The second one. It's actually not a swear word without some proper intonation while saying it. It's just a case declination of word god ( bóg ) believe me or not but it is declensed to "Boże" in vocative case. In this form it is usually used a swear word ( if that's how you call calling your god when you're in trouble or worried or angry or amusement or... just as english "oh god") :)

Why do you think football games in uk are more peacefull, because police were strict and fast to react and that's what we need, I'd say Polish police should be more violent and more aggresive against these punk who come to football matches. It's a laugh how there's a few 100 hooligans destroying cars and beating each other and after the game there's a police announcement how they have cought 4 and all of them will have to pay fines.. come on I want to see all of them beaten to a pulp in the back of a police car, and a complete ban for going to football mathes for them.

I think they have one face for work and another for a debate. Many such people? I take it that some kids are just going through the rebellious stage and they have to focus their "hate against the world" on something hence all the police bashing by stupid hooligans, hiphop and rap listeners who basically are too young and stupid to appreciate what police is doing - they all go mental about getting their id checked by the police or a small fine for drinking in public places and then write hip hop songs about it and about how badly police treated them, all of it a load of bollocks and I hope most of them will grow up...

The truth is in little mountain villiges you'll find these little pubs or inns where completely drunken guys are fighting each other or any newcomers that might happen to be there. I'm visiting one such villige during every summer and there are always stories about how drunk they can get and what they can do. It's a bad idea to go to a local pub in a small villige when it's after 18:00... and that is for anyone not only foreigners, as for Zakopane, I don't think you have anything to be afraid of..

I had a schoolmate whose surname was Komorski. I might be wrong but it could have also originated from words "Komorzy" or "Podkomorzy"..

Komorzy - courtier who was managing Kings rooms, furniture, tools..
Podkomorzy - a civil servant
Both of these are old polish words not really used anymore ( just in books and historical writings )

You're completelly wrong, kurwa is not precisely fuck, although it might be used in a similar manner, there are few polish words beside kurwa that overlap with the word fuck. Such as jebać, pierdolić, pieprzyć and so on they all have different meaning same as fuck. Don't state something if you don't know the language well enough..

Why not.. you just need to chose a course in english language, most of Polish universities have at least one. Poorer/smaller/worse schools have worse english quality courses ; ) I know many polish students who used the Socrates/Erazmus students exchange programme and they were really happy..

on the other hand my mates who participated in students exchange said that they prefered it outside of Poland - properly and expensively equipped laboratories, and friendlier deans office and professors.. ; )

I dunno, I got attacked in Gliwice twice, and my mate like 3 times. It depends what time and where you go. I don't recommend pottering around the park near old stadium ( near Politechnika ) after 23:00. Beside you said that being at the city square might get you in trouble ( especially when there's some kind of a techno night in Gwarek )...

Although it ineed is a disgrace it could have happaned to anyone. I heard few stories about polish couples that got beaten during day time in a city centre. Still those thugs have probably increased awarness on people that stick out more from the crowd..
