News / Poland Parliamentary Elections 2019 [93]

Unless you call me a liar because you are not able to win any argument with me

No, I called you a liar coz you acted like one. I am really amazed you lack such basic intellectual skills as to not see why I called you one. Saturday night syndrome again? You stop thinking at the weekend? :):)

Let us go back to our words:

You said

the only openly partisan person on PF is you, wait and maf too.

I called you a liar as you have proven in dozens of your posts that you are partisan to PiS when you reject every our attack and defend PiS at all cost, even their dirtiest tricks, and you do it against morals and reason.

That is why you are a liar. How simple. :):)

I hate talking about PiS this way as there is like lost of anti-PiS partisans' like pawian, Ziemko and such

That is funny you are afraid of talking sincerely because of some guys here. Are you really so sensitive? hahaha

News / Poland Parliamentary Elections 2019 [93]

No more articles/comments/discussions in the Polish media about Sunday elections: it is election silence since Friday midnight.

A guy who was caught tearing down election posters/banners was fined with 150 PLN - 40$. As cheap as borsch. :)

The turnout at 12 o clock was the highest of all recent elections since 2015. I suppose the final one will be about 60%.

Turnout at 5 pm was again a record one: over 45%. The highest in Warsaw.

News / PiS candidates are losing positions in EU Parliament. Will they keep power in Poland? [358]

who would have thought one week ago, that Wojciechowski will be confirmed unanimously, yet the French nominee will fail?

These are typical compromise games played in the EU. PiS promised not to object to other important things discussed by big players so they allowed PiS representative to be chosen. Tit for tat. :):)

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

Yes, Women`s Day. I clipped the photo so that you couldn`t guess so easily by looking at the date: 8 March. hahaha

Yes, Wisła River embankment, behind me there is Dragon statue, Wawel Castle on the right. No, they are doing sth else and the Lady in White doesn`t belong to the group. What is her role?

---Dramatis personae---

That might be misleading and some people could think this is an objective presentation-

but you forgot to add:
dramatis personae according to openly partisan kondzior. :))

No, don`t look at the dates, Parades have nothing to do with it, this situation happens a few hundred times every day, I suppose.

As for flowers, I am amazed nobody got it yet. It is banal.

Hint: Think hard who mostly gets flowers in Poland? And when?

Love / Are the Polish the most suspicious people in Europe? [73]

he began to follow me about, as though checking up on me to make certain

Anything is possible but in that case I wouldn`t attribute the bookshop owner`s behaviour to Polish suspiciousness. You might have simply reminded him of sb he had met in life and had a problem with. I also feel uneasy when I meet people who look and behave like the ones who bothered me in the past. I think it is natural.

Even worse than that: as hypochondriacs, they still don`t believe their doctors. That is why there is a Polish saying: each Pole is the best doctor for himself/herself. I vaguely remember.

Love / Are the Polish the most suspicious people in Europe? [73]

Yes, but communism was the final part of a series of foreign occupations which had taken place since 18th century. Simply speaking, the tradition of Polish suspicion is older than communism.

Love / Are the Polish the most suspicious people in Europe? [73]

Wrong. We are the most suspicious in the world lol

Well, I think it sometimes might be a bit true. :):)
That can be explained by looking at Polish history - since 1717, when a foreign power started to exert is direct control on Polish politics, it continued for centuries with short breaks. In result, Poles developed suspicion to survive various foreign occupations - is my neighbour/friend/workmate/family member a true Pole or an agent working for a foreign power? Such knowledge was often crucial for one`s welfare or even survival.

Simple.

Real Estate / Buy Land in Poland and Build a House from Wood [6]

It doesn`t need to be a farmland. There are also construction/building plots, excluded from farming.
Where to start? Start by checking ads on major buy/sell property sites. You can also contact an estate agency in a big city but those in small ones could be also appropriate for your needs.

News / So rate but good deeds of Polish politicians [9]

While it was a surprise on its own

Such incidents are very rare, indeed. It hardly ever happens to average citizens to rescue sb in a road accident, let alone to politicians.

Good deeds by politicians which I can think of are mostly connected with charity, but they often do it to improve their image so we never know how sincere they really are.

News / PiS candidates are losing positions in EU Parliament. Will they keep power in Poland? [358]

One word has dominated all discussions before elections: Mobilisation! Parties are thinking hard how to mobilise their voters. PiS is afraid their voters might feel too relaxed and stay at home on Sunday. That is why Kaczyński himself has addressed PiS` supporters to take part in elections.

Two scenarios are discussed: with nationalist Konfederacja in and out. If they get in, PiS probably won`t get the ruling majority. If they don`t, everything is possible. Currently, polls suggest nationalists are balancing around the minimum edge.

However, if they do get in, PiS will still make a coalition with them coz they are quite close politically and ideologically. So, PiS will rule this way or another. Unless a miracle happens.... :):)

DA stands for district attorney, a prosecutor.

Aah, now the issue of throwing things is clear.

On a side note: funny how US middle class changed that improper brutal "prosecutor" into a mild PC "district attorney."

Life / Poles speaking English - examples [263]

when I abandoned the United States" instead of "left" or "departed from"...

It must link to Russian уходить [uhadits] which means leave but is similar to Polish uchodzić/uchodźca which means to escape (e.g.,from the country, like a refugee does).
