Off-Topic / Eurovision - Today I will be ashamed to be Polish [481]

The voting is fixed. There is no way people in all these countries think the same and vote Sweden or Russia. I watch it to laugh at the farce that it is.

News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [859]

You have no idea how Russia think. You think that the murder of Nemtsov was a political decision, or perhaps he ****** somebody off to the point where they decided to kill him? Same with this situation. Kaczynski had been annoying Putin for a long time, until he had enough.

@Harry

You see this is where the obvious double standards kick in. You say this is what happened, even though you don't, and can't know this. You base your opinion on probability. Well Kaczynski told a pilot that he should land before, so it must have been his doing.

Many people, including myself, think that a lot of the suspicious events and actions surrounding the crash, before and after it, point to Russia having a big hand in the crash and it quite likely being deliberate. I however can't tell you that it was for sure, because there is no defining piece of proof that would prove that. Why do you and others like you think you know the cause of the crash, yet dismiss other people's theories, also based on certain facts, as jumping to conclusions?

Thanks for the link. I had a read, but where exactly do I go to get an invitation form and where do I submit it? On this page is mainly gives information as to what you need to provide.

Law / Visa to Poland? Invitation by a Polish student? [21]

Merged: Visa for Poland

I am going to write an invitation for someone to come to Poland soon but I have never done this before. Does someone know the procedure?

News / Local elections - anyone care to comment? [75]

Votes still being counted in some areas. It's funny that PiS get so much criticism for wanting these elections to be re-done, even though they won them. PiS see injustice and want it rectified even if that injustice may have benefited them. You think PO or some other party would do the same?

But I am glad that Adam Hoffman would no longer be preaching his tirades on TVN about how bad his political opponents are, suggesting that he himself together with his PiS colleagues are angels who fly over Poland keeping a watchful eye on the PO politicians and their sins

Now PO just need to kick out their own , far worse version of Hoffman, Niesiołowski, and things can even out.

Have you folks been hearing about the mess with PKW in the news? Apparently there are still some votes to be counted, and this is causing suspicions of foul play.

News / PO support drops by 4 pps after tape scandal according to WBJ [18]

That doesn't matter. The problem PiS face is that nobody will form a coalition with them

As warszawski has touched on and Monitor mentioned, Korwin Mikke will do a lot to get in to parliament. He'd sooner join the 'socialist' PiS than the post communists. He has had a lot of support and polls have him as being around 8% for now. If he can raise that just a little and PiS don't lose anything and perhaps gain a little more, who knows. The main danger for PiS is losing supporters to Nowa Prawica. If someone is to vote for Nowa Praiwca, they need it to be former PO supporters.

Oh I'm sure the mainstream media will figure out a way to keep frightening people with PiS. It's literally their only defense of PO these days....'yeah it sucks, but think, it could be PiS, or even PiS and Korwin Mikke together. Vote for the corrupt guys, at least they are not PiS and Korwin Mikke.'

Off-Topic / Eurovision - Today I will be ashamed to be Polish [481]

eurovision.tv/page/results?event=1893&voter=GB

Looking at the results on the official Eurovision site, I can say two things about voting from Great Britain

a) a lot of Polish people voted [we got 1st in the televoting]

b) somebody doesn't like Polska [we got last and second to last in jury voting]

While allowing us to see who voted for who does pull the curtain back and avoid talk of lying. It still doesn't stop corruption among the judges.

Funnily enough televoters and judges from both Azerbaijan and Belarus all think more or less alike, that Russia is amazing.

Aint politics and xenophobia fun.

Read up? Where? Surely they don't publish criteria for who they pick. Anyway I thought it was the audience who vote, or is that a lie and the calls aren't counted?

You referring to Poland or just in general? I was embarrassed by Poland's 'get your tits out and people will like it' approach this year. Really shameful.

Unfortunately the computer is in the main room. The TV is there and my mum and sister are watching. I have my headphones on though and am trying to listen to other sounds while browsing the net.

History / Polish Easter Tradition is also pagan! [47]

Yes we know Christmas was also 'religioulized.'

