Food / Polish Pizza !! The best in the world? [330]

The Scots wizard in the kitchen? Hm, although I like you, Seanus, I seriously have to doubt that...How about deep fried Mars-bars, served with a little ketchup on the side? Granted, it's very resourceful, but also gross (to me at least). And how about haggis?

M-G (was offered a haggis once in Edinburgh. Was the first time he kindly refused.)

Seanus

The deep-freeze pizza (no, not the Dr Oetker, it was a Polish brand, made in PL, I specially asked about this in the shop), tasted really exactly the same as the Dutch ones. But there is in all not such a big difference between Polish, German and Dutch food anyway in my opinion and experience.

She meant this thread, which is 10 months old. For the rest I don't understand what the heck she is talking about: "your way of living"? There are other threads for that.

Food / Polish Pizza !! The best in the world? [330]

Bought a Polish pizza in a Polish shop here in Dublin yesterday. Baked it, ate it. It's the same as Dutch pizza. But that goes for Polish sausage as well and other stuff. I mostly buy Polish food because it's about the same as Dutch food and I can't get Dutch food anywhere here in Dubs. So nothing to sing halleluyah about.

I wouldnt advise eating one before a date, it tends to last a long time..lol

It's terrible. I once had a business appointment of a few hours with somebody who ate quite a lot of garlic upfront...The smell was sickening!

so I take it youre not a beach person:)

Eh no, the Sun and I are not the best of friends, no. But the beach is also beautiful at nighttime, you know. Especially when the moon is shining :)

When you guys reffer to Kabobs is that like gyro meat?

Kebab, Shoarma, Gyros, it nearly all tastes the same. The difference is mainly in the country where it's originating (Kebab = Turkey, Shoarma = Israel, Gyros = Greece). And all of it is either lamb or pork or beef or chicken rubbed in a certain melange of spices. So yes, it's like Gyros meat, differences are minimal; depends on how well it has been prepared. My Jewish grandmother made excellent dishes with shoarma. I inherited that talent :)

I seen a gyro pizza it looked pretty funky with that tatazki (sp) sauce

Have to say that I liked the Mexican variation better than the shoarma variation. But I am not so fond of garlic anyway.

M-G (is actually a vampire and vampires are not that fond of garlic as you may know)

Have you ever had an Hawaiian pizza with pineapples on it?

In Holland a while ago you had pizzas with shoarma (a kind of kebab) on it and instead of the usual tomato sauce, they had garlic sauce on it. Also a Mexican variation with taco meat, vegetables and chilisauce. They were called Pza's. Don't know if they have them still. Didn't see them the last time I was there, didn't look for them either.

M-G (remembers that they tasted pretty good, though)

Actually pizza is an American invention, what you find in Italy is tomatoe bread they don't use any meats it's a big difference from pizza.

Nonsense. Pizza used to be the food of the poor workman in Italy. The Pizza as we know it was invented by a guy from Naples in the 19th century, to celebrate the visit of the Italian Queen Margarita. The first pizza ever was the Pizza Margarita, which had the colors of the Italian flag, Red White and Green. The pizza is certainly an Italian invention. And yes, they have meats (salami, etc) on their pizzas. If you ever have been to Italy, you would know that. The pictures of the Polish pizzas, earlier in this thread look disgusting, by the way.

Edit: sorry, didn't see the reactions to this silly remark :S

3.) They don't take any responsibilities for their actions.
4.) They whine all the time about simple things.

I do agree to that. My ex could be caught kissing another (Polish) guy and still proclaim that she "did nothing wrong" and after that would start to accuse me of being jealous and spying on her, which of course was much worse than kissing another guy en plein publique on parties where we both were invited.

Love / Polish Pet Names For Girls. [156]

"How was your day, babe?"
-Why you ask that? And why do you always say "babe"??
"Just want to know how your day was and babe is because I like you, babe.
-I think it's stupid you say that!
"Fine, we've established that now. So, how was your day?"
-What you mean by that?
"Mean by what?"
-You were ver sarcastic when you told me about being established.
"No, that was just to confirm."
-To confirm what?
"That you don't like me calling you babe."
- Now you're calling me "babe" again.
"I didn't call you babe."
-Yes you did, you did it just now!!
"Ok, how was your day?"
-Why do you always do that?
"Do what?"
-Not taking me seriously!
"I do."
-Yes you do, you've proven that just now.
"I didn't. How was your day, angel?"
-Not gonna tell you, you've p*ssed me off.

Life / Why are so many Polish People rude on the internet? [96]

krysia

Hm, that's not that bad. I've read on a Dutch forum that a certain Dutch actress looked like cat's vomit (of course with typhus, cancer and some more terrible diseases). But I guess cursing and swearing always sounds harshest in your own language. If someone Polish says the K-word or the P-word, I just think it sounds funny and don't regard it as gross. Same goes for the English F-word and S-word. But when somebody says the G-word in Dutch or curses in that language, I tend to find it much more gross. However, I think some cursing and swearing is in Dutch funny too. Depends a bit. I think that one can be much more hurtful (if one wants to be hurtful) without using bad language. Just a matter of choosing your words right :)

NB: swearing in Dutch usually involves genitalia, terrible diseases and in case of women the addition of "prostitute". Even more usual is a combination of the things mentioned. So that would be: "Vieze vuile kanker-tyfus hoer" (you rotten, dirty cancer- and typhus-ridden *****) - in case of swearing to a man, replace "hoer" met "eikel", "klootzak" or "lul" (d*ckhead, scrotum, d*ck).

