Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

Well, I think that people dont try hard enough to put theirselfs in the shoes of others.

you can change someone elses reactions just by your reactions.

an example.. if someone is having a shytty day, they woke up and spilled coffee on their lap, then they went into
work and the boss was yelling at everyone, then they were sent to the register that didnt work properly..

hence, you will have a extremely upset cashier who doesnt want to help you, she just wants to go home, and soak
her feet and scream.. not everyones day goes as planned..

if you work with people, you notice these things.. its same in a hospital, you can change that mood if you really want to
but if you respond the same as the person who is talking to you, you wont get far.

one example for me was a lady confused, she was ready to kickbox all of us.. I lowered the tv volume, then talked softly
to her, in ten minutes she was calm, she was smiling and she started to even talk normally like she knew her surroundings

even simple changes can make a difference in every encounter. I can say, I have had to check myself in my own
reactions and sometimes its more self discipline rather then out bursts that make the difference in the reactions of people
around you.

:)

Life / Why Polish people should be proud of being Polish? [370]

Does it stand to reason then that Poles can take pride in the accomplishments of Russians? Egyptians?

only if they are half Polish and half russian or Egyptian... even 1/3 and 1/4 could count too :)

Does it stand to reason then that non Poles can be proud of what Polish people accomplished generations ago?

yes, if its something that our ancestors have accomplished that we are here today and we can learn
from this and move forward into the future with the feeling of greatness and continue on because
of it.. yes, I think feeling proud is quite accurate..

my father fought in WWII.. he joined Our Proud country in a fight to keep us safe.. I am proud
of his accomplishments and will cont to feel proud and I will use what I know to help others.

I certainly dont feel sad or disdain or angry or nothing at all.. if he didnt go , like so many others
and fight, things would be much different < it could have changed history> but he did and I am
glad, and I am proud he wore his uniform to save others.. makes me feel good.

you Mister just have a bug up your butt.. lol

let me ask you, do you have any family in the past that might have fought for whatever reasons
they believed in ?

And do you think highly of them for putting themselfs in such a dangerous position?

Why does it bother you so much that others want to be proud to begin with?

have you ever accomplished anything in your life you can feel good about?

do you ever hear good things from someone when you accomplish a goal?

no this isnt Dr Phil.. but if you answered no to the last Question.. then I can see what is wrong
if you answered yes.. then you should stop being conceited. :)

everyone deserves to be given credit and if someone they are close to feels proud of this, so be it.

And the only difference to the two words is ONESELF.. but the guy who invented it a LONGGGGGGGGGG time ago, forgot that others can be proud too PLURAL = more then one as

we are PROUD TO BE AMERICANS and WE <~PLURAL as a nation should be proud of our constitution
and what OUR forfathers accomplished ... this speech is told over and over to us.. are
you going to challenge the president of the United states and his crew should i say for using
these same words every time?

I just think you WONDER to much :)

Life / Why Polish people should be proud of being Polish? [370]

admiration:

a feeling of wonder, pleasure, or approval.
2. the act of looking on or contemplating with pleasure: admiration of fine paintings.
3. an object of wonder, pleasure, or approval: The dancer was the admiration of everyone.
4. Archaic . wonder; astonishment.
Hebrew Dictionary

Proud:feeling pleasure or satisfaction over something regarded as highly honorable

it's like you read one thing and then responded to something completely different.
Being proud of something is not the same as "admiring" or "appreciating" others or what they accomplished. Just because it makes no sense to do one does not preclude the others. If that makes sense to you then I'll consider that your apology.

I think the two are very close in meaning..

you can admire others the same as you can be proud of others
the two meanings are pretty much the same

you can admire a painting you son did or you can be proud of a painting your son did.

I know where you going with this, you think its more arrogant meaning, people acting conceited
but theres other meanings so you cant place one on the individual if you dont know how he
is presenting it..

anyways,, dont get your pride up babe.. cause Im not going to say it again when i said it once

:) lol

I'm simply sick of this sh*t, because it ruins PF and it gives Poland a bad reputation.

that we both agree on.

but your first quote was that poles are living in the past, and it was boring.

now your changin it to your sick of it..

I am not sure where your at with Polish history at this point you have said three different things
in the same few posts..

you said you liked it, your sick of it and you think its boring

errrr.. ok.

Maybe go relax for a while.. :)

you know when I looked at a polish to english dictionary, some of the words people write on here
match what someone Who is polish wanting to speak English , its used to help pronounce it.

so if thats how its spelled in Polish.. thank you

so the Z is actually SH in English. interesting.

Patrycja, I actually enjoy discussions about history. But not constantly, and certainly not in the way it is discussed by the "Poland, Poland über alles" crowd here.

