Russian regime members are furious that Poles have just restored the old Polish name of Kaliningrad - Królewiec - which is a close translation of its German name - Konigsberg. Putinists suggest they will return to German names for Polish cities - e.g, Danzig instead of Gdańsk etc. And are reminding that Poland was once a part of Russia.
Polish Commission for Language Purity introduced that change in terminology to remove the surname of an infamous Stalinist criminal - Kalinin - from the public use in Poland. So, the reason is serious and well grounded.

Mrożek did but in 1963, 5 years before the antisemitic campaign by Polish communists.
Yes, they had issues but it was Polish Jews who were expulsed by thousands with one way passports and no right to return. Poland lost a lot of brilliant people. .

Exactly. PolamKrak says it has been getting better recently but I checked latest pollution detection rates and it is still a big problem there.
As for the JU, in 2020 it was ranked as the best uni in Poland.
If you don't mind being poisoned by the toxic air quality in winter, it might be ok.

WARSAW, Poland - It may be a usual occurrence in Israel, but the sirens that wailed in this city Wednesday were an extraordinary sign of commitment to the commemoration of Jewish Holocaust victims in Poland.
At the Polish capital's Monument to the Ghetto Heroes, dozens of Holocaust survivors and dignitaries, including the Israeli, Polish and German presidents, stood to the sounds of the sirens for a minute of silence in memory of the Jews who staged an uprising here 80 years ago.
