History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

Poles don't love USA either. We just consider USA a lesser evil.

You are so right. Those evil Americans deserve it. They raped French and Italian women in 1944 and 1945. Whatever money they could still find in Europe, they stole it and took it home. I think it was known as the Marshall Plan. Some plan, sneaky bastards. And then, to make sure Europe does not get too chummy with the Soviets, them bad Yankees stayed dressed up as NATO.

And now, they even have the unmitigated gall to demand that the oppressed Europe pays more for their own occupation by the blood suckers.

The Germans had a few years in which they went mad and hurt Poles.

Are you mentally OK? 17% of the population of Poland murdered or killed by the Germans is "hurt" in your sick mind?

"Hurt" is when I drop a plate on my foot. "Hurt" is when I slam a door while my middle finger I would like to use now is in the door frame.

And since when is 6 "a few"?

Do Poles have a logical reason to be afraid of Russia today? If they can co-exist more or less happily with the Germans, with wars, Auschwitz and the rest, what is it about Russia that causes all those negative emotions? Is it still Katyn and communism?

Putin really turned russia around plus he's putting russians first

Do you know why being a Russian is used as an insult here?

German as an insult coming from a Pole, that I would understand. But Russian? Is it still about Katyn?

OK, Putin haters, here is your chance to claim that Putin is not a patriot and that he violently conquered Crimea with thousands of dead. Or were those the voters and nobody died?

Poles and Russians giving their best to prove who is dominant and both of them are just Serbians.

What is puzzling here is that "you are a Russian" is meant as an insult. I guess when accused of being a Russian, in these circles here, I am supposed to strongly object with a how dare you or something like that.

Well, I would be happy to be a Russian. On my last trip, it was my plan to get a visa from the Russian consulate in Warsaw, visit Moscow, and have fun with the CBP and the FBI on my return. I was even planning to write to Putin and congratulate him on the Crimean job. I really like this guy.

Work / The Polish Land Forces (ARMY) - I want to enlist [20]

I asked if I could join the Polish ARMY

Don't do it or you will risk going to some s***hole like Afghanistan as Poland's payback to the US.

If the US wants to waste its money and men to keep the mil-ind complex happy, let it be.

I just talked to Vlad and he assured me that Poland is not on his to-do list.

No Military unit would want a genocidal nut job who advocates the shooting unarmed civilians,

You are wrong.

The Red Army let me join without any mental evaluation. While in Siberia, I used to enjoy shooting those poor bastards trying to escape. I would get extra vodka if I met my daily quota. Oh, the good old days...

My admiration for Poland goes through the roof whenever EU is pissed off.

I developed this Pavlovian reflex: If EU hates it, Poland must be doing something right.

In another thread I tried to point out how we abused love into an almost meaningless four-letter word. Just like kurwa and f***, at the other end of the verbal spectrum. This thread suffers from the same malady.

We don't assign numbers to love to show how much we love what, but maybe we should. The strongest love is that of our own child - the weakest for the objects, or even a country.

If the love for your country you left decades ago is 1 on the love meter, how much do you love your son - sitting in his room right now - on the same numerical scale?

There is no such number, as both cannot be placed on the same scale. If you can, you need help.

You is editorial

Life / Americanization of Poland - good or bad? [49]

From Chicago Tribune:

The extreme formalities and politeness of Polish culture can seem circular to a foreigner, but it is a pleasant opening dance to many, especially older, Poles. Many men still kiss a woman's hand at the beginning and close of a business meeting, a social grace that might well be considered harassment in the U.S.

"We don't use Pan or Pani (Mr. or Miss) in our office but large state-owned companies still do," Tobiasz said. "You have to call the head of the company Pan Dyrektor and you cannot call him by his first name. In Polish companies it will not change in several years. But especially in American companies, you'll find people are open, friendlier and more informal."

I like friendlier and informal.

Life / Americanization of Poland - good or bad? [49]

From:
mtstandard.com/news/opinion/guest-opinion-american-popular-culture-invades-poland/article_5a7b70a7-4dd1-507e-a16a-6a25dd6ad6cb.html

For the school year of 2008-2009, I was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to teach in Poland at the University of Wroclaw. I spent the year with my wife and teenage daughter.

