Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

Polish people are extremely rude especially females who seem to think they are better than everyone else and seem to have got it into their heads that they are all highly attractive when this clearly isn't the case. Educated blokes seem to be fairly civil and happy to help but the ones who are thick are just khunts.

Law / Polish EU Drivers Licence - can I get one the easy way (by paying for it)? [185]

Finland has the right idea, they teach you how to drive properly ie, correcting slides, power sliding, snow driving, its similar to rallying lessons, This produces good drivers who are able to cope with whatever happens which is necessary when on the road as things can go wrong and drivers should know how to correct it. It has long been my belief that skid pan training and a few laps of a track should be incorporated into driving lessons to prove you are a compentent driver.

Look at Polish drivers for example, they seem to have no idea about road position and how to take a corner effectively ie braking before you enter and powering on as you exitto keep the rear wheels in check (RWD only)

My instructor explained to me that a car is like a piece of string and you should aim to keep it tight at all times to maintain the best traction.

They want us all to use the public transport.

Theyre trying this in the UK but when its cheaper to drive a v8 bmw from one place to another as opposed to taking the train their plans are somewhat flawed. Also where I live there are 2 buses a week to the nearest town, + public transport is dirty, smelly, unreliable, slow and usually packed full of peasants and therefore unless public transport can provide me with the same level of comfort and convenience as my car its not a viable alternative.

The day they can provide me with a bus or train which leaves from my driveway as and when i want it to and takes me directly to my destination for the time I want to be there surrounded by leather and wood with the music of my choice playing and the air conditioning set at the temperature i want for the same price or less than it costs me to drive i'll start using it, Until then no chance

Naaah there are countries where you cannot drive faster than 80, Holland for example, and they are about to change that to 70km per hour for some highways, to avoid high emissions. So if you come by car to Holland, prepare for some old-fashioned granny driving.

I normally assume the autobahn starts in Holland and open the taps when I leave Belgium and proceed at full tilt through holland and ze fazzerland, Never been caught and at night the roads are usually lovely and empty. 70 kph is far too slow, The BMW would produce higher emmisions at this speed as it would select 3rd or 4th and keep the engine at high revs whereas at 100 mph it would be ticking over at about 2000 rpm and using less fuel. seems a crazy bit of legislation.

Speed doesn't kill, its becoming stationary suddenly, thats what kills you :)

As for the Britain vs Poland stuff - let's be honest, the UK is simply inferior to most of the EU when it comes to driving standards and laws. Even the speed limits in the UK are ridiculously low - 112km/h on motorways? Even Ireland has 120km/h!

Inferior? British drivers are among the safest and most courteous in Europe,

Driving on a british motorway during the week the whole thing works like a well oiled machine and you can predict what other drivers are going to do, when somebody has overtaken they usually pull straight back in using indicators to show their intent.

I know that our testing system is quite barbaric but it seems to produce drivers who know how do drive (well the basics, clutch brake etc) whereas in Poland Most people who have passed their test are useless and can't even use a clutch correctly.

On the other hand UK speed limits are far too low as they were devised when cars were built out of wood with wire wheels, drum brakes and cart springs for suspension and therefore 70 mph wasn't that easilly attainable. Nowadays a modern car can stop from 140 - 150 mph as effectively as a 30 - 40 year old car could stop from 60 and as technology advances so should the speed limits. I think we need a minimum speed limit of 70 mph and a maximium of 125 mph as its actually nearly impossible to find a car that won't do 100 mph nowadays

zero tolerance on alcohol too, and fit every car with a breathalyser linked to the immobiliser making drink driving impossible.

News / Original cars manufactured in Poland [64]

Does anyone else know that Poland was responsible for the first version of the renault twingo? A friend showed me a video of polish prototypes and some where quite impressive.

Life / Cost of converting cars in Poland to left-hand drive [58]

If there is no LHD alternative then you can register the car in Poland, I've seen a few rhd JDM skylines on Polish plates so you shouldn't have a problem, Make sure you buy a JDM special edition so that you can prove theres no lhd alternative.

With something like a lancer it would probably be very difficult to convert as the bulkhead will be specifically for a rhd model and unless you fancy cutting and chopping a fine car up then it would be worth keeping it rhd

[quote=inkrakow]I've just been told by my insurer who I have a long-term European policy with (I can stay outside the UK all year) that they accept Polish przeglÄ…dy, so I no longer need to go back just for the MOT!/quote]

Who are you insured with, please tell :)

Life / Things that annoy you in Poland. [133]

The roads, People who don't accept responsibility for their actions when things go wrong, The terribly corrupt police force, Dual pricing for foreigners as they think we are wealthy, Bureaucracy and the fact that most of the food is utter shite.

Life / Are foreigners welcome in Poland? [305]

I just find that the majority of people stare at foreigners even in the big cities, Older generations seem to despise foreigners for some reason. Also Polish drivers never let english registered cars out of junctions I think that may just be down to arrogance.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

Polish girls beautiful? No thats what they have been told to think as they have no other redeeming features,

The personality of most polish females lets them down considerably, It would be like buying a Ferrari only to discover it has a malluch engine, Most polish women are sour faced, rude, controlling and possessive, Just a general observation but it seems to ring true with the majority.

Life / Cost of converting cars in Poland to left-hand drive [58]

Poles can't drive very well so it could be demanding for them to drive a RHD car in a LHD country, Personally I drive around 1500 miles a week throughout europe and don't find it a problem at all and have never once crashed or for that matter come near, General road etiquette and patience work very well unlike the usual polish arrogance and total lack of regard for other road users which is so prevalent on Polish roads.

Life / Popular and Practical Cars in Poland [49]

That volvo crashed is staged, The 940 is a rwd car so the engine would be mounted longitudinally, If you look at where it crumples it goes right through where the engine is, It looks at though the engine has been removed from the volvo for the test.

I personally would rather be in a big car as they are safer, I'm sure new large cars are safer than new small cars, These tests are using cars based on 20 yr old designs which isn't really a fair representation.

Law / How to register a foreign Non-EU car in Poland? [25]

You can register a jap import providing there is no LHD drive alternative, for example the nissan skyline, Mitsubishi FTO, Eunos Roadster (mx5 in europe)

Takes a bit of doing but there is a Skyline GTR tanking around Poznan on Polish plates, When I spoke to him he told me that he was able to register in in Poland due to there being no LHD alternative.

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

The Polish postal system is actually a joke, They never try to deliver parcels or letters instead you have to go to your nearest post office to collect it, Now that is pure laziness considering the cost of actually sending things.

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

Hate is a very strong word but..

Bureaucracy
The fact that travelling from city to another takes so long.
The food.

There are more than 3 things I like about it hence the reason i've stayed.

Life / Why there is always around a horrible smell of sweat in Poland [195]

I have noticed this too when using trams and buses, My Polish flatmate however showers or baths at least twice sometimes 3 times a day, I've asked him why people seem to smell and he has no idea.

Polish deoderants can't be that bad, I've been using one that I bought in Piotr i Pawel and its the same brand as any I would get in the UK,

Could be down to the massive heat flutuations between summer and winter and people only using a "winter amount" of deoderizing products in the summer?

Travel / Why does everyone seem to hate LOT Polish Airlines? [382]

I hate LOT because those stupid turboprop propeller planes fly about 50 metres above my roof on approach to £awica and make a godawful noise, Never flown with them though although I do rate BA very highly as I have never had any problems and have flown with them 3+ time a year since I was 5 years old (cant remember that far back), I have been using Ryanair recently and they are terrible but at 100 pln return Poznan to Bristol I can't really complain,
