Life / Exam for Drivers License in Poland; English? [99]

Merged thread:
Learning to Drive. Polish rules of the road books in English?

Rightio I'm learning to drive over here, never needed a car at home but Poland being like a million times the size of Ireland then I guess I need one....anyway...

Does anyone here know if the Polish rules of the road books can be got in English?
Poradnik Kierowcy, Cwiczenia Kat. B, Ilustrowany Podrecznik Kierowcy & Ilustrowane Znaki Drogowe z Komentarzem.

I can do the exams in English, the first theory test can be done and the actual driving one you have to bring along a qualified translator.....well, I think that's what they told me.

Yea, so if anyone knows if I can get these book in English it'd really help, thanks.

Work / Starting out as an English teacher in Poland - any pearls of wisdom for me? [11]

You've had some very good answers already, I'd just like to add that you should try and get a good balance between working for groups in companies and the like and in schools.

Private language schools take a hell of a lot of holidays. I think since last September, I've only had one month where I've worked 4 straight weeks without a break.

Even since Xmas for example, obviously Xmas two weeks off then back for 2 weeks, then 2 weeks of winter break holidays (wtf they are I still don't know) then 2 weeks back and then next week 2 weeks off for term break.

Like, I'm ok coz I have enough company lessons & proofreading but beware that you should try and find a balance because totally depending on a language school will have you paddling up a creak.

Life / Getting pretty tired of the postal service here in Poland [58]

How do you know it's the Polish postal service?

Its the Polish system for sure, everyone complains about it here and rightly so, it's terrible. I've had 4 or 5 things go missing on me.

Best to use DHL or something like that Lee, or register your stuff...you need to fill in a wee form before you send it, costs a bit more. However you wont get a tracking number and it'll all be up to you to call sorting offices to try and find it...which you probably won't. Polish postal workers seem to have very sticky fingers.

I'd DHL it but if you're only selling stuff for a tenner then it'd cost more to post....so you'll need to start chargin your customers more for secure postage.

Life / Anybody else out there a folk dancing fan? [25]

I've never seen any Polish folk dancing, looks like good craic though, wish they had something cool like that in smelly Kato, back at home we'd call that a session and many many pints of guinness would be drank :)

News / A devestating verdict on the Polish church [279]

The problem is that the Church does a hell of a lot of good in Poland as well

Like the constant oppression of the people, the way they dictate to people how to vote from their pews. Their constant xenophobic, homophobic and anti-every religion bar catholicism.

Plus all the child molestation that goes on behind closed doors.

and attacks on it are largely unjustified

including victims of rape, molestation and racism from within the church.

They are scum and have done nothing, absolutely nothing to further the advancement of the human race, they've constantly been engaged in trying to keep us from progression forward for about 2000 years.

News / A devestating verdict on the Polish church [279]

if the Polish church doesn't watch itself, they'll end up destroying themselves - just as they've done in Spain and Italy

wouldn't that be fantastic, to rid yourself of the shackles of fictional bullsh*t.
The sooner the better.

UK, Ireland / Should I worry going to Ireland as a Pole? [37]

about gettin a job? is that what you mean.

If you want to just go for the summer next year and work as a waitress or something like that you'll be fine, also there's still jobs in IT and software design, but for anything connected with finance/banking/property/construction then stay here because you probably won't find a sniff of work.

And if you mean about being Polish in Ireland then no, of course not...I've never heard of a xenophobic attack on a Pole..sure Poles have been attacked, a couple were killed too, but it wasn't to do with their nationality, more to do with them being in the wrong place at the wrong time

ou mean that homosexuals are just as bad as nazis?

no of course not. How dare you even suggest that!
If someone is gay it's because of their genetics
theguardian.com/world/2008/dec/01/homosexuality-genetics-usa

The cheek of you to say that, but as I said before, homophobes are homophobes because of their insecurity of their sexuality.

I take someone like them over some gay-pride-parades-crowd any day.

homophobes are homophobes because they're insecure about their sexual orientation, and you're a fan of nazis so maybe you're a gay nazi. But that's ok, they have a special swastika for you

constitutionalistnc.tripod.com/hitler-leftist/id12.html
That article also proved the homosexual beginnings of the nazis

but why, actually?

you're actually defending neonazis? Wtf is wrong with you, go spend an hour in Auchwitz or some time with a WWII survivor and then come back and tell me that what these a-holes are doing is freedom of expression

Now, does this make the polish "nazis" look any less crazy?

Yea, but does it really matter who has the worst Nazis in their country, the fact of the matter is that this behaviour simply shouldn't be allowed anywhere

Leftists call everyone nazis, fascists, racists, and antisemites

you've already got one thread closed today 1Jola, so go away, because you don't play nice.

The numpty-nazis aren't representative of Poland and her centuries-old liberal tradition

I know that and I hope you didn't think that I thought they were a popular movement.

They just do what they do to attract attention, which ultimately they don't get

They certainly got it today then, it was a disgrace, cops shoulda dealt with it far quicker with water cannons/rubber bullets etc

Now can you show me they claim everything of the above? If not then their not Nazi's but Nazi wannabies

Doesn't really matter what you call them, they were still a shower of cunts today and dont even try and defend them

Why cant there just be a carnival type of parade celebrating Polish-ness?

Warsaw did a really great job of attracting tourists today, fuckin dickheads!

And Poland has Nazis???....of all the countries in the world to have fascists you'd think, logically, that it wouldn't be Poland, watching the news this evening has made me regret moving here.
