienced US Civil Engineer in Poland - any hope? [30]

But if your previous engineering experience will not be relevant to "field of IT, telecom, financing, business", then I think that you will struggle to get any job, in your age as a newbie, not mentioning well paid one. Probably you can get better teaching English, provided that you mastered it while living abroad.

@DominicB: If the author wants his children to live in Poland then he better doesn't send them for foreign studies, because they will have the same problem as their father :)

Maybe you want to do scientific carrier in Poland? American MSc should be enough to do PhD here and perhaps you would be interesting employee for Politechniki with your international experience. But before starting ask people closer to academia if it's possible in Poland to get there without connections.

That's my point Grzegorz. But on the other hand Jardinero writes "not to mention lower costs associated with raising children in the long run, which virtually is what ruins us here." So he really believes that it can be cheaper to rise children in Poland.

That's only true when he earns here American wages, as DominibB writes.

Life / Moving from India to Wroclaw [53]

1) General information about the prices you can get from here: numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1= India&city1=Mumbai&country2=Poland&city2=Wroclaw&displayCurrency= EUR

Prices of public transport tickets: wroclaw.pl/files/bilety,biletomaty/cennik%20od%201052012.pdf
- 90 days ticket for all lines: 240PLN
- 30 days for 2 chosen lines: 90PLN

Internet for example in this company: netia.pl/oferta-dom/internet/internet-max-20.html
- 30zł / month 1Mbit/s
- 40zł - 4Mbit/s
- 50zł - 20Mbit/s
(prices when signing 2 years contract. To the price add ~30zł phone line fee)

512kbit/s mobile internet is free in Poland. aero2.pl/bdi.html

2) From India you can book appartment through [airbnb.com or 9flats.com and when here you can rent something long term cheaper. This website has biggest number of private advertisements: gumtree.pl/fp-dom-mieszkanie-do-wynajecia/dolnoslaskie -wroclaw/c9008l3200007

3) I don't remember any Indian channels on 2 the most popular satellites in Poland (HotBirt and Astra 2), but take a look on this list. If you see there any satellite with Indian channels then you can receive it. But payed Indian tv is not offered in Poland, perhaps it is in UK. Then you could buy decoder in UK and watch in Poland.

digitalsat.co.uk/whichsatellite.html[/url] Maybe it would be simpler to pay for TV online

Maybe this post will interest you: https://polishforums.com/life-7/new-poland-bydgoszcz-cost-living-65488/. Here it's about Bydgoszcz. Wrocław has higher rent prices. And use search option, because similar questions were asked before in this forum.

No misunderstanding. I wrote that Wrocław has around the same prices like Bydgoszcz, except of rent prices and salaries (both little higher), so many prices you read in that topic about Bydgoszcz are valid for Wrocław also. Take a look at google map to see that there are houses around this kindergarden. Btw. how much does it cost? I expect to be much more expensive than kindergarden with polish staff.

Study / Coming to Krakow to study, how can I find a Polish family to host me ? [3]

Who told you that? I think that it's impossible. I've only heard about some older lonely people subletting room in their flat in exchange for help with shopping and lower than market price. Actually if you have chance go for dormitory, because they're cheaper than renting something on the free market.

Which is why working privately should be banned for those on full time contracts in the public health system.

Same way they forbade professors to be employed in more than 2 universities/colleges. So they work in other as a company.

Is not that a global problem ? Do you think Poles invented it ?

I don't know answer to your questions.

Study / Fake degree in Poland - legal consequence? [10]

Przestępstwo fałszowania dokumentów zawarte jest w art. 270. kodeksu karnego:
Art. 270. § 1.
§ 3. Kto czyni przygotowania do przestępstwa określonego w § 1, podlega grzywnie, karze ograniczenia wolności albo pozbawienia wolności do lat 2.

Penalty for documents forgery (or using of forged document) is imprisonment from 3 months to 5 years. Different question is how Polish University can check if Indian or Chinese diploma is original. Of course they may ask for Apostile, but I doubt that they do that.

Law / Help regarding Polish spouse visa issue for student of Erasmus Mundus Phd program in Poland [12]

Here you have bunch of important information for foreigners: forummigracyjne.org/en/aktualnosci.php?wid=34

Our ministry has mess on their websites, because I cannot find any webpage about this topic.

Here are general visa requirements: newdelhi.msz.gov.pl/en/consular_information/visa_information/visa_information

Polish embassy in New York writes:
" Certificate of marriage is required only when the applicant is traveling with a spouse as a dependent or when a spouse of the applicant is a UE citizen; Certificate of birth is required if an applicant is traveling with a minor."

nowyjork.msz.gov.pl/en/p/nowyjork_us_k_en/consular_information/visas/

So I guess that you should attache all this information to your visa application. The best call new dehli embassy: newdelhi.msz.gov.pl/en/

History / History of Poland in a pill - illustrated [41]

Why do you say that Polish nation was created only 100 years ago, when in chapter King and Quines you write "Kings and queens. The beginning of the Polish Nation." ?

Greeks and Romans had also slaves and It doesn't mean that their nation was not existing.

Nation may refer to a community of people who share a common language, culture, ethnicity, descent, or history.

According to this definition polish peasants were part of the nation.

Law / Help regarding Polish spouse visa issue for student of Erasmus Mundus Phd program in Poland [12]

If found you a little bit of information from portal of European Union (btw. much better than Polish embassy's website)

If you hold a settlement permit, a long-term residence permit or a residence permit and have resided in Poland for at least two years, you are entitled to family reunification.

Your family members include:

your spouse;
your minor unmarried children including adopted children and those of your spouse.

Where to apply? Family members may apply for a residence permit at the embassy or consulate in their country of origin.

You may also submit the reunification request in Poland.

ec.europa.eu/immigration/tab2.do?searchFromTab2=true&searchByCountryCountryId=20&searchByUserProfileId=4&searchByUserSubProfileId=0&loadProfileByCountry=true&language=8$en&langDefault=8$en&userLang=8&languageLocaleId=8

So this describes situation when you have Visa and staying permit (which you will probably have to apply when arriving in Poland). So that means that your wife will have to join you later. Don't know If it's possible to come together.

Law / Polish Visa Refused, Going To Make Appeal, What should I do ? [81]

But that's true. UK's court papers are meaningless in Poland. It's different country. Why are you surprised.

"Up to 97% of Armenians follow Christianity, which has existed in Armenia for over 1,700 years."
"Armenia was the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion, an event traditionally dated to AD 301"

But he's Iranian, not Armenian.

Should I tell them about my love about Poland and about my photography and website ?

It sounds crazy, when person from other continent, which never was in Poland says that he loves the country. I don't think it would help, because it doesn't sound probable

am going to appeal against my Schengen visa refusal (Polish visa)

Why have you applied for Schengen Visa, not just for Polish Visa. I guess that it's easier to get Visa for Poland only. I think that Polish embassies cannot give a lot of Schengen Visa for poor countries, because people will use it to come work illegally in Germany or France and later these countries will complain.

it is same case with me i know friends in poland by internet can i tell them to send me invitation and will it be considered in the embassy??

No, in Poland official invitation requires a lot of paperwork. Inviting person should have a work, assets and sign that will be responsible for you. It's not simple writing 1 page letter.

am demoralize and dont know how i will concentrate in class after my holidays. help me reach my dream pleas.

You sounds like crazy. I wouldn't give you Visa. It sounds like a child which lost his lollipop.
