Feedback / I love this forum - It's so Polish: tolerant, inconsistent, amusing [252]

This is double Dutch to me. :):)

I'm not sure if it's the same as clearing cache/cookies etc

I don't bother doing that anymore as it messes up all passwords etc. I've only ever had to do that for this forum and last time I did it I had endless problems with my google account.

Sadly, my boxes will remain forever white :(

Life / The climate for gardening in Poland [301]

If you didn`t answer it then, it means it was too difficult.

Or I didn't see it. I'm not camped out on the forum!

it isn`t raspberry!

Looks a bit too small but are they mulberries?

I can`t bear this torment anymore. :):):)

I only had one guess!

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 3 [558]

This is probably going to sound nuts but is it an aid to getting into the vehicle? It's difficult to tell how high up off the ground the door to get in is from the photo.

it is fixed on a vehicle.

Presumably on the back?

Is it to mark out areas on the ground? Can't think why though.

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 3 [558]

What can you see?

I presume that is snow in the background? It doesn't look like anything for snow clearing though.

I honestly have no idea. The teeth on whatever it is reminds me of old hunting traps but no way is it anything like that.

@johnny reb

As you're always telling everyone, stay on topic. This thread is for Poland in photo riddles, not the US.

Polonia / Should I visit Portugal? [35]

How was Lisbon and Sintra?

I enjoyed both and they're definitely worth a trip.

Be prepared for lots of steep streets in Lisbon. About the only bit that isn't on a hill is the harbour area.

The good news is that there are elevators, trams and funicular railways to get up to the higher areas such as Bairro Alto. This area has lots of bars that play traditional Portuguese music, fado.

Sao Jorge castle is definitely worth seeing and if you have kids they'll probably be more fascinated by the many peacocks running round the grounds. They're everywhere!

Also worth seeing are Jerónimos Monastery and the Tower of Belém.

The food was good and reasonably priced. I mostly ate seafood whilst I was there and you should definitely try Pastel de Nata ( Portuguese custard tarts ). You'll see them in all the bakery windows.

I went to Sintra mainly to visit this place, the National Palace of Pena:

parquesdesintra.pt/en/parks-monuments/park-and-national-palace-of-pena/

And it didn't disappoint. It was well worth going.

I might start in Portugal and drive to Poland.

Wow, that's a long drive!

I've been to Lisbon and Sintra.

Whereabouts in Portugal were you thinking of going?

and made us late

Thinking back it might have been something to do with the time I got in there as to why I couldn't make it.....

It's not like all of Toruń was in danger of running out of coffee beans

Definitely over it 😂

You can even make your own piernik at the Muzeum of Pierniki.

I can't remember why now but I couldn't make it on the day I visited. Was not a happy bunny :(

Travel / About cars, electric and combustion in Poland. [94]

MG Maestro 2.0 EFI,

To be honest I only ever associated them with sports cars.

bloody unreliable British engineering though..

You've got that right. I had a Frogeye Sprite that was equally unreliable.

I remember you :) Nice to see you stick around, Pam. *high five*

Thanks Torq :)

At times I wonder why I'm still here but that's PF for you. Addictive. Sad to think that soon it could be all over :(

By the way - who are you? I don't recall your username and you know about ATP, so you have been around for quite a while.

I had 2 previous usernames. I came here as Pam in 2011 and was a moderator here for about 18 months. Got fed up with it as you do so I left and came back as Chemikiem some time later. Got sick of all the b!tching and trolling so I left again for a couple of years and came back with my current username.......

I was also a member of ATP but I didn't post there that often.

I would love more for this to belong to nobody and be supported by its readers/writers.

It's a nice idea but it would need everyone here to contribute. There are roughly 20 regular members.

Selling advertsing can be done,

It's been done here before: polishforums.com/advertising/

I will have my guys create one for free and everyone can go there.

That's been done before too. I think it was Torq and BB that set up All Things Polish ( ATP ) which is no longer in existence. Not sure what happened to it though.

I bet there will be 20 members willing to send a measly tenner a month

I'd like to think so. I suppose it depends on how addicted members are to this forum...............