To assuage our occasional homesickness, we saw a lot of American movies, with Polish subtitles, at the huge, ultra- modern mall near our apartment: "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "The Dark Knight," "Milk" and (alas) "Mamma Mia." The mall's multiplex screened many more American than Polish films. Often afterward, we ate ice cream in the mall's food court, which sports a Subway sandwich shop, a Burger King, and a Kentucky Fried Chicken. Sitting there, you'd have no idea (except for the signs in Polish above the stores) that you weren't in Middle America

As a visitor from the US, I was not amused. For the money I spent, I wanted to see Polish restaurants serving Polish food. The unhealthy type like flaki and tatar. That was not easy to find. But a Subway sandwich? No sweat.

All of a sudden, I feel so much better having no mental agonies like that.

No, I don't love Poland. No, I will never move there. No, I will not run to Poland to fight Russia - my age aside.

Life can be very simple.

You are, because you seem to have missed the importance of the word "possibly".

"Possibly" I can be pope by Monday.

What a dumb a** game to play with escape words like this.

Loving Poland means never having to say you're sorry.

I agree. It goes with pride more that love but I will take it anyway.

Like that 30,000 Poles were executed by the Germans for helping Jews. The equivalent number elsewhere in Western Europe was a single digit. Whatever led to these numbers being so dissimilar, these numbers speak for themselves very eloquently.

False. A quote from wiadomosci.wp.pl/why-polish-pilots-didnt-save-britain-6031561987142273a

Why Polish Pilots Didn't Save Britain

Statistics are a dangerous thing to rely on, but some broad numbers are useful here. Polish pilots made up about five percent of the defenders and, according to their own claims, shot down 201 German aircraft, which is about 10 percent of the total. There is no doubt that Polish pilots, on average, were more effective than non-Polish pilots, but they were not so effective that the 2,750 other pilots might as well not have been there. The other 90 percent of German planes destroyed didn't shoot themselves down.

Highlighting is mine.

I will leave this without a comment as no comment is needed.

Going back to loving Poland.

"Loving Poland" means to me remembering the good times we personally experienced. First bike, first love, friends, etc. The older one is, the feeling of nostalgia and a desire to retrace the footsteps we took when we were young gets stronger. This is why I went to Radom where I spent 6 years living with my maternal grandmother until she died in 1953. I remember Bartodzieje and the creek where we would catch fish, she would later prepare for dinner. It was the best fish ever.

I no longer believe in God, but last September during my first visit I did go to the church na Sienkiewicza where I got my first communion. I had no interest in Krakow. Never been there before and I had no desire to mingle with "tourists".

Without those personal events, Radom would not make it to even a very long list of places to visit. So, do I love Radom? Nope. Am I emotionally and personally attached to this very average town? You bet.

how your mind thinks.

OK. This is how me thinks:

The US never fought an army trying to invade it.

Simple enough or would like me to define "never"? Or how about "an"?

Standing up to a foreign occupier and paying their taxes where you get no benefit or representation is a case of freedom

Stop being ridiculous. The quote above applies to the Americans TODAY. Just in case you will try to debate "foreign occupier", the cabal of globalists, aided and abetted by the domestic vermin like Google and Zuckerberg, plundering the US Treasury and the American taxpayers via crap like global warming, WTO, etc fits the bill. Not every enemy carries RPG's.

What a reasonable person means by freedom is the freedom from being shot by the invading, foreign army. Not a freedom from taxes, freedom to b****, or freedom from the raping hordes of muslims.

That it's a mental disorder to try to be exceptional??

Lack of reading comprehension is a mental disorder. Read 935 and find the word "try".

To eliminate any confusion, I even used a screaming bold type and it still didn't work.

The revolutionary war was about taxes, not a fight for survival.

It's telling that you had to undust the events from 1775 to make your point. Fail.

Hospitality a mental disorder??

Would you kindly point out where I wrote that hospitality is a mental disorder.

I will save you the effort. I didn't.

I wrote this:

Why does everybody think that his country is always exceptional in a good way?

Is this an obligatory part of patriotism or just a syndrome of a mental disorder instilled by rote?

Are we OK now?
