Feedback / Why are threads deleted or send off topic list? [60]

I see that they have decided to put that thread back up in Off - Topic jon.
Adrain has a couple of questions for you.
Thank you mods. as hopefully this thread will be an educational one if some people can refrain from their nasty belittling remarks..

In fact they did say that. In red letters so you wouldn't miss it.

I must have missed it as it is gone now.

Food / Where can I find halal butchery in Warsaw? [28]

nor the staff in Hopsters

When you were at Hopsters did you see the gold plated bar stool at the end of the bar that has the name "Cantankerous" etched in it ?

My jaw dropped in a supermarket when I realised that you could get a kilo of excellent lamb for a mere 20zł there.

Mine would have too since it usually costs at least twice that when it is on sale.
Maybe it was getting very old and they were selling it for dog food.

And the government and church be arrested for inflicting needless pain and suffering on humanity.

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2986]

This ban is going to hurt the people who need it most - the poor since they won't be able to afford travel and high medical costs.

I just read this article which I found fascinating.

A drone loaded with abortion pills is flying to Poland. Activists hope it'll start a trend
Women on the other end of the drop - abortion activists in the fiercely Catholic country - will be waiting to collect the pills at a yet-to be-disclosed location.

Why is it that the government always knows what is better for the people then the people knowing what is better for them?

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2986]

Really, on this issue, the fellas should just keep out of it.

I disagree as it takes two to cause the headaches so to speak.
The headache being the need for an abortion pill.
I think it is LONG OVER DUE that men take on some responsibility and accountability to what causes the headache.
While billions of dollars have been spent on birth control for women very little has been spent on male contraceptive short of having vasectomies.
Women have been used as guinea pigs with birth control pills without knowing the side effects or long term use.
Many women with over prescribed amounts when the pill first came out became permanently sterile. Oops !
The IUD came out and was found to cause an increase in cancer. Oops !
I would suggest that if a Christian country was so concerned about women's bodies in the child bearing ages of 16 - 26 then they make available for sexually active men a affordable contraceptive pill to eliminate the need for an abortion pill.

This practice along with affordable birth control pills would still not cure the problem of uneducated irresponsible people however but it would be a start.

The current law allows 3 situations in which abortion is legal:

Those laws should be a given.
There are still many other circumstances that only the woman has to deal with which effects the rest of their lives that are not circumstances that the law makers have to deal with the rest of theirs.

There are way to many women and children suffering in this world because of government or religion dictators who both have caused God knows how much killing themselves.

The Church Authorities and Government Authorities don't seem to have any mortal holding them accountable for their sins.
Until they do they should be a little more understanding and forgiving of others.

Life / Why are Poles always so miserable? Why do they never smile? [512]

Well people in small town USA tend to be much friendlier and it's not all fake smiles.

Two reasons for that;
One, most people in America are on some kind of designer drug happy pills (Anti anxiety, pain, anti depressants, booze ect.) and the other half are doing illegal drugs like weed, nose candy, smack.

Second reason is that is because when you smile and are positive you have all kinds of friends.
When you go around with attitude you have no friends and might eventually get shot.
The Polish people have come from generations of instilled fear and tend to mind their own business so are reluctant to offer a smile that may lead to personal conversation and don't have the jingle to visit the doctor or buy happy pills.

News / Poland's post-election political scene [4080]

And so, the 6am raids begin, just like we all said it would.

If you really fear this of what is going on in Poland and you wanted to avoid having that knock on YOUR DOOR at 6 a.m. it seems you sure wouldn't be on a Polish public forum all day every day like you do as an expat posting anti PiS as you could be the next to get a knock at your door and be deported back to Scotland or worse yet, just disappear. :-o

There's a steel door on my gaffe Delph:))

LOL - and once they did get I suppose your bullet proof dog would bite them.

News / Poland's post-election political scene [4080]

Poland's post-election political scene thread reminds me of Our President Hussain Obama and his failure after failure when he got elected.
At least the Americans gave him a chance to fail where delph started his crying the first day after the Polish elections and hasn't quit yet.

(And he isn't even a Polish citizen)
I wonder how long it is going to take for these cry babies to catch on that there isn't a damn thing they are going to do about it except drive every one else nuts listening to their daily discontent rants. Wha Wha Wha !

The Polish people have voted and spoke and That is That.
Poland's "Political Scene" consists of a lot more then just what has happened since the elections.

News / Poland to return to Catholic tradition? [177]

Oh, so now you get to write the rulebook on sin.

No Roger, there has been a rulebook already written on sin.

You're an American with zero connection to Poland

You have worn that one out Roger.
Come up with some new material.
So do you believe that Poland is or is not a predominantly Catholic country ?

Save your propaganda Roger.
You try to tell us that Poland is not a Catholic country too.
Try to tell that to a practicing Polish Catholic and you will end up in a white coat alright.
Trying to brainwash a Christian country's youth with your false teaching is a sin within itself.

News / Poland to return to Catholic tradition? [177]

Having said that, a conviction for child abuse (be it physical, mental or sexual) should be an immediate life ban from working with children again.

Would hinting to them that alternative live styles are normal to have even though their Christian up bringing is in direct conflict with it ?
The parents teach their children Christian and moral values and then have say a homosexual teacher influence them that it is "normal" to have sexual relations with the same sex even though it is in direct violation of their religious belief.

Do you think that falls under sexual mental abuse to their religious beliefs since it is considered sin by believers in God who clearly called it that, SIN.

The 1.5% living in sin want to teach Polands Catholic children that it is o.k. to sin.
Do you think such teachers should be banned and deported from a 90% plus Catholic country for teaching a sin of Satan ?
You are walking on thin ice delph.