I was last week in Holland and I have to say that we have some pretty decent samples running around free there :) 8 out of 10 chickadees were blond, that kinda surprised me.

I never read those. But I heard that in Ukraine dating adverts are just as common as, say, grocery adverts.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

Polish girls are very, extremely, scandalously beautiful.I mean there is no comparison to any else.It is like a farse of nature.
Only slavic women like ukrainian, czech, slovak can come close to polish women class of appearance but again polish women are on average the prettiest among slavic women. So they are the top of the top.(in appearance).

I know some seriously ugly Polish girls. I saw pictures of fat and ugly Polish girls too.

Indeed there are many

Of course there are.

News / Do Poles in Poland really feel betrayed because there won't be any US Shield? [288]

PlasticPole

I'm not saying everybody from PL should get their application for a Visa turned down. I stated that I can see the reason why they are tough on the Poles who do. But it's not only the Poles they are tough on. They are basically tough on everybody who wants a Visa. Except for the Visa Waiver Program, for me as a Dutchman it's just as tough to get a Visa to enter and stay in the US. I am not talking about the B1 and B2. However, this is getting harder too and always had the same conditions for me as for a Pole.

Will they ever change it? I don't know, maybe if Obama really gets the chance to make changes, then maybe, but I don't think that it will get any easier, considering the collective paranoya that has a hold of the Americans.

Eurola

This is what I was talking about :) But I know, Sokrates likes to disagree, maybe for the sake of it, even when he knows the other one is right.

News / Do Poles in Poland really feel betrayed because there won't be any US Shield? [288]

Of course. Everybody and everything is against the Poles. Always and ever. And the Poles are pure innocense. Yet everybody mistreats them and everybody abuses them. Maybe it's time Poles understood that all this complaining about everybody doesn't really make them popular and maybe also could be a reason for the reluctant way Polish immigration to other countries is handled? Btw: Poland is not the only country besides the US that has troops in Afghanistan. Last week I could read the tragic stories of two Dutch soldiers who were killed that week in Afghanistan. Every country wants to get out of there as soon as they can. We were also promised lots of things if we would send troops there. We haven't got anything they promised us. Maybe we should adopt the same attitude as the Poles: complain about everything and blame everyone except ourselves. Would be a lot easier, don't you think?

M-G (but you probably won't agree)

If it was in the 90s then yeah there was a gold rush to be poor in US instead of being poor in Poland

You're still suffering from what happened then. It's the way it works. There is a "nice" story of that: some time ago I read the story of a Polish gentleman in his 50's or 60's who was suing or something because the US refused him entry and he therefore missed the wedding of his (only?) daughter, taking place in the US. Everybody thought it was a shame, a disgrace and cruel to keep this man from his daughter's wedding. But what was the case? Somewhere in the 90's he went to the US and overstayed the three months he was allowed to be there for years. Officers found him and deported him and now they would not let them in. It was in that same story that a Polish authority in the US commented: "it's cruel, but understandable. Many Polish citizens have overstayed their Tourist Visa and that's why I understand the American attitude towards Polish wannabe-immigrants." It was a Polish person who stated this. Would she be lying too?

US holds no statistics on actuall numbers of Poles overstaying so got any particular countries?

That's what the immigration officer at the US embassy here in Dublin told me when I asked why it was so hard to get a Visa for my ex and why Poland could not take part in the Visa Waiver Program the US have. And I don't take it that he was lying. And besides this, come on, you know that this was happening in the 90's.

M-G (does not parrot anything, did not have an opinion about Poles before he got to meet with loads of them in Ireland and has a mostly good opinion about them)

I would study and find work in Western Europe

With the minor detail that in a lot of Western European countries certificates or diplomas from Polish instutions are not recognized. Ireland is the exception: they don't accept ANY diploma from outside. They don't even accept decades of experience as I have noticed.

ShortHairThug

It's common knowledge. Especially when you had a Polish girlfriend and tried to get a Visa for her so you could take her on your trip to the US. Just f*cking face it, Poles have abused the leniency other countries showed them way too much in the beginning and they now have to pick the sour grapes of this. I don't live in the Netherlands, btw. And I am not religious for that matter, so the Jew addition is irrelevant as I am Dutch by birth and I have relatives in the US. That makes your entire post irrelevant.

News / Do Poles in Poland really feel betrayed because there won't be any US Shield? [288]

MarcinD

Ever wondered why Poland is not included in the Visa Waiver Program of the US? Ever wondered why it is so hard for Poles nowadays to get a Visa at all in the US? I'll tell you why: because the majority of Poles that came to the US based on a Tourist Visa overstayed their granted period and just disappeared into (probably) the slums of Chicago. Don't you come and tell me that it's far from the norm, those "bad apples" in respect to immigration to the US.

I suspect Canada will regret the decision to grant PL a Visa Waiver Program as well: I can already see tsunami's of Poles flooding in. Just like they did in Ireland, the UK and Sweden. It's not for nothing that most countries are kinda weary to open up their borders for Poles. Floods nearly always follow.

M-G (and they keep complaining)
