Food / BREAD IN POLAND IS DETERIORATING [90]

And those greedmasters are going to use every trick in the book to trim costs and increase profits!!!

good point but somebody has sold those companies to them, so they were greedy as well.

When it comes to quality of bread in Poland in varies and if the German bread is cheaper, Poles will buy is, since it is NOT a well off society yet.

Genealogy / THE MEANING AND RESEARCH OF MY POLISH LAST NAME, SURNAME? [4500]

no, he usually makes a lot of stuff up. If you are really interested then you need to find somebody who actually knows something about last names.

He knows as much as I do - nothing about names, unless he has some links but I have never seen any;).
edit: I found a link:
genealogy.about.com/library/surnames/n/bl_name-NOWICKI.htm

so it is good to check on your own

and another one:

Life / Things that annoy you in Poland. [114]

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

this is what a good discussion is about: good laugh.

well im not gonna go around lifting their kilts ..

Polish men would never wear those, that would be so unmanly.

...oh no wait, those were scotish haha

it provides good ventilation: in my books Scotts are smart people;)

Life / Things that annoy you in Poland. [114]

yeah, the humour is a bit absent around here lately.

no kidding.

.somehow all threats end up in fights..

warrior syndrome, full moon, bitterness, lack of whatever with whomever, low vibrations, lack of exercise, poor diet, too much alcohol, not enough alcohol, the reasons vary.

Attitude is important.

you can almost feel the claws and teeth...

I call it practicing human instincts: who knows.

True, they feel too macho,

true,

but its the same around all of the east-block...its bizarre

it would be interesting to find out why, although I am not sure if all the Eastern block is like that.

ventilation AND also the chance to flash someone you dont like :D, OR have a quicky at the back of a dark alley...multitask is the good old scotish kilt :P

a multitude of appllications:)

Yeah batteries might be almost done...(if you know what i mean ;)

I had something different in mind: low energy level over all but I think you are making a good point too;).

we just have to meet them yet...

one needs to be optimistic and I will work hard in order to be less sarcastic:)

gołąbki- peagons in Polish for some reason;)

BTW: Kapusta in an y form is really good for you, so Polish, Slavs and Germans know what they are doing.

Life / Recycling and the barter system in Poland [5]

Just a tip if you want a few quid in Poland, apply for a telephone line:)

what do you mean?

Any more examples?

when I was living in Poland I would put the stuff I wanted to get rid of by the garbage bin with a little note that " this blanket is still good". It was nicely packed and all that. I do it here as well, if the equipment is broken - I leave a note, so the happy bugger does not take it home and have his fuses blown out.

Life / Recycling and the barter system in Poland [5]

The can't run a landline so by law they have to pay me.

OK- I understand now.

In London they are very good at that, people make a living off collecting, tables sofas TVs etc...

well, you might want to know that I just recycled my old phone and tomorrow I am giving some clothes to charity:). Thanks for the suggestion.

Life / BEFORE Poland.. what did you do then and what are your plans now? [29]

TIT- who are you trying to impress? If you are a mean bastard then the eduction will not help you;)
kindergarden: from age 3 to age 6 _ I hated the Polish milk soup on the sunny days.
primary school: I loved the basketball team, but hated my Polish teacher.
Secondary school: well, it was even more boring and I hardly made it through because my math skills were really not up to par, but I loved chemistry.

College: lost of fun

university: stuck up/ inflexible profs and really lousy TA - overall - great experience/my first paper was handwritten and I got some strange looks from my peers.

and on, and on and on and on......

Love / They seem nice, but could Polish girls be "gold diggers"? [196]

Truth is not 'relative' and therefore does not change depending on the forum.

where did I say anything about it being relative I must ask?

Of course with liberals and feminists objective truth is indeed 'relative', and slippery.

Of course, after all it is YOU commenting on my post addressed to somebody else. You just cannot help yourself, can you? I think we already had a discussion about things and I have moved on, you, on the other hand are still stuck in the whole you have been digging under yourself.

Life / Womans day in Poland? [242]

Women retire earlier in Poland than men.

yes, but their pensions are lower because of that.

s that true? Even though women on average live 5-10 years longer than men?

at 55, but it results in financial disadvantage as far as I know.

Women in Poland can have a year of maternity leave vs. up to 6 weeks in the US.

Valentines Day is for both male and females but in Poland they think it's for women.

I doubt it:)

Polish women are spoiled.

In what sense ?
