Food / Poland-Tea or coffee land? [165]

What I remember was pretty coarsely ground...

It must have been much later, coarsely ground coffee was for coffee machines with a filter. Finely ground coffee in electric coffee grinders would not be suitable for filters because it would clog them.

When I was last in Poland

It must have been a long time ago. I also remember finely ground coffee poured with boiling water in a glass, very strong and fragrant for the whole house. But I remember it from my youth.

but I still enjoy my chocolate.

If it's black chocolate then you're fine, it's supposed to prolong life.

Food / Poland-Tea or coffee land? [165]

Sometimes when I go for a kebab in Leipzig, I get a small glass of very strong Turkish tea from a samovar for free, which is practically constantly boiling. This is the only black tea I drink with sugar. There is no such kebab in Poland.

Stay physically and mentally active

I'm trying, unfortunately my two female cousins died shortly after 50, our close friend a Polish priest in Germany shortly after 60. Moreover, in the news so many young people are now dying ... scary to think. Good thing Corona is over. Back to the topic, we celebrated in a small group. The kids will come next week. I'm not going to do anything at work.....Hmm, this is where I actually have a question, would you celebrate 60 at work?

@Novichok
I thought for 60 you had to invite at least 60 guests and drink for three days. To be clear, I had a glass of champagne with my wife.

Things you can't get

In Germany it's annoying that you can't buy regular aspirin or ibuprofen at drugstores or supermarkets. You can only get them at the pharmacy.

Suffering's NEVER the "fate" of free-

Suffering often seems to be a way of life, and this applies not only to Poles, but also to, for example, Jews.

Life / 60th birthday in Poland [38]

My dad is in his early 60s, and seems quite depressed about this fact.

I'm not going to get depressed over this. I also do not want to set my life anew, as I have already written, no new children because late-born children lose their parents when they need them most. I will also no longer drive on highways 200/kmh as I did as a 30-year-old, only 130 on the cruise control as befits a serious person. The most important change is that a man after 60 does not have to prove many things to himself. Yes, it gives a lot of psychological comfort. No, I don't want to be 30 again, but I don't want to be 80 either.

60 is the new 30..

Not really, some of the things I did when I was 30, I certainly won't repeat when I'm 60.

How is the 60th birthday celebrated in Poland. It's the end of youth for sure, but is it the beginning of old age? Are there any special customs?

Off-Topic / Pop A Cork - Wine [440]

I have been wondering for a long time why Ukraine was so fiercely defending one little-known city of Bakhmut. I was just as surprised why the Russians so persistently want to conquer this city. I understood it only when I found out that they call this city Artemovsk. And then I remembered that the largest European producer of sparkling wines is located in Artemovsk, not only that, he also uses the Krymsekt brand. And finally, in the cellars of this plant there were 5 million bottles of champagne wine, some very old and expensive. Well, it's clear now, it was worth fighting for.

I especially like point 7. I also propose point 8; Królewiec/Königsberg will return to the matrix, but I don't know yet whether for Królewiec the matrix is Poland or Germany.

looks as if Chechnya will be independent

Yes, when Russia falls apart, the whole world will breathe a sigh of relief, and a few other dwarf dictators will freeze in horror.

For the last week we were sipping Chianti Classico from 2009 selected by Tesco. Wine with the Polish tag, i.e. bought in Polish Tesco. In the meantime, Tesco has already withdrawn from Poland. Real shame. Now, if I want to buy something in Tesco, I have to go to the Czech Republic. Wine, meanwhile 14 years old , very good. Simply classic. Tesco knew how to select good wines. I miss this store.

Life / K+M+B-2012 - formula on flats in Poland [63]

making KMB inscription

KMB is Kacper, Melchior and Balthazar. This is always written on the door by the priest walking around the carol. In addition, they also write the year in which the carol was performed. Some people leave these inscriptions for longer.