The term Easter is pagan and that is why I don't like to call it that, but there is no other term for it in this language. In Poland, Wielkanoc [the great night I suppose] is much more Christian, as is Boże Narodzenie for Christmas.

Not the only page tradition that the Church stole too, Jesus wasn't born on Christmas Day, he was born in March.

While it is the case that Jesus probably was not born in December, there is no proof that he was born in March. I hear that Biblical scripture says summer time is more likely.

Language / IS "MURZYN" word RACIST? [686]

Personally I am not offended by the word Polak or Pollack, but if it was used in a derogatory way to Polish people in America for a long time, then I would understand why some Polish people might be upset. Having said that, it is a funny word to use to try to be offensive to Polish people, since, as mentioned, spelled a little differently, it just means Polish person in Polish. I wouldn't be offended by it.

By the way, just curious, would white people here get offended if they were called a honky?

Language / IS "MURZYN" word RACIST? [686]

The whole argument about nigg1r [I would write it, but I would only be told I am a racist] being acceptable in the USA at one time, even though it was wrong, being similar to how Poland now, is bogus.

Yes people used to say nigg1r in the USA some time ago, but it was still derogatory. They didn't think anything of it, but the USA was that type of society, where black people being slaves was normal, or where black people having to sit at the back of a bus, was normal. So calling a black person something derogatory was second nature for a big part of white American society.

This is different to Poland. Unless used by racists, the Polish word for black people is not meant in a derogatory way. It is simply used just as another term for black people. Bambo that children would read about in schools, was a nice little kid who they learnt about. That story is not derogatory. Even the term Jew can be used in a racist way if used by racists, but we know that Jew is not a derogatory word.

Language / IS "MURZYN" word RACIST? [686]

Those of us who actually live in Poland know that Poland gets more black by the day. And as that happens, the despicable bigoted views which you pollute this place with become less and less common

You know what, I really hope that people like you get deported from Poland ASAP. You are one of those damn chicken **** white people, excuse my language, who defend people of other races constantly, but not people of their race. You're one of those white people that other white people should be ashamed of. Before you try to quote that and claim that I am racist, it's not! It's fact.

Black people are proud to be black. Black people defend other black people and talk **** about white people all the time. Many predominantly black countries don't want white people living there. Not wanting people of other races to live in your country is not racism. It is common sense. Having multicultural societies simply causes more problems that is necessary. As much as you try to live in your own fantasy land and play this elitist ******* who is perfect and thinks that the British and American multicultural way should be adopted by other countries in the world, because it is the correct way to live, people with some sense will always know this is bull****.

Speak to people in the UK or America. I know when you speak to a lot of British white people in a quiet place, behind closed doors, they say 'this country is gone. Look at it. Look at the problems caused by interracial fighting and claims of racism, constantly.' Then in public they have to pretend they have different views, or they would be accused of racism. You have to tread on eggshells in the UK. Even if you don't want to give a racial minority a job, based on merit, they can take out a racism case and you have to prove yourself innocent. It's insane!

Wake up *******! Stop pretending you are better than 'bigoted' Polish people as you like to say. Here's an argument for you that is often used in homosexual debates. People like you like to say 'well even animals have homosexual tendencies, so that proves it is not a choice and must be normal.' Well you know what? Animals, when they see a a different type of animal they are not used to, you know, another species that does not look like them, most of the time, they don't accept it. Some get used to it after a while, others don't and that's just the way it is. That does not mean one animal is better than another, just like with people of different races, it just means it works better if you keep them separate to avoid problems.

Racism has existed, exists now and will continue to exist. It's part of being different. I personally don't consider myself to be a racist, though I do agree with not allowing too many foreign immigrants in to a country and that does not make me a racist. Before somebody tries to bring up my situation of living in the UK, don't. I have always lived here and am a British citizen but Polish heritage. I am also looking to get a Polish passport soon. You don't know my past, so don't try to use an argument against me. I really hope more people like you don't move to Poland and I damn sure pray that nobody like you ever makes it in to power in Poland, or the country could be done.