News / Poland to return to Catholic tradition? [177]

The Vatican does not consider them to be part of the faithful, i.e. practising Roman Catholics.

Again, I agree HOWEVER..................
Just because they are not faithful does not mean the Vatican does not consider them Catholic.
There are faithful Catholics and unfaithful Catholic yet they BOTH are still Catholics.

Not "some fall short" every mortal man on earth falls short.
However you are right, we can't just go through the motions as the upper and downers do and expect to have our fire insurance covered.

the idea is you try and improve yourself along the way

Ah, correct, putting in practice the talk daily is the ticket.
You can meet the RCC requirements and still miss the boat while others who don't score ten on the RCC requirements still will find a place in heaven.

that's what confession is for.

And you don't have to confess your sins to a priest to be forgiven, you can confess to another brother in the Lord or the Lord Almighty Himself to be forgiven. And once you do you never have to ask for forgiveness for that sin again.

News / Poland to return to Catholic tradition? [177]

the RCC itself sets out very clear requirements as to what is the minimum expected from the faithful

What is expected does not mean you will be excommunicated if you fall short of the "faithful's" expectations as we are all sinners.

Even the faithful sin Harold.
Sinners are still considered to be Catholic.
Sinners includes all of us no matter what denomination, agnostic, atheist, Catholic, Baptist, Tree Hugger, Islam, Jewish.......

News / Poland to return to Catholic tradition? [177]

Again Harry, Polish people prefer quality than quantity, differently than you muslims

Harold is Muslim ! That helps connect the dots.
Poland will return to Catholic traditions when times get hard again.
Haven't you ever noticed how religion accelerates and people become religious all of a sudden when they get confronted with death of a loved one or told that they are terminal, hospitalized, incarcerated, desperation, etc. and all of a sudden they find religion.

Poland will turn back to Catholic tradition when the Lord deems time to humble them again.

Love / Valentines Day & Polish men [130]

Always had you down as more of a Yugo guy.

Doesn't surprise me as I always had you down as a bicycle guy ever since I stole your laundry soap off your bicycle when you went inside the store.

Instead of giving women the same rights (for instance equal salaries) and basic feminine rights (contraception, abortion..), men get away with "flowers".

Oh Honey, come on now, "Women are equal to men, until it comes time to pay."
She gets his paycheck, she gets the house, she gets child support, she gets alimony, she has government welfare on her side, she has the law on her side, she has the courts on her side none of which a man is afforded.

That is why they created Valentine's Day, so the Alfa males can charm the pants off a woman respectfully. A win win.

Valentines Day is a day for us Alfa men as well.
We enjoy the 'thought' and 'amount of effort' in pleasing us rather then the amount of money spent to do it.

Life / Child abuse in Poland [64]

I was wondering how the country of Poland feels about this.

The Catholic Church is allegedly telling newly ordained bishops that they have no obligation to report child-sexual-abuse allegations to law-enforcement officials, saying instead that the decision to take such claims to the authorities should be left to victims and their families.

"According to the state of civil laws of each country where reporting is obligatory, it is not necessarily the duty of the bishop to report suspects to authorities, the police or state prosecutors in the moment when they are made aware of crimes or sinful deeds," his document states, according to a citation in the Guardian.

Genealogy / Do I look Polish? (my picture) [375]

Come on Tubby, sounds like you are talking about yourself.

- Tenebaum act standoffish and you will be beating them off with a s.Hitty stick.

So true Roz but you will never convince a young girl of that with all the peer pressure out there.
They think they need to put on war paint and submit to peer pressure to be vogue.
A woman that wore a Czech army parka, wooly jumper, muddy boots, wore her hair un brushed, drank her beer from a bottle would be much more fun to be with then one that worried about impressing both her male and female peers with plastic looks. (In my personal opinion anyways)

These young women need to be instilled with.... "there is ONLY one person that you have to impress in life and that is yourself".

Live up to YOUR expectations, not somebody else's.

Language / Polish was chosen the HARDEST LANGUAGE in the world to learn... :D [1558]

I often struggle with English on this forum searching for proper word(s) or expression(s).

Would a Polish Thesaurus help you out ?
You could then cross reference the Polish word(s) with the English word(s) that have several meanings being the same.
This will give you several options of words to use for a particular one so you can pick the proper one that fits best.
Or use an English Thesaurus and translate those words into Polish meanings.
merriam-webster.com/thesaurus/polish
Does anyone know of a thesaurus that converts Polish words to similar English words ?

Someone said my English is stiff or something.

Zmoe, your proper English is much better then most college graduates in America.

'sic (sic) the dog on me'? what on earth does that mean?

The owner of a dog (sic's) or "commands his dog to attack" you or another animal.
It's used as a figure of speech in America to get another person to back off.
Kinda like telling someone that you are going to set them on fire.
Another way of telling someone to get out of your face.
You know, same as like you are always telling people to feek off. lol

UK, Ireland / Britain's moral collapse? [99]

if some traditional British morality rubs off, Poland can only become a better place.

I sure hope you aren't insinuating that your "Progressive Liberal immorality" is traditional because that certainly WOULD NOT "enrich" the CHRISTIAN Polish culture to be a better place.

UK, Ireland / Britain's moral collapse? [99]

It amazing how the 1.5% of the people have the arrogance to try and convince 90% of the people that disagree with them on the definition of morality by using the words racists and bigots to belittle with.

Since the majority of the people in the world/society (90% maybe) are either Christian or Muslim that define morality very clearly.
That is why liberals use the words homophobe, bigot, racist is because they can not argue the truth.