QUOTE THE OTHER-

This is a forum , not your house.. I am sure your circle of friends discuss alot of different
things.

What topics would you like to see in a Polish forum? I think they cover an abundance of
topics, you choose to respond to the one that deals with why polish are proud. then you
say your tired of it.. but you dont have to come into this thread, there are many other
threads dealing with current affairs..

not saying your a bad person, but your putting yourself in this conversation.. none of us
asked you ( HEY THE OTHER WHAT DO YOU THINK??)

everyones Opinion is valuable.. but if you say, well I am tired of it all, thats not an Opinion
thats just plain whining.

I am sure we would all join you in another thread of interest if you want us too :)

Yes, they do. But they don't talk about it all the time.

Quote the other-

and how do you know they dont talk about it all the time? you know that many people?

your on a polish forum..dont you think your expectations are a little high to think people
wont talk about it here?

My mother did as well. and she also taught my daughter ( oldest) how to say in polish
in the name of the father and son and holy ghost amen.. which was very very beautiful to me
because my daughter and my mother were very close and when she died , she remembered that
to this day.

I certainly wish I could have spent the time with my grandmothers , but it wasnt meant to be
for me.

Life / Why Polish people should be proud of being Polish? [370]

It has long been a curiosity of mine that people take pride in things that they neither accomplished nor affected...

yeah we know.. keep trying to figure it out.. meantime

People who appreciate things will cont to evolve and learn from the accomplishments and the mistakes
of the past... good luck to you and your trying to figure it out.. by the way,, do you own a phone
or are you not happy someone from the past had enough brains to actually invent it.

oh yeah, how about the computer you sit on that you didnt make.. but someone from the recent
past did.. and hes a millionare and by golly hes loving his past and I am sure he learned from
the guys who failed before him.

sorry, that was carried away.

we have no choice but to look to the past before we can move towards a future.

thats not what he said, he said they are proud of their accomplishments.. what they went thru
to get to today.

and pretty much all countries and people have a past.

can you tell us about yours? or were you just born?

UK, Ireland / Why Poles will never belong in England [283]

Poland is rubbish because Poles live there. They can't escape themselves by coming to England, they will only live as an alien underclass, adulterate our culture and adulterate our blood.

someone has a bug up their arse.. go take a poop

I think your jealous of People that work much harder then you.. I dont see why your so angry
about something that was not exclusive to Polish. Matter of fact was it not your govt that
opened its doors?? do you have people that are from India? Pakistan?Nigeria?China?or any other
country?

its easy to blame one country.. when it was yours that joined the union.

no. they want to enjoy the opportunities offered by a new modern way of thinking. they share equal rights, which allows them to travel, make their fortune, return home an retain their nationality,

I agree Wroclaw.. and this isnt something new.. Polish have always went to other countries and
returned home. some stayed, but that is their choice.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

But in all seriousness- what would a gun have done to help the situation? Had somebody in your family pulled out a gun, threatening these boys- for a bike, the person with a gun would be charged with a criminal offense.

true, and what if they had a gun ( most do now a days) which I wasnt thinking that at the time
all I wanted to do was get the bike back.. I was so angry..

I keep thinking about the part where they said, yeah just cause we are three black teens walking
in a white neighborhood..

we had multiple witnesses see them take it, Plus my daughter, they were running , we never lost
sight of them.. so the race card bullcrap was enough to send me over the edge..

yeah, you little misfortunate SHYT we seen you take it, I dont tolerate theifs..

MY daughter tried to call the police , her phone was not working. it was a intense situation.

I am glad it was not any worse. I told her BF just go home, cause he wanted to go kick their
AZZ ... there were people looking from their houses too.

cops said , yeah, when they see them they will be shakin them down. its their own fault
they get this reaction from cops... cause they do steal and they do carry weapons...

then they want to come into my neighborhood and try to play that race card .. NOT HAPPENING!

I am still angry..

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

its funny, theres a family down the street , they dont steal, we have mexicans, blacks
but yet they said it was a white neighborhood only,,, they were taught by their racists parents
to be like this.. why else would they say that??

I clearly said , you were seen by my husband and neighbors... they kept lying..

oh well, so you go to jail in a few years little punk arse ,, your poor momma gonna cry cause
you cant act like a decent human, whos fault is it?? you look well dressed and you dont look
like your starving.. but you want everyone elses hard earned items!!

BULLSHYT>> not in my neighborhood..

I will hunt/find your arse.....Elmer fudd watch out.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

What do you think about the right to own the guns?

