Language / Game - guess Polish idioms/sayings in direct English translation - part 2 [165]

I took it for granted

Not quite.
Firstly, you should have said footprint instead of an imprint. Imprint can be left with various objects, while footprint mostly with your foot or sth you wear on it. :):):)
Secondly, leaving an imprint on sb`s behind suggests a single kick in the ass. While booting is a series of kicks all over the body of a usually defenseless opponent on the ground. :):):)

Forcibly

This associates well with booting sb. The rest doesn`t.

However, the mystery of literality is still unsolved.

Let`s start from the beginning. How should we imagine booting sb in detail if we aim at literality???

Hint: what is the primary meaning of BOOT in English??????????????????

Life / Owning a house in true countryside of Poland - stories [649]

I have provided the hamster with the tenth cob

Ooops, it seems I was cheated on by a much cleverer animal than a hamster, namely a rat. I installed a photo trap in the spot and discovered the place is infested with mice and one big rat. A cat also appeared but probably didn`t do well. Fekk!!!!
I worry about the hamster. Did it go to sleep or it perished after a few days without supplies???

PS. I put rat poison in the barn. This is fekking war and I have no mercy. I will go to Hell, I know.

Food / Polish cookbook - down to earth hearty Polish cuisine [18]

pre war Polish cuisine

Let us add that Jerusalem artichoke, scorzonera, cardoons, salsify or kale - considered today as an original addition - are not at all a recent discovery, but were already among the commonly used vegetables before the war. Asparagus, artichokes and capers were also known, and were a very popular ingredient in pre-war cuisine, used, for example, in the sauce for Königsberg steaks.

Many recipes also used olives, parmesan, pistachios or chestnuts , associated with southern Europe , from which soups, purées and desserts were prepared. Of course, groats were in common use - in addition to millet, barley and buckwheat, oat and corn groats were also occasionally eaten, as well as tapioca and sago - made from sago palm starch. Lentils were also very popular, and were used to make soups or pates.
