Travel / Pot in Poland for tourists [285]

It's quite a hot topic here at the moment. Very illegal, but prominent politicians support legalisation.

It is still illegal, and I haven`t heard of any recent demands to legalise it. Everybody has adapted to the situation. Good.

Life / Street festivals, parades, celebrations in Poland [7]

Literary characters parade in Częstochowa. Wow! Last years they had 9th edition but I only heard of it today. They promote reading books.

Do you know who the girl with orange hair is?

Love / My Polish bf cheated on me with a black girl [45]

he admitted that he feels something for the girl and he planned to visit her in africa.

Oops, it got really important to him, then. Going to Africa is a serious undertaking. But skin colour had nothing to do with it, really.

Love / Why do so many Polish girls dye their hair BLACK? [124]

I realize that most of Polish girls are dying their hair to black. Is this some kind of trend or are there any other reasons?

Of course, not most today. I would say about 25% of those who dye their hair do it in black. About 40% - blond. About - 30% - red. About 5% - other, e..g, purple.

News / Thousands of Polish women attend Czarny Piątek rally in Warsaw [780]

Incorrect, 62% of males aged 18-30 sampled vote for right wing,

Yes. Unfortunately. It is a result of low attractiveness of men at this age for permanent partnerships. Women prefer older men, over 30. In result, those young males are so frustrated they start thinking that far-right parties will solve their problems. So, when Korwin comes out and declares that women have smaller brains and are stupider, males aged 18-30 rejoice coz it flatters their frustrated egos.

paweltkaczyk.com/pl/mlodzi-mezczyzni-radykalna-prawica/

I said it a few times in this forum in different threads:
Young males! Instead of cherishing futile hopes that far-right parties will help you find a female partner, you should work on yourselves instead. Get education, read books, try to be more and more intelligent. Then you can hope that your female peers who already do those things will look on you favourably.

Without work, you will stay losers all your life. Don`t count on lower supply of males for partnership. If there is not enough male partners in Poland, your female peers will choose intelligent men coming from abroad, not you. How simple.

All these results differ depending on who you poll. There is really no sense in using them in our debate. I could present other results.

If only women could vote, Polish parliament would be mixed - right, centre and left. If men could vote, it would be right plus nationalists plus Kukiz.

Women`s preferences on the left.

Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

I fear it's going to end up in total chaos with every teacher demanding something different and using a different method to do so.

That has been the situation so far. My wife curses our kids` teachers for sending crazy amounts of work which first should be found on the net, then copied, done and sent back to the teacher. It takes a lot of time and she has been fed up with it already.

Lesser Poland`s Head of Education Board issued an appeal to teachers to ease up on the schoolwork they assign. She openly wrote that parents are furious. Also mentioned the situation which happens in our home - when a few siblings want or have to work at the same time. We have two PCs and other gadgets but it is still not enough.

TEACHERS, LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE!!! hahaha

I don`t blame those teachers, though. They are doing what they think is the best in the situation. But some don`t know what moderation is.

"do page 33, tasks 1/2/3' and nothing else will be banned.

Yes, that`s what she advised teachers to do - you can assign such homework in history or Polish. What about maths or physics without class explanation?

then we'll go into the school to print them en masse. We'll then take all ~220 packages of work to the Inpost depot

Wow, going to such pains means you are really dedicated. Respect! :)

but attendance won't be obligatory -

That`s the only way out.

this is a private school with resources. It won't reflect reality in 90% of schools.

Exactly.

Currently, I am not bothered what they will come up with in my area. I will wait and see and adopt whatever they devise. So far I have been contacting my students through e-class register or email. Some teachers use facebook, I don`t coz not all of my students are my friends. :)

On a lighter note: I can see in our e-class platform what tasks my colleagues assign to our students. Some subjects directly refer to the virus situation. Religion class - say prayers for the disruption of the virus spread. Geography - assess the changes in Polish foreign trade due to the virus effects. And the teacher of Polish told students to read The Plague by Camus. Very funny.

Giving and assessing schoolwork is OK, coz we have been doing it already - e..g, I tell my students to write essays for me and they send them to my e-mail address. So it is all right.

However, if they mean sth else, especially lessons online, they are daydreaming, thinking that every teacher and student has Skype or similar stuff on their computers.

Then there'd be another conclusion - it's their own fault.

It is their own fault they are modest, unassuming, peaceful, sensible, delicate, caring women? How can you be so cruel? Such women should be rewarded for being so. Do you want them to turn into beatches? Yes? You want it??? I don`t think so. So, in order to protect those wonderful women, males must pay for that. How simple.

I call you an imbecile,

Loser, loser. :):):) I mean the debate, of course, not your personal achievements in life which are certainly greater and more impressive than your achievements here, which are rather weak. We thought you could do better than repeating imbecile. imbecile around the clock hahaha

Off-Topic / English teachers - 'functioning alcoholics with a superiority complex' [54]

Yes, I gave up American money only to earn Polish money and I have never complained. :):)

Security? What are you talking about?

Great lifestyle? Come on. I have a great lifestyle in Poland - the one I really like and want.

But the true reason was different. Do you know why I returned?

Wow, the government prolonged time off schools till Easter. Isn`t it wonderful? Now I will be able to spend more time with you. I can`t wait. I will give you lessons for free! Because I am a compulsive teacher - it is my whole life. I need to teach sb every day - I do it with my kids but they are not enough for me. You will replace my regular students. I hope you don`t mind. Can you imagine those long long evenings with me chatting on interesting facts about Poland and Poles? Polesess, too, of course.

Off-Topic / English teachers - 'functioning alcoholics with a superiority complex' [54]

hahaha Thank you very much. You are mistaken, though - I am not just good, but one of the best here. I already tried teaching in America with good results but there was recession and language schools were hit so I prefered to look for a job somewhere else.

And don`t tell me it is a classic example of a superiority complex. I am telling you honestly how things are.

Language / Cultural disparities shown through Polish and English languages [195]

Another
Poles like to be blunt and bossy when they speak. E.g., they sound more authoritative when they give advice: You must go to a doctor, that`s standard in Polish.

English is more relaxed here: You should go to a doctor. Why don`t you .... etc?

Why is it so? Have you ever wondered?

News / Anti-Defamation League want Macierewicz (Poland defense minister) appointment withdrawn - GW [42]

Yes, I counted them into those 100. :):)

thedailybeast.com/is-this-defense-minister-a-russian-double-agent

This is also what investigative journalist Tomasz Piatek is worrying about. His new book Macierewicz and His Secrets, describes a web of connections that he claims ties Macierewicz not only to the Russian secret service, but also to international bad guys like the Solntsevo mafia. "The network of people around Macierewicz is Putin's best weapon," Piatek writes.

And I sure as **** know that 99.9% of businesses in the USA and other developed countries like Poland are the same

You can`t know all those businesses so well. Do you have your men in each of them so that you know what is happening there?

there was wage discrimination then they'd get sued.

But you mentioned that women are less aggressive in negotiating. It means less willingness to fight for their rights. Conclusion: most women wouldn`t take it to court. Conclusion: women get less coz employers feel safe with it.

Work / The level of English of Polish teachers of English. What do you think of it? [101]

the level of English of Polish teachers of English. What do you think of it?

I would divide them into 3 groups:

1. Natural born language geniuses, very proficient due to their inborn talents.
2. Averagely skilled. Not bad but their English is artificial. I belong to this group.
3. Very low level, with a lot of basic mistakes. Such teachers are mostly found in the countryside but not only. I have a few photos of kids` copybooks with scandalous mistakes copied from the blackboard.

E.g., the topic of the lesson read: Where are you come from?