Well I was opposed to it, after today i am not sure I am so opposing..

my daughters BF comes over for the first time to meet us, hes very nice young man
he rode his bike over in scorching heat, so we invite him inside and were all sitting having
a nice time and my husband looks out the window hooking up stuff to the TV and low and
behold 3 young punk azz teenager black boys take off with his bike that was next to the gait
in our front yard!!

my husband opens the door and yells hey hey.. kid turns around and smiles and took off like
a bat out of hell!!

so her BF runs after them.. one neighbor seen them come from the park behind his home so
he knew it was the same teens , he watched from his back to front yard all three of them
and told us which way they went.

so i got in my car and flew down the street with my daughter, we caught up with her BF
he jumped in we then hit high speed down the street to where these young little dirt bags
were out of breath and walking fast.. no bike.. I screamed WHERES THE F>>>IN BIKE B**TCHES
they said what you talkin bout?? we just came from the park.. I repeated it louder and said the
cops were on their way fess up PUNK NOW!! they said OH , just because we are three blacks
walking in your white neighborhood you think we stole a bike!! I said no you little punk, my
Husband and few other people seen you three take it!! WHERE IS THE BIKE!!!!!
they said we were playing basketball and just walking home, my daughter said wheres your
basketball??? HMMM LIARS>
they kept lying, so I took off with the car around the corner two blocks over on the street
lying on the ground and we seen the other kid running down the street, there was the bike
so i told her BF get on the bike, come straight to our house, dont go back and try to fight them
we have the bike and i am making a report, my daughter knew one of them from school.. so
we now gave his name and I hope the little punks go to jail!!

I hate when people bring up that race card shyt.. its so old with me.

how you going to come in my neighborhood, enjoy the schools, the saftey then you are going to
take from my backyard???

no, I dont like guns, but if it means protecting my family, I am seriously going to change my
thoughts on it..
my hubby was saying what if they come back and slice our tires.. I was like, well, we have names
and our neighbors are bikers and will be moving in soon, let them mess with us now..

Travel / How welcoming is Poland for an American visitor? And great places to visit. [43]

. My statement is simply taken as a proof

your statement is as good as shyt.

because you can’t see past the words used and what was actually meant by them you never will.

some people know how to talk and some dont. maybe you shouldnt say anything if you dont
care, then dont talk. you offer nothing to the op other then sarcasim, so you got it back
now your boo hooing.

shaddap and shuttin up.

your normal is nothing anyone wants to hear anyways..

Go enjoy yourself, try the food and the drink and the endless beautiful buildings in the cities and the lovely countryside, Im English been 3 times and didnt find the people unwelcoming

This is what the OP wanted, plenty of nice posters in here.. who actually offer up some advice
based on their experience. we all know to be careful. thats what he wanted was re-assurance.

first time visiting, I think he has the right to ask..

Americans in general are open and welcoming decent people. This is a nation of immigrants it always has been. Only people here who dislike foreigners are ones who have nothing and see them as a threat (ex. white trash)

he said we are gullible, and easily manipulated, its funny how general that statement was
cause I find it impossible to know my whole neighborhood let alone a whole nation of people.

MY GOD HE IS SO DAM SMART, never seen someone with that high IQ.

I want to be his friend. you like to tree hug?? I like to tree hug.

Travel / How welcoming is Poland for an American visitor? And great places to visit. [43]

Mike, your experience was good, but you still ALWAYS keep your guard up. you prob went with
a group of people or a tour guide, so you werent exposed to their bad part of the country
but they have it same as we do, certain parts are not safe for anyone , not even their own
so dont kid yourself , I am sure those who actually dont read /watch tv about us Americans
dont have such a bad attitude as those who are ignorant about Americans and YANKS do.

Some think they know it all. I am sure they dont venture much either.

Hello, I am american and I plan to go visit Poland in the next year. I have been slightly concerned as many people say that people from Poland are hostile to foreigners and are not very welcoming to them.

bottom line is dont let your guard down.. theres arseheads in every country, good or bad
my cousin went, and yes, some act like we are stupid, if you know polish and you visit poland
you will hear unappreciative people say stupid things under their breath and try to suck money
out of you any way they can.. so dont pull your wallet out in some unknown place.. keep your
stuff in check thats all, nothing wrong with keeping your guard up. it would be the same for them
if they come to visit the U.S. certain places you need to carry protection..

The title should read, what are the safer places for tourists to visit in poland!

my only other thoughts, if he died before he could recieve checks then you will prob have to rely
on the marriage record. do you have any reference to a naturalization document?

There is another way maybe * thinking cap on* hmmmmmmm.

let me get back with you in the morning, I think I have a idea :)

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

Polish people are very rude. There is a polish boy in my school who does nothing but yell.

Well if he has to be around 1st graders that dont know how to zip their pants I guess I would
be yellin too.
